🌺 - [galaxian-warrior]
Ah… Interacting with humans or semi-humans was always awkward. For pretty much all of them, but Kirby especially. He was kind of used to being the tallest, now, and didn’t really like being looked down at.
Still, he smiles as the comparatively large flower joins the one Claycia gave him in the upper portion of his cape, giving a bow to the stranger in thanks.

a very gentle 🌺
Kirby looks a little surprised, but he smiles as the flower is placed into the upper part of his cape. “Ah, thank you, miss,” he says. He definitely recognized her, thinking about it, but he’d forgotten anything he’d known about her. Still, it’s a wonderful gesture.

Truth serum!: kirby, are you ashamed of Amund for hiding from his problems?
“Ashamed?” he begins. “I’m not ashamed. I didn’t make him this way.”
He turns his head away, exhaling in sudden frustration. He collects himself a moment later, holding a hand against his head. “I really do try to be nice to him. But he’s so selfish. I can’t even try to help him out. He always rejects it when I do. It’s like he got so fed up with being a good person he decided to actively be the worst person he possibly could. While still trying to garner sympathy!”
Unlike the other questions, Kirby had thought about this a lot, so it was much easier to lay his thoughts out like this. Though the whole thing truly made him so angry.
“I don’t like who he’s become. At all. And he obviously doesn’t like me, either. I don’t know why, as far as I know he has no reason to. Half the reason I try to convince Brynjarr to stop talking to him is that I think he’s a bad example. Him! The person I looked up to for hundreds of years! He shaped who I am. Now I’m trying to get people to avoid him because he’s become so horrible!”
He wipes away frustrated and upset tears, looking back up again. "If there was any one thing that makes me wish all of this was just a really bad dream the most, it’s him.”

It's the tiny puffling he gave the candy to from before! She can't say "hug", but her nubs reach out to Kirby and she gives him a smile!
Kirby smiles down at the tiny orb. “You’d like a hug, I assume?” he says, scooping her up into his hand and holding her up to his face to hug him that way. She was far too small for him to feel comfortable attempting anything else, really. What if he crushed her?

"Hug?" ((Arage to Bryn, Paul to Amund!))
Brynjarr’s a little slow to react to Arage’s question, still obviously quite out of it. As soon as he processes what is said, though, he hops up toward Arage’s arms. However, he somehow completely misses as he tries, and has to actually fly back up to him to end up there. Once all that’s taken care of, he happily embraces his friend, chirring a little in the process.
Amund seems… more than surprised by the request, eyes flickering back and forth as he debates asking if he’d heard wrong. But no, what Paul’d said had come out loud and clear, and he was honestly more afraid to ask than to just do it. Hugging wasn’t really anything special to him, platonic and even introductory affection was common back in Dreamland, even if he’d tended to politely refuse it before.
Though his inner conflict would’ve been obvious on his face, he shrugs casually and just kind of… awkwardly hugs Paul’s leg. He’s too small to do much else, really, and he wasn’t exactly the type to take a leap of faith into someone’s arms.

“Hug?” ((For Kirby as a thank you, but she's up for giving the other two hugs because they are friends))
Kirby starts at the sudden request, whirling around from his position giving one of the Waddle Dees a budgie. “Oh, Luna!” he says, letting out some air in what appears to be relief. “When did you get here…?”
He doesn’t seem to expect an answer, smiling and holding his arms out. “I’d be happy to!” He wraps them around her best he can, but it’s kind of awkward, as they’re both orbular and seem to be almost exactly the same size.
He’s just about to break away when someone else pipes up. “Hey! I know you!” It’s Brynjarr, and the fact he doesn’t mention Luna’s name is a telltale sign that he’s mostly forgotten who she is. Still, he rushes up to them, stumbling a little as he does so. “What’re ya huggin’ for? Can I join in?” he asks, speech slurring a noticeable amount.
He doesn’t really wait for an answer either, joining in on the hug and adding his wings to the mix as well. They hang a bit too loosely over the two, and Kirby actually pushes the one laid over him off him.
After another moment like that, Kirby breaks away and forces Brynjarr to do so as well, giving him a glare. “What are you doing up? Go back to your room and rest, or you won’t heal.”
“It’s not that big of a deal,” Brynjarr says, waving a hand dismissively, but he does wander off back in the direction he came from.
Kirby sighs.

