I think it’s an issue. I don’t think there’s a lack of female country artists, I think there’s a lack of female country artists getting played on mainstream country radio right now, There are a lot of females making great music out there…I think it’s cyclical and I think it’ll come back.

I loved the farm lifestyle and grew up riding, I really loved the country lifestyle and was a tomboy. But with music, I didn’t know I wanted to do this, I was just told to do it. I wouldn’t question my parents in any way. We were told we had talent and we were going to take music lessons and we were going to perform, and we did. I have no memory prior to that. But thank God.
