I'm so excited to finally be able to post this! Our kids are dressed as monsters from an MMO called Ragnarok Online. It was my first online game, and I really loved it!

The game is heavily inspired by Norse mythology, and this place they're in is Niflheim, a dangerous place full of monsters and a very creepy town. Phoebe is a Sohee, Gerald is a Bongun, mine and my husband's characters are a Bathory and a Skeleton Archer, and we've got Arnold as a Jakk (without the pumpkin head) and Helga as a Loli Ruri, with her monitor lizard in cat ears taking the place of Loli Ruri's black cat. We've also got Ludes (the yellow ghosts, residents of Niflheim) and a Giant Whisper (the big white ghost)!

This was very fun to do! I used the official art for the Loli Ruri card as a reference for colors and the background, while putting my own spin on it.

And although that's true, I think in terms of narrative, he'd still struggle in this context. BUT HE SHOULDN'T

This was soooo hard! It was supposed to be a lighting exercise, with light from the TV and from the window behind and to the side. I forgot to take the colors we already had into consideration, so this is a little wonky, but practice makes perfect, I suppose.

I've been having a bit of an art block for a while, so I picked something to practice, which turned out to be one of @sorssora 's adorable pictures! (seriously, her stuff is the cutest, go check it out!) This particular one was just a sweater, a beanie, and a scarf, so I needed someone to wear them (although I changed the scarf), and Phoebe was a perfect fit! Then I thought she needed to be somewhere, so I looked up some references for cool bookstores to draw this one. There were a bunch of fliers in the reference photos, so I asked the discord for some inspiration, and the awesome @the_good_enchantress gave me some epic designs and ideas! I couldn't use them all, but I did use three inside the shop!

In the end, this turned out to be a really fun piece to draw and color, even though I was basically winging everything. Hope you guys like! =)

Day 8 - Creator's choice: Wish

"I wish to spend the rest of my life with you."

Last but not least, the companion piece to day 7: the opening of the gift! Now, is this Helga proposing to Arnold, or Arnold proposing to Helga? You decide!

I wanted to make a blurry style background with the pencils like I did for a Christmas piece a while ago, but I feel like I didn't study how different colors would look well enough. It was still a good learning experience, and I hope to do better next time!

I'm also suuuuuuuper proud of that mermaid's pendant! =D

And there we have it, the final piece for Shortaki Week. It's been a wild ride, lots of sleep missed, but I managed to do everything I set out to do this year, so I'm really proud of myself! Hope everyone's enjoyed Shortaki Week, whether they made one piece, three, all eight, or just drooled over the pretty pictures. You guys are awesome!!

Day 7 - promises to keep, grasp, pink

We're finally in Winter, and it's my favorite festival, the Feast of the Winter Star. Helga and Arnold lucked out with the gift-giver drawing, so they got special presents for each other and are making the kids promise to keep it a secret. As for grasp, well, everyone IS holding something that they REALLY don't want to drop, so...

Little known fact: in Stardew Valley, if you leave out cookies or milk on a table for Santa, you get a Mystery Box in the morning!

Lastly, funny story: while I was napping my pet cockatiel ATE a piece of my drawing! After going through the five stages of grief, I was able to frankenstein a patch in photoshop with a photo I had taken the day before.

Day 6 - eyes closed, sacrifice, picnic

Giving up that Sweet Gem Berry in the first year was hard, but worth it in the end!

I'm gonna be honest, this one almost drove me crazy. It has been the most challenging of all the pictures this year so far, and I can still point out things that are wrong with it. But at least I tried some new things, and this is about 85% of what I wanted, so I guess I can still call this a win!

Shortaki Week Day 5 - Side by side, scarf, oceans

Fall is upon us now! Here they are enjoying a lovely sunrise from in front of Robin's house - it's a great view!

I challenged myself a bunch on this one and the next one, doing stuff I've never done before. Here, it was the sunrise over the water. I hope it's passable for a first time!

Ever wonder how some people are able to get a red cabbage in their first year? They're the Junimos' favorites, I tell you!

Shortaki Week Day 3 - Mesmerize, trapped, roleplaying

It's summer! This one really gave me some trouble trying to think of how to fit all the prompts, so again, I had to get a little creative. The crab pot's got trash trapped in it because it seems that's what almost always happens to my crab pots in the game, lol.

As for the roleplaying, I kept thinking of DnD, and, well, if anybody's gonna be playing it on the beach, it's Sebastian and Abby!

Also, quick thing I forgot to mention: in Day 2, the little Harlequin doll was inspired by @shortlilpen 's Harlequin Helga design!

Another improvement this year compared to last year is that I planned things out better to be able to post drawings on time!

About this one, Arnold and Helga have arrived at their new home! I had to get a little creative with the prompts, but I think they still work!

Darn that raccoon, it's a good thing it and its family are so cute! ><

Shortaki Week Day 1 - Blacktop, Sugar, Jazz

This year I set one goal for myself: to be better than last year! So I gave myself a bunch of little challenges, such as using all 3 prompts every day somehow and making the 8 panels tell a story! And since I've been playing Stardew Valley nonstop since the new update in March, I decided to make our favorite couple move to Pelican Town!

I tried to use lots of new techniques I've learned in my art classes over the past year, such as using specific color palettes to set a mood, feel, and lighting, and though I've learned a few tricks to get the picture looking the same on screen as it does on paper, it's still a work in progress!

Yay, it's Valentine's Day! Here in Brazil people celebrate it on June 12th, so I just celebrate both!

This piece was a lot quicker to finish than I expected; probably because I drew it small, and there were no large parts to color! Oh, and the little seals at the bottom are an inside joke from Discord XD