Kirby's expression tightens, and he steps back, sighing. Truthfully, he was well aware that Brynjarr would calm down soon, as long as he doesn't get too far into it. The only real question was if he would struggle against Arage's contact, as he knew Brynjarr usually was weird about that. He always seemed to both desperately want and desperately not want contact at the same time when he was upset.
He stood back, watching and lacing his hands together somewhat. Though he didn't want to think of it that way, this was almost like a test for Arage. If Brynjarr was uncomfortable with him, he could easily escape Arage's embrace and come to him instead.
It seemed, though, that Arage had somehow succeeded. Brynjarr turns around again as he's fully embraced, opening his eyes through his tears to look at Arage. He stares at him for a long moment, seemingly frozen except for his tears. He listens to his desperate panic, but once he stops speaking, he reaches out suddenly, pulling Arage even closer to him.
He mutters something under his breath, unintelligible to Arage despite being right next to him, as it was in another language. It sounds gritty, almost intimidating, but that seems to be the way the language itself sounds, not the tone he's using. Though the fact he's saying it so lowly surely doesn't help. Whatever he says, though, it seems to help a little, as he smiles for a moment before his face falls again.
Kirby seems a good level of surprised, not that either of them could see it. It actually kind of scared him, the way Brynjarr clung to Arage. Perhaps he was pessimistic, but he didn't really expect friendships with Brynjarr to truly last. There were a lot of elements that combined to make such a thing almost impossible. Especially with someone as - normally - passive as Arage.
...Seeing him cling like that, it was obvious that when things did fall apart, he wouldn't be able to take it.
universe-kirby‌:
Brynjarr falls uncharacteristically silent as Arage yells, only to suddenly burst into tears when he finally stops. He shifts, rubbing his face against the wing Arage has around him, though he otherwise doesn’t move or speak.
Kirby watches this, and, frowning, he looks down at Arage. His eyes burn with judgement, though he says nothing. There’s plenty he could say, of course. He could call Arage out for just how selfish what he was saying was - Brynjarr certainly didn’t need this kind of pressure right now, especially not disguised as selflessness. He could try to persuade him to tell him why he was acting so strangely. He could vanish and go tell one of Arage’s parents that theres an issue.
But he says none of those things, stepping forward, closer to the two. He extends a hand out to Brynjarr, but he’s still looking at Arage. “I don’t think anyone is going to get the answers they want, right now. My priority is keeping everyone safe, and right now, this means taking Brynjarr home.” He flicks his head in Brynjarr’s direction. “Upsetting him is dangerous. I don’t think this line of questioning will improve his mood any further, either.”
He turns his head to Brynjarr, frowning when he sees that he hasn’t taken his hand yet. “Come on, Bryn.”
Brynjarr doesn’t respond, continuing to cry into Arage’s wing.
He doesn’t even notice the silence from Bryn, doesn’t see what’s wrong until it’s much too late. Arage’s eyes go wide and he begins to tremble. Bryn’s crying? Why was- it was him. He’d done this. He’d hurt Bryn. He was awful. SO awful. He’d ruined their friendship. Of course it wasn’t going to last! He- He was nobody. How he thought he was deserving of someone so much… stupid! So stupid! So WORTHLESS!! Such a MISTAKE.
If he’d taken his panicked eyes off Bryn he would’ve seen that furious look from Kirby, but he couldn’t bare to let his eyes leave his f- Bryn. This would probably be the last time he saw him, after what he’d done why wouldn’t it be? He had to make the most of it, even if he was crying… he gently put the other wing around him as well, hoping it might still serve to comfort him, if he was to be so lucky.
Tears prick at Arage’s eyes but he restrains them, how selfish that would be. To cry, when he was the source of such pain. “i.. i didn’t…” He could hardly bring himself to speak. He didn’t deserve to speak. But… maybe he should try? “Bryn I- I didn’t mean- I- I’m sorry.. I.. I’m so sorry! I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry! How- What do- What can.. Wh..” His voiced faded, only barely a whisper. “What do you want me to do?” As if there was anything he could do to make up for this. As if he was worthy of so much as the attempt…
It was futile, he knew that, deep down. How naiive of him, to think he had any chances here… this was it. He’d lost his only friend. He’d lost him forever. He’d lost Brynjarr.

((Rewriting bios is “fun” and I’m already kind of sick of it. (It’s also 9:30 AM and I haven’t slept at all yet.) I’ll be fixing them over time, I guess. Whipped up a quick character page which will be all that’s available for now.))
((Gonna be updating bios today… Lots of outdated info on there, and I never even finished half of them. It’ll also give me a chance to remember what my tags are! Hooray.))
((Anyone who’s recently followed should probably wait ‘til I’m done with that, hah.))

