Was he attempting to make a joke? A funny riddle or play on words? If so, wouldn’t he have finished the joke? In that case, perhaps it was an actual question to learn each other’s opinions on certain matters.

If the animal offered to be eaten out of weakness, fear or having no will to fight, then Yuu found it no more than boring. “Out of pure spite, I’d never give up my body in such a so-called heroic way. I could never respect such a decision. No matter if there is grace in sacrifice for the sake of rescuing others, I didn’t survive thus far only to give it up without having accomplished what I set out to do.”
