Proposal for new fandom etiquette:
If you read a fic because it was linked/recced somewhere, you leave a comment saying "came from XXX" and that comment doesn't need to include anything else.
Because when all of a sudden there's a lot of activity on one particular fic I WANNA KNOW WHY!!!!!

Fandoms stopped being a fun escape from reality when people started spreading the belief that you should prioritize purity over pleasure and the art you create must be a reflection of your moral standards at all times.

the thing that never fails to make me laugh is when ppl try to do morality discourse about ships like kevriko. i don't know man i dont think all the kevriko warriors in the chat are worried about proper communication and abuse of power

There’s this die hard Thea and Riko defender account here on tumblr that is always acting like the moral police …and that happens to have the same name on AO3.
I recently was looking for Jean centric Nest fics and came across a Grayson/Jean non-con facefucking fic. Tagged like that even. When I went to the accounts that had left kudos? there they were.
I guess my confession is that preaching left and right “all ravens are victims” and openly liking voyeuristic nest SA fics makes you a sick fuck
Okay so I originally wasn’t going to post this ask but I actually am and here’s why:
1. This is a very stupid fucking confession
2. Crazy that a fic tagged correctly actually contains the very content it is tagged with!! Did you read the tags and think “awh these are just hypotheticals”
3. It is a little weird that you are checking the kudos of a fic (that I assume doesn’t have much of a large audience due to its content) for people’s usernames
4. CONTENT THAT IS CONSUMED AND/OR CREATED IS GENERALLY NOT INDICATIVE OF WHERE A PERSON ACTUALLY ALIGNS/STANDS; this is me telling you to relax and stop conflating the content someone leaves kudos on as a reflection of their actual character. Fun fact: the phrase “all ravens are victims” can be true at the same time as reading a non-con fanfiction 💀one of these existing does not erase the validity of the other and this is something I think you and many in this fandom need to learn. If you don’t like the content, block and move on. But censorship based on personal hills of moral policing is a slippery slope that should not be normalized, especially in this day and age.
5. Pretty sure this ask goes against my blog rules

Suzanne Collin’s just said fuck you to everyone who’s ever critiqued the Hunger Games as being a “teen girl saves the day” story. She said oh, Mockingjay didn’t make it clear enough? Here’s a book about how people have been rebelling for decades only to have their efforts suppressed and propagandized. Rebellion takes time and it takes failure and Katniss may have been the spark that ignited the wildfire but she did so standing atop the doused flames of everyone who came before her.

Props to Jeremy, the most avoidant narrator ever that even when he gets a text when it's HIS POV, we don't get to know what it is

honestly. like gotham is a cursed, crime ridden shithole, but the city itself is probably actually pretty goddamn fiscally sound and able to keep their taxes low on account of the massive amount of taxes they get from wayne enterprises.

characters who refuse to heal. characters who change but only for the worse. characters who are trapped by their grief and rage. characters who unravel throughout the narrative. i am putting them in my pocket for later

Why do people stop commenting on fics if they’re more than a week or two old? Please comment on old fics. Tell me you like my one shot from 2014. Tell me you like my old multi-chap I finished in 2016 that I spent a year writing. I will be fucking thrilled.

I do think people forget Thea was a Raven. We've seen how Raven players reacted to being put into world after the team's fall. We know they were isolated from the outside world and whatever was happening in the Nest was their normal. What gives people impression Thea would have any more insight or framework to work with? Why she's expected to be more stable and knowledgable if her background is the same (if not worse since she was the only girl ranked so high in the Nest and it was implied how rampant misogyny was there) that this of all the other Raven players we see, who clearly struggle with understanding what should count as normal in a sports team?
here’s the thing about thea calling it jeans “old tricks.” we’re given more than ample clues to fill in the blanks. jean refused to let anyone else in the nest know he was raped. he and kevin painstakingly covered up after riko because they were too proud to let anyone in on the abuse they faced. thea has no reason to suspect assault— ive said it before, but there’s no crime unless jean speaks up.
i see the claim that jeremy knew it was statutory rape so thea should have, but jeremy is in california, from california, born & raised. the age of consent is 18, as opposed to 16 in west virginia. jeremy is operating under a different legal framework. but look at the scene as a whole: it’s not important that jeremy believes it was statutory rape, because that accusation leads to jeans revelation that he never consented. it may not have been statutory under west virginia law, but it was rape. thea and jean have never had that conversation, and if jean has it his way they never will.
thea looks at jean and she has no reason to see a victim, but every reason to see a teenager she cares about making bad decisions that hurt him. jean himself tells her they were just mistakes. that’s how her “old tricks” sentence comes across. she’s tired. it sets her apart from the rest of the ravens— that’s far more compassion than any of the current line up gave him.

Better keep a dictionary on your bedside table when you sleep in one room with me <3
Your boyfriend starts mumbling in Latin in his sleep and it scares the hell out of you but upon translation he’s introducing himself, inquiring on the price of grain, attempting to sell dormice, brainstorming silly Saturnalia gift ideas. In his sleep he somehow becomes a 1st century BC plebeian, of modest means but with a pleasant outlook on mundane life.

Love love love characters that present themselves as emotionally open social butterflies but the more you see of them the more obvious it is that they’re the most closed off fuckers in the story. Sure, they want to help you with your personal problems and messy emotions, but if you turn that shit back on them, they’ll shut down or deflect every time. Why are you sticking your nose in their business anyway? It’s not like it matters. They’re not a person, they’re just a role being played. They’re the guy who fixes things and saves people. Please ignore the man behind the mask, he’s fine. Everything’s fine.
