There's a cautious brush of his fingers against the thing's head; and an astonished grin lights up his face, slightly surprised by the smooth texture.
"Whoa. I never seen anything like you. Do you want to be friends?"
“Yawn…?" Now this was a time that telepathy we was just talking about would have come in handy.

"That's all?"  Charlie relaxed his arm a bit, speaking normally.  He felt a bit of accomplishment with the older's faint smile, retiring the bottle as it's done it's job.
"You're right..." he says, solemnly. "I shouldn't talk to strangers.  Daddy would be so mad. But..."  He stands, still not much taller than the bar stool itself.  His eyes scan the room in an exaggerated manner, before returning to the man.
"But, he's not here right now.  Besides, you won't hurt me, right?"
He might have noticed the boy if he had been paying attention. Henry was drawn easily to things that felt out of place, even if faintly. He’d been dealing with the sighting of ghosts and other strange phenomena for nearly two years now. But he didn’t notice the strange child pilfering bottles off the bar counter. He’d sat down without even a thought that there might be someone else who wasn’t quite normal.
Henry asked for a beer before the high pitched voice caught his attention. There was a bottle with an odd little face marked on it. Behind said bottle was a boy who couldn’t have been more than eight or nine years old. In the dim lighting, Henry didn’t notice anything too off, but he felt it—just a little. Despite the faint discomfiture, Henry felt a small smile quirk his lips.
“Long day.” He said, voice a little hoarse from disuse. He wondered if it would disappear all together should he continue with these long bouts of silence. Henry glanced around the bar, seeking out someone who might have been watching after the child. There didn’t seem to be anyone. “You should be with your parents…I…doubt they want you talking to strangers.”

Day 3 Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they don’t have any, is there a reason?
Ahahaha...
Well, before being stuffed in a canvas sack and left to drown at the bottom of a lake... Charlie suffered a massive blow to the head.
I mentioned this before in the previous one, about his scar if his bangs were pushed back.  If he were a bit stronger when the abduction happened, there's a chance he would have escaped alive.  But him trying to fight off Napier just ended in him getting knocked out cold and drowned...
I actually have a detailed hc about the abduction itself, but it's kind of.. ;;  I don't see a reason to go into it unless someone asks.

Despite the dull and lackluster environment, it was still easy to find some sort of enjoyment out of here.  In fact, Charlie was having a blast snatching the emptied bottles off of the too tall counter top--it might have taken a bit of effort to reach, but it was worth seeing the confused bartender recounting for the missing bottles again and again.  She'd always overlook the boy; he was on the far end of the bar and would duck underneath the stool whenever the woman would lean over to inspect. It was effective, but it lost it's merriment almost as fast as it came.   It seemed the woman had lost interest or care that the bottles were missing, and so Charlie sat bored once more. Idly he began to stack the three of four bottles he thieved, his eyes catching the newcomer sit at the stool next to him and haphazardly throw his belongings on the ground.  The aura he brought with him was something that Charlie could recognize almost immediately and he could feel the heaviness weighing them both down.  He thinks for a moment to himself, an idea slowly forming in his head as she searched his pockets for the permanent market he'd found recently--yes, there it is!  Taking one of the bottles, he quickly sketches a crude face on the surface.                           "Hey there, mister!"  He even disguised his voice to a higher pitch for the character he just created, peeking it's freshly drawn on eyes over the stranger's leg.  Perhaps this might improve his mood?                           "Why the looong face?"  He snickers at his own joke, his hand falling to swing at his side as he waited patiently for a response.
Tumblr media
No one gave him any strange looks as he walked into the bar. Bars were the one place that the haggard, world-weary, and run-down wouldn’t be questioned. Or, at the very least, they wouldn’t be judged. He could take a seat at the end of the bar and pretend the world outside didn’t exist. Henry liked the anonymity the dim lighted interior held. He could be as quiet and moody as he wanted without anyone giving a shit—not that anyone usually did. He was no longer in contact with the few people that did care. His choice, really.
Henry settled on the bar stool. His backpack dropped gently to the ground. He heard the laptop and the other contents click together. Part of him didn’t even care that he was treating his cameras rather harshly. Time changed a person. Things that once seemed important, weren’t all that important at all. Where once he’d felt the weight of the world on his shoulders, now he felt blank and empty. The visions still came, the headaches persisted, and his life was a mess but the world persisted on without noticing, so he figured he’d spite the world and continue existing.
Even if it was just to wander the States, hide in sleazy bars, and pretend he didn’t.

