Taking a break from Helluva boss, hazbin & any Viv related things. I can feel personally it'll work on my already down mental health and I aint got time for that lmklaa. My mental health just isn't as it should be (just a depressive episode it'll pass after meditation & time). I also underestimated my studies so will focus more on that & my work upped my hours so that too & of course my mental health. Sorry to all the asks, I'll probably get to it one day or not, apologies.

I know I said I’d stop watching Helluva, but since this is a five minute short and not an episode, I decided to watch it, especially since it revolves around Millie and Sallie. However I don’t have much to say, this short is honestly a nothing burger, it revolves around Sallie coming to the pride ring to visit Millie for an evening out, but the only scene that matters is the last minute because the majority is just a montage of Sallie and Millie going around town and enjoying themselves.

The major thing is the fact that Millie is excited to see Sally and has a fun time with her. What happened to that “sibling rivalry” huh Viv? You know, the one that you argued gave Millie depth? And by the way, this short does nothing for Sallie and Millie as characters. Millie is the same bubbly and nice yet bloodthirsty character she always is. Meanwhile Sallie was hyped up for so long and yet she’s kinda just….there. She doesn’t really have any interesting or defining characteristics, she really is a brownie point cardboard cutout with little personality, like I’m sorry but it’s funny how we finally get content revolving around two females and it’s very empty, though I don’t know what I expected.

Sallie has this out of nowhere forced emotional moment where she shares she’s upset that Millie left her home town. I guess this could have been interesting had it been built up before, but this is writer Vivziepop we’re talking about, nothing is built up and everything comes out of nowhere. Part of it doesn’t help because this is the first time we’re getting to know Sallie as a character and yet you’ve already retconned her relationship with Millie. In the end it doesn’t matter, Millie says that she’ll try to visit her family more and that Sally can visit too whenever she wants, then it ends with them watching a show. This did nothing for Millie’s character, her relationship with her family, or Sallie’s character, (if you can call her one) and I find it funny that the relationship between Mille and her sister isn’t even in an episode, they don’t affect the main story or plot at all that a five minute short was enough, it’s just telling lol. Anyways short wasn’t god awful or bad just a nothing burger, something Viv’s writing has been for some time now.

The Millie Problem

The first Helluva Boss short came out and...it was mid. It's cute and harmless, sure, but it's also nothing special or anything that great. The short once again tries and fails to give Millie any real depth and it made me realize the biggest flaw with Millie as a character...

....the writers don't know how to give her depth. I've talked this before but now it seems like a fairly common thing for Millie as a character that it's time to make a post about this. The writers clearly want to give Millie depth but like I said the problem is that they don't seem to know HOW, and here I'm going to explain why the writers' attempts at giving Millie depth simply don't work.

In Season 1 Millie kinda just...existed. She was there. She had little personality or character depth beyond being Moxxie's wife, she was completely one-dimensional as a character.

Season 2 would come and try to give her depth with Unhappy Campers, and this is where the problem begins to arise. Instead of actually focusing on Millie as a character, Unhappy Campers wasted it's runtime on focusing on Moxxie being jealous and decided to just. Randomly give Millie validation issues completely out of nowhere.

I've spoken before about this doesn't work, so I'll just explain it quick; it comes out of nowhere. Millie has never shown to want validation from others, there was no foreshadowing or build-up to this, thus it feels forced and rushed. It's just a random character flaw the writers pulled out their ass in a rushed and failed attempt at giving Millie depth.

But it doesn't give her depth because it came out of nowhere. This flaw is also never explored upoun; the show never explores this insecurity or why Millie even has it. Feels tacked on to her.

It is, essentially, a rushed attempt at giving her depth. This is a conflict that comes completely out of nowhere and is heavily underdeveloped. It does little for Millie as a character and fails to give her depth.

The new short is the second instance of this; once again we have a conflict where Sally is upset that Millie moved away and they reconcile in the end. This conflict is at least better than the other two of three times is happened, however, it still has the same problems; it doesn't really do that much for Millie as a character. It comes out of nowhere and is explored very little.

It's not enough to develop Millie as a character, it simply feels like the bare minimum. Once again; it's a conflict that comes out of nowhere, is explored very little, and gives little depth to Millie as a character. It once again, feels tacked on.

Now we're going to go into leak territory here as a future episode called GhostFuckers shows the third instance of the writers attempting to give Millie depth. How are they going to do it this time?

By making Millie suicidal of course! ....wait I'm sorry what???? Like with Unhappy Campers I've spoken before about why this doesn't work but of the three instances, this is easily the worst one. Why is Millie being suicidal here??? WHY have her be suicidal in the first place??? What's the point?????

This adds nothing to Millie as a character and once again feels forced and tacked on. Like the other two instances, it comes completely out of nowhere. Plus it just flat out makes no sense! Why does Millie apparently hate herself for "being a killing machine" when that is LITERALLY THE THING HER HUSBAND LOVES ABOUT HER AND WHEN THAT'S THE THING THAT MAKES HER ONE OF THE BEST MEMBERS OF THE GROUP???? WHY DOES SHE HATE HERSELF??? AND WHY IS SHE SUDDENELY SUICIDAL???? WHY DOES SHE SUDDENLY FEEL LIKE A BURDEN TO HER HUSBAND????? Once again, it's a forced attempt at giving Millie depth and feels tacked on.

