Fall is one of Akechi's preferred seasons. The weather is milder, and he can wear clothes that he feels far more comfortable in. He's waiting outside of Penguin Sniper for Akira, and he places his phone into his pocket as he sees the other arrive. A small, genuine smile forms as he beckons with his head toward the entrance.

It should be something akin to a routine for the two of them by now, but it's broken by a hand reaching out and plucking something out of Akechi's hair. It snags and drags a few strands into his face, and Goro stares in mild surprise as Akira's hand produces a leaf.

Akechi flushes, faintly, laughing in a bit of embarrassment as he reaches up to fix his hair, tucking the stray stands back behind his ear. "Ah, thank you for that. I didn't even notice it."

The storm had rolled in quickly and without warning. It had been overcast for most of the day, but the sky had seemed to grow darker within minutes, and then suddenly the rain was pouring down with a vengeance.

Akechi was hunkered beneath an awning, a few blocks away from the subway station. He shifted, anxiously, from one foot to the other. Occasionally, he'd peek from beneath the awning, hoping to see if there was a break coming up soon. If he'd had nothing with him, running to the station wouldn't have been a problem, but he had his laptop with him, and he couldn't afford to risk any damage to it.

Just when it was seeming all hope was lost, and if he wanted to get home before nightfall began he would have to run for it and hope that his briefcase could offer enough protection, a familiar face appeared.

"Amamiya?" Akechi questions, surprised at the appearance of the other. The offer to share the umbrella is met with a genuine smile from the detective, and he slips beneath it, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Ren.

"I appreciate this," he says, glancing to the other as they walk toward the station. "I was worried I would be stuck there all night!" The words leave him with that easy, practiced laugh that he has, a gloved hand even coming up to cover his mouth. Even though Akechi was growing fond of the time he spent with Ren, he couldn't entirely drop the act of the prince, after all.

"I wasn't expecting you would still be here," Goro says, truthfully, surprising himself. "Then again, you did seem to take to the city. I suppose going back to the country could be difficult after getting a taste of what it's like to live in Tokyo."

It has been over a year since the last time Goro Akechi had stepped foot inside of Leblanc. Fifteen months, to be exact. There had been Shido's trial, which had been a grueling process, and then he'd been kept in a behavioral health facility.

While his personality seems to be mostly the same, there are some varied differences in Akechi. He's a bit thinner, the roundness of his cheeks having faded. His hair has grown longer, just past his shoulders. He's pulled it into a low ponytail.

"You look like you've been well," he says, eyeing Akira up and down before he picks his mug up to take another sip of coffee.

The hand locking around his wrist is surprising. Goro's forced to come to a halt, head jerking back around to stare at Akira. There's a myriad of emotions on the detective's face: surprise, then anger, then something else - a more reserved, cautious emotion that disappears into neutrality as fast as it had formed.

"What are you doing?"

Akechi's voice sounds mostly monotonous, if not a bit annoyed, but there's something else beneath - a weariness. He hasn't pulled away from the other yet, allowing Akira to hold him in place, but he hasn't moved to reciprocate any sort of contact, either. His hand is limp, fingers hanging loosely.

His other hand, however, the one still resting by his side, has curled its fingers into a loose fist.
