The Guilty Pleasure Trope Showdown
Hello, everyone! After my 2-month hiatus, I have returned with our next tournament, which won our last poll for what the next tournament on this blog should be: the Guilty Pleasure Trope Showdown! Have a trope that you absolutely love, even if you're a little bit embarrassed to say so? A trope that you think is objectively bad, but that you get a kick out of every time? Submit it here!
Below is the submission form. Submissions will be open for at least 2 weeks, closing on Sunday 3/30, though I may choose to extend this deadline.
THE RULES:
To be a guilty pleasure, a trope must be something that A) you enjoy, and B) is a little shameful in some way, be it because it's typically considered bad, because it's associated with "trashy" media, because it's considered problematic, etc. Tropes that are universally considered good or a sign of good writing do not belong in this tournament! If it's unclear why your trope is a guilty pleasure, please specify in the propaganda section.
Additionally, all rules from the BTES apply, including:
TVTropes is a site for tropes found in all media, including medium-specific tropes, but for this tournament we're going to ask that you stick to tropes that can be found in any story regardless of the medium it's told in. So no video-game-specific, musical-specific, movie-specific, or any other medium-specific tropes. (For example, the I Want Song is not a valid submission because it is only found in musical media)
Genre-specific tropes, however, are fine and okay.
Tropes can be as obscure as you want, but remember that the more popular a trope is, the more likely it is to get votes.
Regarding sex tropes: While I don't want this tournament getting too NSFW, I also recognize that sex often has a narrative purpose and plays a unique role in the story. Thus, my general rule on that front is going to be: no tropes about specific sexual acts or parts of the sex act, but tropes about sex in general are okay.
Propaganda is highly encouraged and makes the tournament far more interesting for everyone involved (both on the submission form and in the ask box throughout the tournament).
For this tournament, I'm going to soften the rule around offensive and problematic tropes, because I know they can sometimes be guilty pleasures: for example, the gay-coded villain trope might be a guilty pleasure for queer people who like to see queer characters being epic and evil. So, the new rule is: offensive and problematic tropes are allowed in theory, but will be rejected by default unless there is a good enough explanation in the propaganda for why it makes a good guilty pleasure.
Resubmissions from both seasons of the BTES, the WTES, and the MATS are allowed, with the exception of the BTES winners (Found Family and Odd Friendship).
Have fun and happy submitting! Tagging @tournament-announcer.

Welcome...
to the best-youtube-video-bracket. My second tournament and a fun one. Ive had this idea for a while. So how does it work. Well it's actually pretty simple.
You submit your favorite YouTube videos. There is no limit to how many you can submit!! Go crazy and have fun.
The only restriction of what you can submit is just nothing hateful against minorities and whatnot. <3
The bracket size you say? Well that entirely dependent on how much you submit. Same with how long the submission phase is. I want it to be on the longer end but who knows.
As you can tell this is very improvy. This is not a serious tourney so dont expect it to be.
Here's the submission form :3
Also my profile is from Battle for Niche Internet Fame. Tumblrs in it. Check it out!!

Clone Show Down Part 2
Hey all, I originally started this blog in October, 2023. I decided in 2025 I wanted to finish it! So without further ado:

Hi all! Welcome to clone show down. Two is better than one! Do you have a character that's a copy of another character? Submit them here!
Tagging:
@tournament-announcer
Rules and Guidelines:
Real clones (Dolly the sheep, self-cloning organisms, etc) will be allowed!
Identical twins are not allowed
All fictional clones are allowed: Organic 🦠, Robots 🤖, Aliens 👽, or anything else!
This includes: shadow selves, alternate selves, etc.
Large groups of clones will be allowed, but counted as 1 submission unless they are specifically given individual names (ex. The Clones from Attack of the Clones)
If the character who is a clone is a spoiler, I will try to tag it appropriately, be wary when scrolling through the list of submitted characters
Have fun!
The numbers of characters in the poll will likely be at least 128, though may be more based on number of submissions. I will be using the submissions submitted during the original run of this poll, but will also open submissions through March 20th, 2025.
Encourage people to submit your favs, the tournament will be largely determined by number of submissions!

Poll Information
This is a poll to determine which food is best. To begin, there will be a round-robin type tournament, allowing for continuous submissions. After ten losses, a food will be eliminated in order to avoid an unmanageable bracket. Number of contestants is determined by number of submissions. Preemptive FAQs, to be adjusted off of actual questions.
Propaganda:
Propaganda is encouraged. Anything initially submitted will be added to a singular post per food, which will be linked on each poll. I may add propaganda submitted later to that initial post, depending on volume.
What Counts as a Food:
Anything one can taste and consume. For example, drinks count as food. A concrete block or lava would not count as food. Dirt from the ground could count. This is up to my judgement. Food that only exists in fiction doesn’t count, but food inspired by it does. Lembas would not be food, but some sort of bread you decide to call lembas would, you just have to submit a recipe. Feel free to submit something, if it doesn’t show up then I’ve decided it isn’t food.
What is the Recipe Field:
Please submit recipes! It’s not required, but will help when determining what a food is. Also I want to make things.
Who Wins/When is this Over:
It ends either when we run out of submissions, I get too busy (might just pause), or I decide to implement a secondary bracket to declare a winner. We’ll see. A food can definitely loose.