It comes out of nowhere & is extremely forced. Granted, the episode hasn't come out yet, however judging by the leaks it seems like the episode will be the third instance of the writers randomly introducing conflicts out of nowhere in order to give Millie depth.

It's clear that the writers want to flesh out Millie as a character, but the problem is that they don't seem to know how. They constantly try introducing random conflicts for Millie to try and give her character depth, but they fail because every time the writers try to give Millie depth, it always comes out of nowhere. They always feel rushed, tacked on, and they just don't add anything to her as a character. It just feels like the bare minimum.

I want to like Millie, I really do, but it seems like the writers just don't know what to do with her anymore.

To me why I believe many people dislike Stolas is because 1, he's a terrible & negligentful father. Compared to Blitz Stolas is an absolute trash of a father dispite how badly the show tries to pull he cares for his daughter. I'll just bring up 3 instances, so1 ep 2 he made highly sexual comments in front of his daughter over phone, Blitz on the phone & Via were so appalled. Secondly same ep the ep revolves around Stolas taking Via to a theme park he THINKS she likes as a form of bonding, only to bring the man he's essentially having an affair with in Via's eyes along & being extremely sexual with Blitz dispite Blitz's protest & Via's discomfort. At the end of the episode she couldn't take it anymore, breaks down running away from her father & he goes to comfort her & because the show is written to show him in a good light Via forgives him in a heartbeat dispite all previously shown. And lastly so2 ep 2 has an ep on Via running off to the human world & dispite Stolas being supposedly concerned on her, going to find her in the human world he spends the entire ep on stupid hijinks on a TV with Blitz, fawning over him. The person to find her was Loona & the ep again ends putting him in a good light, having her reunited with him like HE found her from looking around tirelessly & again Via is written to forgive him just like that.

But the main reason why people dislike or me why I hate Stolas is because Stolas is a rapist.

First & foremost is the power imbalance Stolas & Blitz has. A rich prince with marital issues, a closeted gay man actually makes a deal or "contract" with one of the lowest beings in Hells hierarchy, an Imp. Secondly the way the deal that was presented was during a time where Blitz's life was in danger, he couldn't say otherwise or actually deliberate finer details of this deal, this to me says it all. Stolas's deal is "I will give you this book which will allow you to enter the human world & to do your job (this job being Blitz's business aka his only source of solid income that allows him to earn a  wage himself, being able to provide for his daughter Loona & pay his employees) you have it the whole month but on the full moon of said month you return the book to me & you will sleep with me". That deal in all standing not romantic, its disgusting.

The deal is based on coercion. Putting the book over Blitz's head, the book that will allow him to have a business, earn a living not only for himself but his family & employees, other people dependent on him this deal puts Blitz under economic duress & is coupled with coercive rape. Blitz couldn't say no, how could he the deal was presented to him in a situation of duress. Blitz literally responds back to Stolas hastily with "fine whatever", he just agrees. He knows what is at stake (his business, his daughter & his employees). He isn't in this deal for Stolas but for his business & others. This is seen on numerous occasions throughout So1 where Blitz is quite verbally dismissive of Stolas, his advances & the name Stolas calls Blitz, "Blitzy".

This is however all retconned away in season 2 cos to face the reality their whole relationship is a rich man putting a poor person that is trying to make it out of his hierarchy rank & make a better life for himself & others under a deal, that places that poor person under economic duress if the deal presented is refused & because the deal is of a sexual nature, note not at all in favour or to the liking of the poor person but solely to the benefit of the rich person, it IS cohesive rape.

I believe that Lilith art was by Faustisse who actually did a lot of pilot prop art mainly for pictures in the background of scenes.

Yeah I saw now. From a reddit post. That art from what I saw from the patreon leaks and transcript just had that image, no credit to Faustisse and fans in the comment transcript of the patreon comments were under the assumption its Viv's work.

I love how r2 and viv’s response is to just blame people for watching episode 4, no ownership and just dodging responsibility, there was no warning till people were getting mad and upset enough that prime put a warning. Had people not leaked the animated segment of poison and warning people about it than people would have no idea that there was SA.

Again instead of just saying on her platform there was SA in the episode and viewer discretion is advised, viv ran to threads like a coward to shame people for leaking episode 4. and got into a three day triad with SA survivors

Which leads me to believe prime and a24 had no idea there was SA in the show, or that prime is trying advertise HH as an animated musical instead of an adult animated show.

if you have rpe kinks all power to you, but your not being queer progressive for putting into a show and dividing people on what’s ok and what isn’t. The fact tha people are divided and avoid episode 4 or walking on thin ice when it comes to episode 4 shows that it was handled badly. Moral Orel, Tuca and Bertie, silent hill 2 and banana fish, and revolutionary girl utena never had this problem because SA was never shown it was heavily implied and we saw the aftermath and trauma it did to the characters assaulted because the act itself didn’t matter, it was the aftermath and recovery.
