During the walk, I thought about the love that I want. I want a soft love. A healthy, soft, coherent love without doing an obstacle course to reach someone's heart. I've never had that before, but I know for sure that I deserve it.

Halloween is approaching and we have been highlighting some of the odd, creepy, absurd, or stranger cuts in our print shop, especially from the Lewis Winter Collection.

Lewis Winter had a photo and wood engraving business at 627 J Street in Sacramento from 1888 until 1910 when he closed his business to teach art at Sacramento High School. Much of these cuts were designed for advertising purposes in local Sacramento newspapers.

In this video, Howard letterpress printed an electrotype (copy of a woodcut) likely used in a men’s hat advertisement. This man, however, has three heads. He’s wearing a nice suit to go along with his two top hats and derby hat. This was printed with blue rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.
