On this note, I'm a HUGE fan of taxes thank you very much. I actually am quite happy to contribute to the community that I live in to make sure that schools have resources to support their children, our health services are well resourced and that our elderly, disabled and vulnerable members are protected and cared for.
Since Austerity in 2011, I find myself so saddened by neglected parks, pot holes in the road, the overwhelming explosion of food banks. Did you know that when I started my sociology degree in 2008, my lecturers were talking about how child poverty was going DOWN and that so was crime? Workers who were around for New Labour policies talk about services that I can only dream of, and how funding meant that we could try new and exciting things and bring enrichment to poorer communities and support them with early help services that were treated as universal - parenting classes, play groups, social clubs, youth services.
Did you know that more people (and wider society) benefit from a service that is advertised as universal as opposed to requiring a referral, because it reduces stigma and shame from those who need it. If you can dip into parenting classes of your own volition at the local sure start with your mates and their kids - isn't that so much better than being told by a social worker to take part with people that you don't know? If your local council is offering clubs and hobby groups at the library, isn't that going to do more to cure loneliness and encourage access to diverse thinking, than waiting for people to kill themselves or be radicalised online? Only we dont' have funding for these preventative services because now our public sector barely has the funds to cover statutory services, nevermind anything that prevents it so its a vicious cycle where we aren't helping our communities until it becomes a crisis and that is really hurting people
I'm not naive, I know it wasn't all good and sunshine and roses, but when I see "tax cuts" being touted on the news, my heart sinks because I know that it means that something else in my community is going to be lost to us, and the longer this is going on, the more money its going to cost us to repair the massive amounts of damage that the last decade has caused us.
So let me pay more damn tax, tax the rich and make them pay. Invest in our society so it stops rotting away and alienating the people who need us most.

I don't give a shit as long as those in need benefit

In mine and many other east Asian cultures, the dragon traditionally symbolises things like power, wealth and strength (imperial symbol and all)
I think we often forget that in the story of the Great Race, the dragon came in fifth because it'd stopped to give people rain. Then it'd stopped again to push a rabbit adrift on a log across the wide river so it reached the shore safely (that's why the Rabbit year comes before the Dragon).
Dragons aren't meant to just be powerful - they are meant to do good with such power, and to help those in need.
So in this lunar new year, I hope you gain more power, so that you might be able to help others. I pray you have abundant resources so you may give to yourself and those around you. I wish you courage, endurance, kindness and generosity, for yourself and your people.
I hope you, and I, will be rain givers, life preservers, joy bringers.
I hope we will be dragons.

I'm like 99% sure this joke has already been made but Tumblr's search function isn't helping me find an example so here's my contribution

once you realize its all saying the same thing. water spins generators in dams, car engines spin to make wheels spin, the earth spins in a circle and then spins around the sun which spins around the galaxy once you grasp that its all about spinning you realize why beyblade is so important

honestly if teleporters ever got invented during my lifetime i would be the most annoying analog boomer about it. my grandkids would be like ugh, grandma, why don’t you just take a teleporter trip to come visit us, we all do it all the time and it’s obviously safe and i would be like absolutely not. it kills you and reconstitutes a copy with your exact memories. you are consciously my grandchildren and i do not hold it against you but i know in my heart that you are nothing but copies of copies of copies borne out of irresponsible technology use. i am not touching that devil’s elevator as long as i live. i will take an airplane and you will wait for the several hours it takes for me to come visit you

Reposted in a new version, (kind of), because I realized the part about memory enhancements deserved its own drawn scene.
