the science of doomscrolling
at least from a personal point of view. not having a schedule or agenda lends to the opportunity for whatever to slip. in this crevice lies the misunderstood sense of boredom. a little of it is enough to catalyse the need to fill up our lives, thus we reach out to the neverending novelty of the internet machine.
the driver, boredom, as quoted by alan watts is indeed THE problem. it is the flip side of creativity, which I have regarded it as vanilla or a blank canvas--just itching to be filled by an aspiring ape aiming to make a name for themselves.
so what do we do here? we have powerful enough technology that could instantly bring endless entertainment into our time that makes us forget ourselves. in wild teeming anarchy, bringing order means enforcement. in comes the executive function of keeping things in line--temperance.

Review: Anora 5*
Just got back and encountered two cockroaches in the kitchen. One got away urgh. Left the window open at the kitchen accidentally.
I wanted to be discreet heading into Anora and thought it was going to be purely a sexy film. I went to the cinema alone. It did feel like I was heading to the strip club for a brief moment, in the depths of my ignorance. However, I was comforted by the appearance of the Turkish Luke Skywalker reminding us, harshly, to turn our phones off.
The plot? I thought it was brilliant. The plot and the plot. I thought the sex scenes were brief and respectful. I was entertained by the story and the character dynamics as the henchmen, the cast and Anora set off all over New York and Vegas. It was a tragic comedy. No, more like comedic tragedy. Or are we too comfortable making fun of people’s misfortune nowadays? Although I am not entirely sure if the audience’s laughter were genuine sometimes.
Mikey Madison did a terrific job with her New York accent, partly curious about that going into this. I only saw her act in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It was hilarious how she reacted to the entire situation when there was a switch up. They all acted and did what they thought was right to them, according to their worldview. The boomer priest was loyal to the family as his career to the Oligarchs and his own family are on the line, he had no other choice, the Armenian lackeys underestimated Anora but had to do the job anyway and Anora reacted the way she did as she did not know any other way.
I wouldnt mind watching it again. One of the better films I have watched in recent memory.

Review: Swensens Unlimited @ Changi Airport T2 4.3*
From the get go, I thought things were going horribly wrong however, as I, used to resort to imagined powers of defeatism—I just realised that a large group of people can easily bring chaos in an ordered setting.
I arrived at Changi Airport MRT and had to backtrack as I headed to the wrong Swensens. Swensens Unlimited is set apart from the usual Swensens chain.
A baggage tumbled down violently, rattling down an escalator as the owner gasped helplessly. Everybody in front of me looked over behind to see the physical interaction of gravity on a traveller’s belongings.
A cook gently requests one of the waiters for a fork who roughly declined and asked him to check with another chef. I sidestepped the scene as my mind wounds up a scene where I play a hero and hand the cook a fork, silencing the waiter and violating hygienic regulations
A waitress slipped and fell over 2 meters behind where my colleagues were sitting. I did not see or hear what happened. Apparently it caused a commotion. The said waitress dropped a plate 10 minutes later as one of my colleagues exclaimed that today is just not her day.
The food though, was excellent. This is the second time we have been here. The first time was about 3 months ago. It did feel smaller as we had already knew what to expect. We paced ourselves accordingly and did not suffer the weight of overfeeding ourselves.
I have unlocked an old childhood flavour of ice cream which is yam. I stopped eating yam because primary school kids would pick fun of me for eating something gross and purple. You know what? Fuck you kids. I eat whatever I find pleasing.
Heard that they are opening a new Swensens Unlimited at Vivocity. I will see if my workmates would want to check that out in future outings.

i have been wanting to listen to this album and tried to understand it in a while. however, when i get down to ‘clelia walking’, my attention drifts into the nearest social media hell hole.
this album, i have found, requires my full attention, almost to a meditative hyperawareness to capture all or most of the details. sure, i find myself drifting at points as the songs weave in and out of movements and found myself wondering how i get that place in full focus. when I do pay listen to the elements present, i find that they interact with one another always with a presence of dissonance, often with more instruments than i thought there are.
it wasnt that bad actually. it felt like a natural progression from ‘dowsing anemone with copper tongue’, albeit moving away from consonance to more a more dissonant sound.

Ego in music
Ego is tightly linked with feelings of entitlement in music. The logic usually says, I’m putting this amount of work and effort into my music, therefore I’m owed things from other people. When artists complain about another band’s success or lament that their music isn't performing as well as they’d like with streaming platforms and on blogs, these are ego problems.
Dylan has suggested he couldn’t write the songs he wrote in his 20s in his later years, at least not in the same way or with the same instinct, largely because, after that early momentum has fizzled out, things settle down into simply the thing that you do, with all the humdrum ennui associated with that.

Years ago, I found an interesting marketing study somewhere on the web about “Lego” and why there is so much “theme-oriented” Lego, like Star Wars-Lego, Lord of the Rings-Lego, Harry Potter-Lego and Biff and Bim-Lego, and not much basic Lego bricks anymore, as I remember from my childhood: Because “the customer is too overwhelmed by the flexible choices and isn’t able to develop the creativity needed to build really cool things”

got stuck trying to play around with bossa rhythms, quite fun too to figure out the puzzle. i actually had to record to ableton and see how the midi notes look like before letting my hands have a feel of how they are coordinated.