Day 2  What are your characters most prominent physical features?
I'm actually going to reinvent lil' dead Charlie in this one, considering his whole being is kind of all of his prominent features.
Okay, so initially I had him rotting, missing an eye, bleeding, bruised, and waterlogged -- basically how he looked when his body was pulled out of the lake.  (minus the eye and the rotting--those came in later, after a few months of deterioration and digging himself out of his own grave.)
I imagined he could change his appearance, detach and reattach limbs at will, and basically a bunch of other undead supernatural stuff I wanted to in cooperate.
I'm going to actually change this up a little bit (a lot) because--I don't know, it always felt like it was kind of random?  I have little to no reason or continuity with his supernatural ability, there's no real basis for it.  He can just do these things because I wanted him to, and that's all.  I think I should use a guideline or set up some sort of rules so I can justify why he's a walking spirit now.  And besides that, it's really confusing and a lot to remember for my partners.  (and sometimes I would forget too!)
Let's start with what I originally pulled from, the Wiedergänger.
This is basically a German version of a zombie--but the real difference is that they can pretty much have the same cognitive ability and skill as a living person... which is what I really wanted for Charlie.   I just sort of see it as a zombie/ghost mix, where living beings can see him but he can remember things from his previous life, like a ghost.
So.  That's what he is, essentially.
I know that this has nothing to do with his appearance so far, but bare with me.  I feel like his origin is important for understanding why he looks a certain way.
We'll break this up into SH terms, since he has two versions of appearance: default and nightmare.
Default, at a glance, whatever you'd like to call it is akin to the rundown, empty, abandoned Silent Hill.  Nothing too terrifying about it besides the eerie vibe it gives off, but there's nothing dangerous, etc, etc.  (idk if there is a technical term for this silent hill like there is for the otherworld).
Default Charlie is pale, ghostly, translucent in the skin department.  His hair is a much darker brown, could be mistaken for black in poor light.  Push his bangs back and there are scars where Napier most likely hit him and faint bruises all over his body.  Both his eyes are intact, though one having a noticeable dark ring around it as if he were recently punched.
He's easy to miss.  His presence doesn't stand out.  It's like he's not there.  It's hard to explain the exact feeling he gives off when looking at him, but think of looking at a really old picture you had stashed away for a while and noticing something in the background you'd never picked up on your entire life.  It's like that... best example I can really think of.
Most of my threads he will look like this unless it's plainly stated that the location is the Otherworld.
Nightmare Charlie, or the Charlie that appears in the Otherworld, is kind of the same as I had him before.  I probably won't roleplay this version of him often unless someone asks me to or the situation calls for it, because he's quite literally a monster.
Walks with a limp, clicks when he's speaking, much more solid, more real.  He's missing an eye.   He's bleeding from his wounds.  His skin rots, some of his teeth are missing, his clothes are torn and disgusting.  He smells dead, and he will attack if provoked enough.
Still more docile than others, though.  He'll avoid most people.

Day 1      Describe your character’s relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
'Spoiled rotten' is probably a bit of an understatement, but not in the traditional sense; he never really asked for much, but when he did, it was usually something that exceeded his expectations to the maximum level.
Honestly, everything was (mostly) perfect in his eyes.  It was hard to find something to complain about with both his parents around, which they usually were.  Perhaps he had a bit of an issue with the extra homework his mother would give him time to time--what seven year old wouldn't?--but it wasn't like he had any behavioral issues.  more like he didn't have any time to develop any
Discipline was never a problem, nor neglect, nor communication.  It's unfortunate that he's a walker now, as some of these may come to surface postmortem.
