i hate how you get desensitized to the cool stuff in your WIP if you've been writing it for a long time so when you read back over it you're like "this isn't as cool as i thought :(" but it still is! you just read it too many times

Most hoard images from Wikipedia.
Found with the rest of the hoard, the handaxe pictured above was probably found either while digging his own hole for the treasure or maybe earlier in a precious bout of hoarding by some Romano-Briton who thought it was cool enough to bury along with all of his coins and Juliane's bracelet, because cool rock. This was absolutely the correct move.
Article here from Smithsonian Magazine.

I don't usually care for converted barns, but this one is exceptional. The 1869 barn in Woodstock, NY was converted to a home in 2020. It has 4bds, 4ba, 3,172sqft, $1.495m.
There are several entrances, lots of open space, natural light, and levels. The living room has lovely sky blue doors.
It's large and the various living areas are well spread out.
One of the 4 baths is practically in the living room. It's got stained glass walls and a rusty antique tub.
Going from the living room to the kitchen and dining room, the sunken dining room is separated by a chicken wire fence. A glimpse of the floor above is also visible.
This is lovely. A large chandelier hangs above the table, there's a beautiful stained glass window above the sliding glass doors to the pool, and a large rustic fireplace. You can see the large bright kitchen and the room above on the left.
Here, you can see the 3 stairs down.
I didn't expect a retro kitchen with pink appliances. The round kitchen is located in the silo.
All the windows let in lots of light.
Love the appliances and clock.
The layout is a little confusing b/c, as usual, the listing photos are completely mixed up. These appear to be the living room stairs coming up to this level, which is a large bedroom with a sofa and more stairs. I would say that this is the primary bedroom.
The bathroom is mostly open, except for some draperies. The sliding door is probably for the toilet and it also slides across to provide privacy for the tub.
The stairs have swinging doors that open to a catwalk.
It goes over the lower floor to spiral stairs in the silo.
They lead down to another bedroom. This is nice.
This bath is cute- have you ever seen the poop emoji done in stained glass? I also like the avocado wallpaper.
I'm confused by all the stairs and levels.
But, here's another bath with a sliding barn door.
The barn door, may, open to this 3rd level room, the top of the silo. I think that this is supposed to be the 4th bedroom.
Back downstairs a 2nd kitchen has access to the patio & pool.
This is very nice and there's also a large rooftop deck.
I like the roof design. They've got a nice garden out front, and a deck.
5.85 acres of land.
It lights up nicely at night.

Al Jazeera has published the names of every journalist killed since Oct 7th.

231 Palestinian journalists have been slaughtered in Gaza. A whole generation of reporters wiped out while many of their colleagues in the West simply shrugged.

there are two competing sects on this website - one that uses the word "spicy" to mean "neurodivergent" and one that uses the word "spicy" to mean "sexual content." i do not like either of them

I feel like in the rush of “throw out etiquette who cares what fork you use or who gets introduced first” we actually lost a lot of social scripts that the younger generations are floundering without.

does anyone have that quote that goes something like 'white germans under the nazis lived just fine as long as they were loyal to the state, gave their children to the army, and paid their taxes, and in this sense many americans would be comfortable living under fascism' trying to find who said it but google is giving me jack shit

Okay, you know what? After reading this post, I jokingly said we should all just make a pact to reblog it five times a day forever. So I'm gonna do this louder for the people in the back:
AO3 WAS CREATED BY FANS, FOR FANS
AO3 IS RUN BY FANS (VOLUNTEERS, NO LESS)
AO3 IS PART OF THE NON-PROFIT, ORGANIZATION FOR TRANSFORMATIVE WORKS
AO3 IS NOT OWNED BY ANY COMPANIES AND DOES NOT EARN REVENUE
AO3 OPERATES ON DONATIONS FROM FANS
again:
AO3 WAS CREATED BY FANS, FOR FANS
