ㅤalso, because i keep running into people who insist that james was an evil person, let me just say: try again. saying he's "the type to divorce his spouse if they got sick" .... lol. he most certainly did not divorce her; for three years, he watched it quite literally eat away at her physically and mentally and had to endure hate and abuse when she wasn't herself

ㅤthe whole point about their storyline is love... love and frustration and guilt and how they can (and do) coexist when it comes to relationships and how watching a diseased loved one suffer is excruciating and comes with understandably mixed emotions

ㅤyou can be angry and frustrated that your life is upended by their needs, you can miss the person they used to be, you can feel a sense of relief when they finally pass and are no longer suffering, and most of all, you can feel guilty for thinking all of those things! the whole point is that james could not continue to deny every conflicting emotion that's attached to his grief or it would swallow him whole!

ㅤhe is arguably one of the most realistically nuanced protagonists we've ever received in a game and the fact that people are so quick to shit on and dismiss him as a terrible person who hated his wife really tells me who's lost a loved one to an ongoing health battle and who hasn't, as well as who has a fundamental misunderstanding of this game and its themes
