honestly one of my favourite things about the sannin is that they're all terrible adults. not a single sound decision between them. we've got a pervert who is failing at stuff like "being nice to the kid you decided to teach", a not-quite recovering gambling addict and alcoholic entrusted with the leadership of one of the biggest hidden villages, and orochimaru. i don't think i need to say more about orochimaru.

edit: y'all i'm so sorry i just started shippuden i know nothing and spoiler free tags would mean the world to me (yes i am aware this show is 25 years old shhhhhh)

it's still so crazy to me how the sannin fit together like a puzzle. separate, they read as three very different and utterly independent characters, but then you see them all together and it's like a gear snapping into place. the snail, the toad, the snake. these motifs that are directly referencing an old japanese iteration of rock, paper, scissors, that we see all three of them exhibit individually, but when we see them together, those motifs are put into a new context. snails and toads and snakes all make sense as seperate things, but still come together to form this old game where they're all equals. the three-way deadlock, the legendary sannin. three pieces of a puzzle coming together to form a more full picture, and even when they made sense on their own, you still feel like you understand it all a bit better after seeing them together.

Mikoto became a full-time housewive not out of choice or due to the pressures of tradition, but rather because she as an Uchiha was pushed out of going back into active duty ever again. It was either taking care of the kids or trying to look busy for 9 hours at the police station.

I just found out that after Kishimoto did the entermix magazine interview where he says "my brother and I are the prototype for Naruto and Sasuke" and "for me brotherly love and friendship are the same" they asked his brother Seishi about this and he said "My brother's concept of brotherly love is very strange" LMFAOOOOOOOOO

Gym buddies HashiMada btw. If you even care. Two extra™️ dudes desperately trying not to be creeps while they ogle their bro's ""form""".

They exchange nods at first when they notice each other in the gym around the same time every week in the rainy season. Hashirama usually ends his workout on a run and cooldown stretches; Madara has never been much of a runner and starts copying him on the treadmill in some gay AF attempt to get closer to him. Hashirama occasionally makes small talk with him as he sets up so Madara breaks convention and starts using the treadmill right next to him so he can listen to Hashirama's faint pants and watch the sweat bead on his face. While racing him.

Hashirama eventually notices this stranger trying to race him on the treadmill and is delighted by the whimsy of the world. They parry childish words and bets. He may or may not become distracted henceforth when Madara whips off his soaked shirt to run topless.

An employee darts over shortly after to politely remind Madara that this gym does not allow nudity in any form. Madara is baffled, despite rarely taking off his shirt in public, but ends his workout there to avoid putting his sopping shirt back on.

Hashirama joins him in solidarity and they take the most awkward showers of their life trying to chat while 1) studiously avoiding looking at one another and 2) fervently praying that their dicks behave.

Hashirama pretends to slip so he has an excuse to dive for the protection of his locker door, so his prayers were clearly ignored.

Insert awkward, heated, lingering eye contact as they block the front step of the gym chatting about absolutely nothing. Eventually Madara notices the time and has to book it. Hashirama catches his elbow—shit, he's strong—and brightly suggests running in the park on the weekend.

Somehow it is still a few long, long, long months before it hits them that. Duh. We are both clearly into this. And they do the gayest thing two men can do together to consummate:

They run a marathon.

They have a post-run sloppy makeout and Madara bans Hashirama from working out with anyone else.

This started as simple pose practice…  somehow turned into Tobirama having his evening being ruined by having to haul his brother's drunk ass home after Hashirama just wanted to 'hang out'

I imagine that Tsunade inherited all of her worst traits from Hashirama lol
