Thinking about... robots again...
This time, a little concept my tired brain has fixated on.
A person buys a vr headset that comes with a robot, which plugs into a device allowing games to move the bot according to the movements of npcs. The person uses it and the headset to get realistic feedback for things they wish to learn, like ballroom dancing and stuff that requires a second person.
My brain has latched on to the thought of "what if a bug causes a in-game character to gain sentience and they begin falling for the player". Like eventually the character starts to talk to the player during their sessions and the player, unaware of the character's sentience, thinks nothing of it. At least, till an update which threatens to destroy said character, forces them to telll the player. Making them rush to save the character or fail and lose them forever.
I feel like the player would eventually attach the robot to their computer or something and allow the character to take control of it. So they could experience the real world.
