“Materialism of the incorporeal” - Foucault - paradoxical, since incorporeal is by definition lacking the material reality provided with having a body.
“The event is neither a substance, nor an accident, nor quality nor process; the event is not of the corporeal order. And yet it is definitely not immaterial; it is always at the level of materiality that it takes effect, and that it is an effect; it has its place and consists in the relation, the coexistence, the dispersion, the cross-checking, the accumulation, and the selection of material elements; it is definitely neither the act nor the property of the body; it occurs as the effect of and within a material dispersion. Let’s say that the philosophy of the event would have to advance in the at-the-first-sight paradoxical direction of a materialism of the incorporeal.”
