“Good boy, Yosuke! Now, you should really get some sleep!”

Well, that was one way to get Yosuke in bed. An accomplished, smug grin spread onto Teddie’s face and he bent down to give Yosuke a kiss on the forehead.

“I’m gunna go take a walk, and I’m gunna come back in one piece! Don’t worry about me, okay? Worry about you, first!”

Teddie made an audible huff, then abruptly walked towards Yosuke and started shoving him back into their bedroom.

“Go to bed, Yosuke! You sound unbearable!”

He used Yosuke’s illness to his advantage, so Teddie could actually maybe be stronger than him for once. He really didn’t want Yosuke to be worrying about him when he was sick (again). 

The most likely thing that was going to happen was that Teddie would sneak into his sensei’s house and maybe bunk with him or Nana-chan. He would be safe and nobody would have to stress over him.  But, now that Yosuke mentioned it, a snack did also sound pretty good.

He hugged Marie tightly, still sobbing. It was a pathetic sight to behold, and would probably make anyone sad that was within a city block’s radius.

“I- I- I’m s-sorry, M-Marie-ch-chan I- I thought- I-”

At this point, he couldn’t even form words. So, he gave up on that and just clung to her.

Teddie giggled and hugged Yosuke tightly. His stomach growled, and his horns whirred in circles.

“I’m probably going to perish if I don’t eat soon! Can we get a....fill a min yawn? Is that what Chie called it?”

He had been asleep for a really long time, and Teddie was excited to be up and moving again. It just hit him that he really needed to pee, and he abruptly sprinted off to the bathroom.

“Ugh, I feel like I jus’ woke up from a….kuma. Did…was I hi-bear-nating again?”

Teddie cracked a big smile at Yosuke, waiting to get the look that he gets after making such un-bear-able puns.

He wasn’t even going to comment on the pun right now, but he couldn’t stop the more than done look from appearing on his face.

“Bingo, ya dumb bear. Welcome to spring, and enjoy the—Nah, jokes on you. It’s still freezing outside. You’re probably starving, though, huh?…

The more Teddie listened, the more upset he became. She was right...everyone was going to be gone, and Teddie and Marie would be the only ones left. If their lives were truly infinite, then he’d even outlive Nana-chan. Teddie bit his lower lip, a desperate attempt to hold back a flood of tears.

He began sobbing anyways.

All of his friends’ deaths began flooding his head...watching them all grow old and weak, and then  d y i n g. Teddie would be left unchanged, and watching the world go on around him. Even if he made new friends, they’d eventually leave him as well. It would be an endless chain of   l o n e l i n e s s.

Even Marie’s offer for ice cream couldn’t save Teddie now; even if in any other instance it would. Teddie became a sobbing mess, unable to escape the prison of his own thoughts.

“Hey, Marie? You’re…you’re not human, right?”

Teddie looked at her. He seemed not exactly sad…but sullen maybe.

“Wha- no! It doesn’t bother me at all! I- I was just making sure...”

He looked down and away from her, fidgeting with his fingers a little bit. Surely, if it did bother him, he’d be a huge hypocrite and he knew it.

A few moments later, he looked at her again.

“Do...do you ever feel like you don’t belong here? Like, with our friends?”

This thought had crossed Teddie’s mind a great number of times, and he usually tried his best to shake it off...but it got overwhelming sometimes and he needed someone to talk to who would understand from personal experience.
