learned that there was a female pope (???) and then immediately learned that this was made up and there was never a female pope (?!) but I like the idea so I'd like to go with it (the version where she lives to an old age and is buried with full honours)

Henry Herbert La Thangue (British, 1859–1929)
The Watersplash, 1900
Oil on canvas, H 116.8 x W 94 cm

“La Thangue lived in France for three years. He was fascinated by 'plein air' painting and spent his summer holidays on sketching trips in Brittany. When La Thangue returned to England, he chose to live in the country where he could paint the scenes he loved. After the First World War, the quiet rural life which he painted had all but disappeared. Although the world had moved on, La Thangue’s art stayed the same, his paintings inspired by memories of the countryside of his younger days. La Thangue painted several pictures showing a child or adult driving flocks of geese or ducks. Here the peaceful atmosphere of a summer’s day is conveyed by dappled sunlight. Light is crucial to his painting. A fellow artist remarked 'that it was the beauty of things in sunlight that excited him.’”

The reason Mr Darcy is an iconic literary character whose appeal has endured for more than two centuries is not because he's somehow simultaneously both a brooding, Byronic romantic hero and a poor socially awkward shy boy who's too nervous to talk to his crush.
The reason Mr Darcy has enduring appeal is because he transforms from a rich, conceited and utterly unpleasant snob into the best version of himself after a thorough rebuke from the heroine. Instead of resenting Elizabeth when she tells him how much she dislikes him, he realises that she was correct, that he cannot stand the person he has become either. Darcy listens, learns and grows as a person following her reproach of him. For all this, he expects absolutely nothing in return for it from her. Not her love, or her approval, or her thanks. Nothing.
Mr Darcy's character arc is a beautiful example of redemption; of a man turning into the best version of himself he possibly can be out of love not just for the heroine but for his fellow human beings... because being a better person is the right thing to do.

This may be the worst use of LLMs anyone has attempted, ever. Up there with recognizing mushrooms.

“One of the studies frequently cited by pornographers is a Dutch study done by Kutchinsky alleging that the number of reported sex crimes dropped after legalization of pornography. His theory was that the availability of pornography siphons off dangerous sex impulses. But when the data for his “safety valve” theory were further evaluated, it was found that he lumped together voyeurism and homosexuality (which police stopped reporting after legalization) with rapes (which actually increased in number). Deborah Baker, a legal assistant and executive director of an anti- obscenity group, says that proving a connection between pornography and crime is very difficult. She says, “The argument that there are no established studies showing a connection between pornography and violent crime is merely a smoke screen. Those who promote this stance well know that such research will never be done. It would require a sampling of much more than a thousand males, exposed to pornography through puberty and adolescence, while the other group is totally isolated from its influence in all its forms and varying degrees. Each group would then have to be monitored–through the commission of violent crimes or not. In spite of the lack of formal research, though, the FBI’s own statistics show that pornography is found at 80 percent of the scenes of violent sex crimes, or in the homes of the perpetrators.””

I have had the “Dutch study that proves porn is good” deployed against me many a time. Glad I finally found this.
