A Basketball Player with Passion and Purpose
Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to Kurt Jay C. Rojas, a 20-year-old basketball player from Brgy. Danhug, Ormoc City. He is a student-athlete at Sto. Niño College of Ormoc Inc., making waves both on and off the court.
Tumblr media
Kurt’s love for basketball started when he was just seven years old, and he’s been honing his skills ever since. Juggling academics and sports isn’t easy, but he manages it through careful planning, staying organized, and prioritizing rest and recovery to keep performing at his peak.
His goals?
To sharpen his skills, contribute to his team’s success, and chase championships. But it doesn’t stop there—Kurt is also focused on excelling academically, developing his leadership abilities, and preparing for life beyond basketball.
Basketball has shaped him in many ways, teaching him discipline, resilience, and teamwork. He thrives on the fast-paced nature of the game, the challenges it brings, and the bond he shares with his teammates. He looks up to athletes who push through obstacles, and he’s always striving to improve.
Speaking of teamwork, Kurt values the strong sense of camaraderie within his team. He communicates effectively—both verbally and through his actions—and believes that trust is the key to great ball movement, solid defense, and a winning mentality.
His favorite part of the game?
The competition and the adrenaline rush! He’s constantly working to enhance his shooting accuracy and ball-handling skills. Inspired by Kobe Bryant’s legendary work ethic and "Mamba Mentality," he envisions himself excelling as a center, dominating the paint, and controlling rebounds.
Kurt Jay C. Rojas is more than just a basketball player—he’s a dedicated student, a leader, and a team player with a bright future ahead. Keep an eye on him—his journey is just getting started!

In the morning, I wake up early to prepare breakfast. After eating, my mother and I went to our small farm since my class start untill 4 PM. Since I had plenty of free time before school, I helped her out with farm work.
At the farm, we harvested fresh vegetables like eggplant, string beans, and okra. We also gathered some root crops. The farm was peaceful, and I enjoyed the fresh air while working. After finishing, it was already lunchtime.
When we got home, I prepared my uniform and bag for class. Of course, I took a bath to freshen up before heading to school. Since I arrived early, I just waited for my classmates and scrolled through my phone to pass the time.
Finally, class started. Our instructor gave us an individual project to create a Tumblr account. It was fun choosing a cool avatar and customizing my page. Some of my classmates had really unique and aesthetic designs for their pages, and it was inspiring to see their creativity. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to finish the assignment because we ran out of time.
After class, I went straight home because I still had a 30-minute commute, and to be honest, I was already starving! As soon as I got home, I ate dinner and then continued working on the assignment that we didn’t finish in school. I also worked on my other tasks to avoid cramming later.
And that’s how my day went! It was a mix of productivity and fun, from working on the farm to learning something new in class. Even though it was a long day, I felt accomplished.

My First Trip to Camotes
My childhood memories, that I can never forget. It was when we went to my mom's hometown in camotes. I was so excited to ride a boat because it was my first time. When we arrived, we rode a car to my mom's place. The place it was nice and peaceful, and the sea was crystal clear. I remember the vibrant colors of the flowers blooming along the roadside and the scent of the fresh air. During our stay, I didn't really enjoy the place and their food. I felt a bit scared because the neighbors seemed a bit intimidating. Maybe it was just me being a young kid, but i felt a bit out of place. However, I was happy because I got to travel to my mom's hometown and meet my uncle's and cousins. We played games and shared stories. I remember how my cousins taught me how to swim in the ocean. Overall, my mom's side of the family was nice. We jammed together and explored the area. Even though I wasn't completely comfortable the place, I still cherish the memories I made with my family.
