I am having thoughts about Geordi teaching Data to paint.
Because Geordi's way of seeing is often viewed by others as less valuable from an artistic standpoint. People are constantly assuming that he can't see beauty because he sees differently.
Data is constantly told that he can't understand art or creativity because of the way he engages with those things. That his logical approach to art means that his art has no value, even though his unique perspective is what makes his art so interesting.
But in deciding to teach him to paint, Geordi is saying that that there is something inherently valuable in what an android creates, in what Data creates.
And in turn, in accepting his offer, Data is saying that Geordi's perspective on visual art is important, that his view of beauty is just as valuable as a sighted person, and that there is something a blind man can teach him about painting.
"I believe you can create something beautiful," Geordi says.
And Data responds, "I trust you to appreciate it."

My sister has been watching Mork & Mindy, a 70s sitcom where Robin Williams is an alien sent to observe Earth and ends up befriending and living with (and eventually marrying) a human woman. And she just had an episode on where they were having money problems, so Mork tried to expose himself as an alien to get money for them, and Mindy and her father pretend to also be aliens so no one will believe Mork and do anything to him. But the dad walks in wearing two Star Trek props!

My secret is that my wife was in an extremely bad period in her life when she entered into a contest for knitting supplies. She loved knitting as a teenager and wanted to get back into it as an adult, but felt like we couldn't afford it. She wouldn't buy anything, and wouldn't let me get anything for her because it would be "a waste of money." So when she got an email from a knitting newsletter she followed talking about the contest, she entered and won third place - a little basic kit that got her excited to start and started pulling her out of her dark place.
This is when you go "aha. You cheeky devil. Did you cheat slmehow? Is that your secret?" But no. My secret is, I faked it all. I created a fake knitting blog, and sent it to her as "something I found." I ran it for a few months talking about made up craft projects with photos off the internet and things. Then I faked the contest, sold some of my possessions to buy the "prize" and let her win. Six months later I stopped posting and she didn't even notice. She still talks about that prize she won as turning her life around, and she'll never know I invented the whole thing.
Now this is some real lover shit!!!

ok so imagine you’re in a situationship with a guy and he gets upset because you accepted your enemy-turned-tentative ally’s offer to share a psychic link with him and the living ship you’re all on which sure maybe that’s little weird but it’s made ten times worse by the fact that the living ship does not like said guy and deceived him into thinking you’d also slept with your enemy-turned-tentative ally and were keeping it from him. also approximately three days ago the guy was split into perfect duplicates and the other version of him is chilling with your buddies on a different living ship

Miles O'Brien killed a simulated man who never really existed and spent an entire episode agonising over it.
Julian Bashir killed a very real alternate universe version of Odo and never batted an eye.
