Splatter and Dodge are two obscure characters I love and it’s about time I manifest what they look like in my head. Here are D10’s lil minions.

My question for Douglas (Cuz of course it is lol) How did you feel when it’s was just Donald who was going to be sent to Sodor and/or how did the plan for you to escape to Sodor come to be?

Context — Donnie and Dougie had less self identity at the start, and were both still getting used to their weird bodies when arriving to Sodor. This means they were in ‘proto form’ (this raw state with less cosmetics such as skin) and they struggled when working leading to Sir Hatt waffling back and forth between who he kept. The twins were both on their way to get scrapped. When Donald was ordered to Sodor, Douglas stowed away with him hoping they would both be kept. It wasn’t so much that they escaped to Sodor, rather that one of them did while the other was bought to work there.

Donald has a mishap which leads to him needing repairs, and has Sir Hatt considering Douglas as the engine he keeps. But when Douglas needs repairs after pushing himself too hard to help James and prove himself for the both of them, their future is uncertain and the two brothers have to contemplate being sent to scrap or separated.

Douglas, originally the one running away, becomes the one who has a better chance of staying, leading to him being the one who kept them both going.

Their turmoil is a lot harder to ignore when they’re no longer just locomotives, but beings with body language, expressions, and touch, and Sir Hatt caves, keeping both brothers on his railway. With less fear over being picked or separated, Donnie and Dougie begin to become individuals a little more, with their hair styles changing and their styles becoming more elegant.

Oliver and his Siblings

On the GWR, Oliver worked the line with many others just like him, including Duck and his two favorite siblings, Oswald and Jessica who were built only a few days before him. They were the most dynamic trio you could think of.

Oliver being the peppy young kid, filed with hope and joy for the future, Oswald being the shy nerdy rule follower and Jessica being the sassy and sarcastic older one, making sure to humble both her colleagues and her siblings. Life was perfect for them until well...

It wasn't.

Diesels would come onto the railway, slowly but surely replacing every puff of steam and every engine who dared to puff. One by one Oliver's siblings and friends were being scrapped or sent away to different parts of the country and he didn't like it. After years of this process, it was finally time for BR to decide Oswald, Jessica and Oliver's fate, they ordered for all of them to be scrapped.

Their lives soon shattered, first Jessica went, showing she had no care for her life anymore, made lousy mistakes, lashed out at passengers and threw tantrums daily. Then Oswald, anxiously making silly mistakes thinking if he was perfect, he could be saved but alas his efforts were in vain. Finally it was Oliver's turn...

But Oliver had other plans, he took his most faithful breakvan Toad, and his two most reliable coaches, Isabel and Dulcie. They left that night and never looked back but he could always feel a presence. a familiar feeling of warmth even in the dead of autumn nights. Oliver had a hunch Oswald and Jessica were cheering him on from beyond the cutter's torch, hoping he lives to tell all of their tales.

*Cue the escape episode blah blah blah Douglas saves him and he's brought to Sodor*

"Well Mr. Oliver we did it. Do you think they're proud of you?"

"Absolutely."
