shocking , i know. it's been 'retired' for a number of months ( like a full calendar year ) but !! we're considering this the official last stop for this particular train.

as it's Spider-Man Day ( like the last five minutes of it as i write this ) , i've also made the choice to start anew. we needed a refresh and this is how we do it. i'm super excited to jump back in with a fresh pair of eyes and see where this new ride takes us all.

where does he even start ??? the swirl of emotion in his chest is hard to decipher. first and foremost , relief. second , to see his best friend's face on the front of an article rather than in person feels strange. so it begins : jameson's strategic take down of Oscorp and its subsidiaries began ages ago. this past week only made things that much worse.

' OSBORN HEIR FOUND ALIVE '

the title read plain to your average reader. it was the subtext that brought his heart to his throat. he was released the night before. more importantly : Harry had been seen awake.

does he call ? no. he's surely got a lot on his hands.

maybe a text would work. something Harry could tackle at his own pace. he settles , opens the app and starts typing . . .

and then he stops. starts again . . . delete , delete , delete . . .

" fuck. " he has to do something. ultimately Pete lands on a safe , likely lame choice.

' hey, bud. if there's anything i can do, call me. i'll be around. '

his thumb still hovers over the 'send' arrow for a full four minutes too long . . . before eventually it's sent off with a fated, anxious press of the screen.

it all came in a flash. One moment he had been standing in the kitchen. cleaning up after dinner had become a strangely therapeutic 'activity'. what, for most people, is a pretty menial task. For a retiree Spider-Man, the time it takes is a new-found luxury. He was still learning to capitalize on that when the ground fell out from under him. The next beat, he was rounding the corner to the basement stairs.

Had he cleared the counter ? Not like he can remember. He hardly registers the tops of his shoes as he bounds down, several steps at once. Once he remembers he's a superhero , even that was too slow. In one leap , he sticks to the turn to the final flight. The lack of his footsteps opened the space for her voice to fill. It isn't until he lays eyes on her , how she's shielding her eyes that shakes him from the auto-pilot.

She's okay ? Then why did she -- . . . " oh . . . oh . . . "

Everything he shelved for the sake of GETTING THERE washes over in the first breath since taking off. The pounding of blood rushing through his ears, the throb of his heart that rattles his rib cage from its intensity. He has to empty his lungs from the excess air he retained, which makes his head spin. His feet find the floor one step at a time, like the normal man he's been striving to become.

God, he hates the sound of her terror still echoing in his head. From which time? It's impossible to really tell. "C'mhere, I got ya..."

A shaking hand reaches, finds her own and finds strength. She's okay, and it evens that frenzied breath. She's off the floor with the effort of lifting a paper towel. In his arms, where he can be sure she's unharmed. Still damp thumbs loop behind those the heels of her hands, aiming to pry them off to see her eyes.

" . . . hey, love . . . ", Stuffing the teasing to the back of his mind. The jokes could come later.

"Aaaand DONE. Phew." MJ beamed as she set the last plastic storage tub into place, dusting off her palms as she took in the enormity of what they'd accomplished in the last two weeks. The boxes littering the front room UNPACKED, May's old clothes and some of her less sentimental personal items donated to F.E.A.S.T, the front window finally repaired ... and all of MJ's cramped one bedroom Greenwich apartment EMPTIED just in time for her lease to expire. Maybe things WERE really gonna go back to normal. They could start to move on, it was finally ov-

WAIT. What was that? A shadow that moved too QUICKLY on the opposite side of the basement. A TENDRIL reaching from the shadows, a hissing sound. NO. No no no no. MJ SCREAMED, instinctively falling back against the cold brick wall and sliding down it to the cement floor... only to realize from her new vantage point that it wasn't a symbiote out to finish what it has STARTED at all.

It was a fucking PIPE, creaking from age as her boyfriend called hot water to a sink upstairs.

