Y’all I just learned that unusually high sugar and carb cravings are a symptom of dopamine deficiency
If you’re adhd and experience a deep and all-encompassing urge to eat cake at least five times a day boy do I have news for you
#my story about the semester before i was diagnosed slamming down chocolate covered espresso beans by the handful and still falling asleep#i also had pretty bad depression but oh boy#i still sometimes self medicate with coke (caffeine sugar and also the specific type of carbonation really helps) if my meds arent doing it

happy pride month. when i was in elementary school i was in orchestra and had to practice the viola every night but i never remembered to. had an anxiety disorder so it felt like it was genuinely the end of the world everytime i came into class without practicing the viola. huge point of contention in my house. one night i was sobbing about it like full on meltdown about this viola and my mom came into my room super worried. she said “i wont leave until you tell me what’s wrong” and i knew she would be livid if i told her i hadn’t practiced so instead i said “im gay”.

My mom kept complaining that all of a sudden the Beatles are back and they're fucking everywhere and they're so obnoxious and were practically having an orgy in her garden under a cucumber leaf and that's when I realized she meant spotted cucumber beetles and not Paul McCartney

One of the major dividing lines of our age is between those who think it's worthwhile to cooperate and work with other people, accepting their flaws and limitations, to build something larger than ourselves, and those who think everything is fundamentally hopeless and that other people are corrupt, degenerate, and suspect. And the latter is not conducive to having any kind of culture at all.

googling bone marrow
#okay but tbf. i think the idea of organ transplants especially are sooo like. just kinda. seen as much simpler than they actually are?#like this is kinda coming from my og view of them before and after getting a degree in immunology but i think a lot of crisis/hospital-#related media has so many medical things just seen as a miracle one and done and forget about it fix that we dont realize the real-life#implications. i think there may be? a couple exceptions? and that’s a very huge if. but if you get an organ transplant. you are on#immunosuppressants permanently. you cannot just stop or start to wean yourself off because you think you’ll be fine. because as soon as you#do. you will start rejecting that transplant. because those are foreign cells to your body and your immune system WILL recognize that and#start attacking. not to mention you’re one of the immunocompromised population now. the people who may refrain from taking vaccines? the#ones who were the most concerned during covid? youre part of that population now.#don’t get me wrong. organ transplants are genuinely revolutionary and life-saving advances in medicine. transplant lists are exhaustively#and sometimes almost even hopelessly long for a reason.#reading op’s post again and like. yeah tbf i guess the body is complicated but being so real most of what makes it a nightmare is the#immunology aspect. fr it’s like. you know people who are avid nerds about wars and battles and the systems and strategies and whatnot?#yeah the immune system is all of that but somehow worse.#random bone marrow transplant fun fact but there has been at least one complete cure of HIV reported before. and it’s actually because of a#bone marrow transplant. (because long story short those are the cells that HIV hides in and why when they kill them all you develop AIDS)
