FO: Isthmus Pullover
I'm really glad to finally have an Isthmus Pullover to wear in the wild! I've also worked on a couple of other in-progress projects. Seeing the WIP Pile diminish makes me feel so good.
I mentioned at the beginning of the year that I wanted to focus on fixing or finishing projects in February. That included picking up my long forgotten Isthmus Pullover from the works-in-progress pile. I started it some time 2017 and as happened frequently at that time in my life, I had to put it down to focus on something else. But it’s finally finished! And I put it down at a good spot. When I…

Ginkgophyte Tee, Finished
My love affair with Pom Pom Quarterly's Spring 2019 issue continues in my Ginkgophyte Tee.
Last year was not a very productive year for me in most units of measurement related to productivity. I knit a few baby gifts, but the only thing I finished for myself was my Ginkgophyte Tee. Ginkgophyte Tee, designed by Emily Greene The Ginkgophyte Tee The Ginkgophyte Tee is just one of the projects I fell in love with from Pom Pom Quarterly’s Spring 2019 issue. This is actually the…

Favorite Baby Gifts to Make
Working through a back log of blog drafts, here are some sweet baby gifts I made 6ish months ago.
I love making baby gifts—they’re fast (usually), they’re cute, they’re great for using up leftovers, did I mention they’re fast? Since friends of mine recently had a baby, I whipped up a few of my favorite baby gifts to make. Here’s a quick round up. Knitted Baby Gifts to Make Elizabeth Zimmermann’s Baby Surprise Jacket is both super easy and simultaneously challenging. The knitting itself is…

Meet Tessa, the Crochet Dinosaur Amigurumi
Meet Tessa, the Crochet Dinosaur Amigurumi
I crocheted the most adorable crochet dinosaur amigurumi for one of my nephews and I’m super excited to show it off. Meet Tessa, the Triceratops!
Tumblr media
It’s really hard to take pictures of amigurumi
In one of my more optimistic moments, which happen from time to time, I decided I would make gifts for my family this year for the holidays. I typically don’t. They all live in Florida and therefore…

Friday Finds
Back with another Friday Finds! Let me know which patterns you're feeling.
Oh hey! Yeah, I know. I know I said I was going to do this more often. And technically, I still am. I got snowballed with a funeral and then an illness and then starting a new job and just haven’t really had any crafting mojo of late. That’s starting to turn around, though, and I really wanted to get another Friday Finds post up, so here we are!
There’s no real rhyme or reason to the…

Friday Finds: We're back, maybe!
Friday Finds: We’re back, maybe!
Tumblr media
New blog friends (hello!) may not know what Friday Finds is. Quite simply, it’s a weekly(ish) collection of patterns (knitting and crochet) that I have selected to feature here on the blog. Originally, the goal was to mostly feature just new patterns, but that’s not the most sustainable for me.
My goal is still to feature a selection of patterns, but they may all not be new. Some of the…

Bronwyn Sweater Swatching for Sweaterday
Getting ready to knit the Bronwyn Sweater, starting with a swatch!
Sweaterday is back and I’m talking Bronwyn Sweater swatching! Swatching is one of my favorite things to talk about. So yes, I am officially that weirdo.
Why do I love swatching?
Well, I don’t necessarily love the process of swatching itself. But I do really like to talk about swatching and in particular, how everyone should be swatching for garments. Swatching is your best bet, unless you…

FO: Weir, a free knitting pattern by Amy Christoffers
I actually finished knitting something! AND THEN WROTE A BLOG. FO: Weir, a free knitting pattern by Amy Christoffers
First project finished of 2020! So what if I started it in August 2019? Details. This is the Weir pattern, a free knitting pattern, designed by Amy Christoffers for Berroco. I knit it in Berroco Arno, and it’s so dreamy.
Tumblr media
This is the perfect basic sweater knitting pattern—straightforward and easy to knit with just a little bit of technique building. So of course I had to go and change it all…

The Best Laid Plains
Join us on our cable knitting adventure!
I spent all of my last blog post writing about my plans for crafting in 2020 and those plans have already changed. I blame Chris Evans.
See, a few weeks ago, a couple of my friends were talking about The Sweater. You know the one.
Tumblr media
I get it. It’s a good sweater. Who doesn’t love cabled goodness in a sweater?
The friends in question were discussing whether they could or should knit…

Making a List...
Do you set any crafting goals for your year? Do you meet them? If so, please share all of your secrets, because I need some motivation.
…because I really like to ignore them, apparently.
So I have made a list of things I’d like to accomplish in 2020! They include
Find a new job
Learn to sew jeans/pants
Make 20 things with yarn
So today, I am putting out into the world the list of 20* things I want to make in 2020 (there’s actually 21 things on the list but a few of them are baby projects so I counted them as 2/3 each…

Mojave the Second, and All the Tape I Need
Mojave the Second, and All the Tape I Need
I sewed a second Mojave dress a couple of weekends ago. My first Mojave was one of my very first makes, and one of those things that languished for no good reason. I started sewing the dress at West Side Sewing Studio, then took it to my friend Courtney’s for a sewing hang, after which it only needed hems. I finally hemmed it in March(!) and it got a lot of action.
I knew I wanted to make…

Sewing Updates + A Little Bit of Planning
Sewing Updates + A Little Bit of Planning
Tumblr media
You may remember my Sewing Summer School plan from last year. It was great in theory! In practice, I forgot to take into account how much summer sucks when you don’t have air-conditioning. So my summer was spent parked in front of my window unit in my bedroom and not so much anywhere near a sewing machine.
However, I did take some sewing classes at the West Side Sewing Studioduring the autumn and…

Catching Up
Yeah it's been a while.
Pro-tip: don’t combine your hobby with your employment. It just sucks the life out of you.
So yeah, it’s been a minute since my last post. I did do some sewing over the summer but not as much as I’d have liked to. It was just too freaking hot to do much of anything all summer long.
One thing I did do though!
I finished stitching this piece for a baby gift! Yes, the baby was born in February.…

Sewing Summer School
I am, in fact, still alive! I also still am really over talking about knitting, so we’re not doing that here right now.
Today I’m mostly cataloging my side project—becoming a better sewist. I have sewn, I know the basics of sewing, I just also get super frustrated actually doing the sewing, so it’s a struggle. But I’m trying to work past that, because ultimately I want to be able to sew my own…

Friday Finds
Friday Finds is up!
Happy Friday! It’s that time of year when I have to burn a lot of vacation time because I was too busy/paranoid about getting sick to use it earlier, so I have a little extra time off this weekend, and I hope to churn through some solid knitting time (aka, don’t expect me to get out of bed unless absolutely necessary on Sunday). What are your weekend plans? Amy Christoffers, Northeast Kingdom…
