It’s just so sweet to hear the creator talking about how the love between Ed and Stede (and the chemistry between Taika and Rhys) fuelled his writing, and how pivotal scenes, like the lighthouse, grew from this one magical moment, which was then echoed so beautifully in s2 ❤️

During the Saturday panel, David praised Taika’s acting, and his portrayal of Ed’s character arc across episode 10, specifically.

I think people need to remember the process of creating, developing and writing a character is so far removed from what ends up on screen that of course a creators opinion is gonna be different from a fans.

Very funny to log on after a con to see everyone melting down about stuff no one at the con gave a second thought to.

man you guys have got to learn when a con panel or whatever is just kind of. saying stuff that is not especially serious character analysis. i mean some is! but there's a lot of stuff the fandom thinks of as big serious debates that the creators clearly are not thinking is an issue at all. in the relatively rare case they are aware of a fan debate they usually won't understand or approach it in the same way the fans do, and in the even rarer case that they do understand it that way, they almost certainly are not going to weigh in and take a side. any time you read a con panel report and you start to either gloat or get mad because you think the creator was explicitly agreeing or disagreeing with some meta you love or hate you should pause and think to yourself "is it possible that's not quite what they're talking about here" because usually that will be the case!

as i grow older and age in fandom especially, i have waning patience for 2012 style fandom wars. i don't have time for the type of person who goes "why is this the 2nd top ship on ao3 when it bugs me", i don't have the energy to be friends with people who go "i specifically expressed dislike for this ship and people still write it?" and i have absolutely no time for someone who goes "this very personal trauma i have projected onto this random character and ship should be recognized and agreed by everyone else, otherwise they're bad people"