The sound of her name being shouted in alarm followed by Pete's footsteps POUNDING through the living room towards the top of the steps had MJ already grimacing with embarrassment and regret. "Sorry, SORRY, I'm okay. Just thought I saw-" she began before he'd even made it halfway down, shaking her head and rubbing the heels of her palms over her eyes to clear the last of the NIGHTMARE from her vision. "... I'm okay" she repeated again from her spot on the floor, more to convince HERSELF than Pete. "Just a shadow, I'm FINE ... sorry I scared you."

hi !!! it's been a while. i've bounced around the idea of coming back 'full force' for several weeks now. honestly, between the absolute brain rot of waiting for 2 to come out and just. grappling that i haven't found the time / 'right way' to do it. pete and his antics have still consumed my every waking thought since i left , and that ultimately leads me back here. THAT SAID: i have some stuff that's been 'holding me back' from just jumping back in. it's all to do with 'clean up'. i've struggled since i came back originally with just having tatters of this blog sitting around unfinished. long story short i just feel the need to start over. that doesn't mean much , really. mainly just updating some graphics , getting a better feel for formatting in this modern era ( help , i'm a dinosaur ) so!! LIMIT'S TO-DO LIST: - new stuff ( promos , carrd , verse list , etc. ) - choose a new url ??? - icon the new game ( i'm going through it again rn ) - new tags ( since my old ones don't seem to fit ??? am i missing something? ) - profit. okay so now that i’ve watched the trailer like. 20 times. some tiny details worth note that i cannot stop thinking about because my brain won’t let me:

- yeah yeah , i know , remaster pete ugly blah blah but actually LOOK AT HIM , they added a lot to make him look more like a real person ( laugh lines, dark circles, etc. ) and i think that’s gonna go a long way. - HARRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY - it’s so cool to see all three of them ( pete , mj , harry ) still being friends years later ( plus actually seeing them interact on screen is so priceless, i used to pray for days like these ) - coney island looks so fucking cool - i wonder if ‘new job’ means that peter’s actually going into teaching OR if he and Harry are starting some new business. - kraven stuff looks cool, but we knew it would. - love everyone’s new designs, i hope they take advantage of all the new tech and have like. mj put her hair up and down in different scenes just for some variety. ( insomniac are so fucking proud of their hair physics and shit so i’d like to see it ) - PETER IN SUIT PETER IN SUIT PETER IN SUIT PETER IN SUIT - THE SYMBIOTE ACTUALLY COMING FROM SPACE ??????? -  the emotion in face capture looks so good ( miles telling peter he’s a call away , LOOK AT HIS EYESSSS ) -  WHY HAVE I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT LI AND MILES’ CONFRONTATION BEFORE ??? - WRAITH / YURI LOOKS FUCKING SICK (and i can’t tell who tf that is on the ground next to pete ) - i think Miles gets taken ?? the way the next few clips play out it seems like Miles chases Kraven / his robots and gets either picked up or stows away. pete’s talking to Rio and Rio’s not happy with how obsessed Miles is with just being ‘a better spider-man and helping’ peter. Miles is definitely in Kraven’s ‘abode’. ( i also think this is where peter in suit happens. maybe to sneak in to save Miles ???) - the symbiote is def weak to ‘sound’ which is cool, we love brand consistency. - harry’s lil stripes. - the way the veins and tiny details work on the suit are so cool ( if u freeze frame on peter holding his head you can see them like. wiggling / growing because of the stress. looks like something’s grabbing him and he ‘explodes’ to get it off ) - again, the face capture??? mj looks terrified of whatever she sees and i’m eating that shit up. - more evidence for miles getting taken out of the city. wherever Kraven resides is def in the jungle somewhere. - Harry’s ‘treatment’ is something to chew on for rn. the symbiote is just chilling in the tank still but in the next cut when he throws whatever that is at the window it explodes green. maybe a new test treatment that isn’t working out??? - i genuinely cannot tell who that is supposed to be looking over the city. could be Peter or it could be Harry, the lighting doesn’t hit the hair in a way that determines the color. the quote is what Harry said at the start, sure, but it could also be Peter echoing it at a later point???? i dunno if i’m on team Peter For Venom or not, we’ll just have to see. - HOLY FUCKING SHIT, VENOM LOOKS SO SICK LOL

the more stuff they reveal about this game the more i come to the conclusion that pete’s gonna do something that he can’t undo and that both excites me and terrifies me.

because it’s so nice to have a writing staff that understands the real drama of the symbiote and that it isn’t just that he gets mean lol. i’m so ready but i also cannot breathe at the idea that he’s gonna get lost in his own sauce and need to be brought back from / beyond the brink. what that means for him i have no earthly idea. they could take it in so many directions and they’re all so fascinating. maybe not all but you get what i mean UGH.