Brynjarr falls uncharacteristically silent as Arage yells, only to suddenly burst into tears when he finally stops. He shifts, rubbing his face against the wing Arage has around him, though he otherwise doesn't move or speak.
Kirby watches this, and, frowning, he looks down at Arage. His eyes burn with judgement, though he says nothing. There's plenty he could say, of course. He could call Arage out for just how selfish what he was saying was - Brynjarr certainly didn't need this kind of pressure right now, especially not disguised as selflessness. He could try to persuade him to tell him why he was acting so strangely. He could vanish and go tell one of Arage's parents that there's an issue.
But he says none of those things, stepping forward, closer to the two. He extends a hand out to Brynjarr, but he's still looking at Arage. "I don't think anyone is going to get the answers they want, right now. My priority is keeping everyone safe, and right now, this means taking Brynjarr home." He flicks his head in Brynjarr's direction. "Upsetting him is dangerous. I don't think this line of questioning will improve his mood any further, either."
He turns his head to Brynjarr, frowning when he sees that he hasn't taken his hand yet. "Come on, Bryn."
Brynjarr doesn't respond, continuing to cry into Arage's wing.
universe-kirby‌:
Brynjarr’s spooked a little by the sudden grab and embrace, almost thinking he was caught for a moment. When he realizes, he actually blushes a little, out of both the sudden contact and embarrassment as he thinks of what would’ve happened if he’d chosen to struggle immediately instead. That would’ve been a mess.
He nuzzles against Arage again, trying to help calm him down as well. “It’s fine, we’re fine. Kirby’s just bein’ stuck up about it!”
The darkened area of the air around Kirby’s face coalesces around him as he steps out of it and entirely into Arage’s universe. By the time he’s through, all traces of him being in the air like that are gone, brought into his cape. He frowns at the two, looking down at them.
He’s taller than them. By three inches, which is a lot when you’re only 11 inches tall.
“I know you’re smarter than that, Brynjarr. You can tell things aren’t fine.”
Brynjarr looks up at him from his position in the embrace, giving an awkward, guilty smile. His eyes flicker from looking at Kirby to looking at Arage, then back again. “Well, uh, yeah, but–”
“But you don’t want to admit it.”
“No! I mean– I don’t– I…” He can’t seem to think of a reply, holding tighter to Arage. Though something about it feels different, now. Unsure.
Arage would’ve blushed as well, had he noticed Bryn was. He was too far gone to see it. The idea of anyone stealing his friend from sent him into a blind panic, unable to properly process everything going on. The nuzle certainly starts to help but he doesnt show any sign of properly calming down any time soon.
“But- But he’s trying to hurt you! That’s not fine! He- I- He won’t get away with it, Bryn! I- I’ll keep you safe and- and he won’t take you! Nobody can take you from me!!” He was practically screaming towards the end, his panic coming back full force.
His grip on Bryn tightens, wrapping his wings around his friend to hide him as best he can from Kirby, but they begin to droop as they continue their conversation. “Wh- What do you mean? I’m fine!! Why would you say I’m not!? I’m- I’m perfect! I’m perfect for YOU!! Is- Isn’t that good enough? How do I make myself good enough? Just- Just tell me and I’ll do it!”
If anything all Arage was doing was confirming he wasn’t okay, he was falling into delirium and even if it wasn’t enough before, Bryn couldn’t deny it now. Arage wasn’t alright.

Truth serum!: Brynjarr, do you really think you’ll be able to defy your nature and the others and be a good person?
Brynjarr looks up from some sort of… sewing? that he’s doing, seeming a little out of it. He’s certainly making something, and it seems to be made of his feathers. Seems a little yikes.
He starts to tear up, but his reply comes easy enough. “Not really! But I’m gonna keep trying anyway, because everybody’s been saying that trying is what counts. If I don’t succeed this time around, then another one of us will be able to find my progress and take it to heart! I hope so, anyway. But– It’s not really my nature, is it? Just the others. Orbs like me aren’t born angry and heartless! It’s the memories that are the problem, not any kind of natural instincts or anything. I mean Kirby is an obvious example! He’s super heroic and nice! If it was nature, all of us would be mean.” A laugh. “A mean Amund would be pretty weird, wouldn’t it?”
He seems a little surprised by his answer, frowning and thinking on it. That was all true, wasn’t it…? But he’d never really thought of some of it himself. His tears recede as he smiles to himself, happy to have learned a little more about him. Then he goes back to sewing.

Truth Serum!: Amund, why did you want to be forgotten?
Amund immediately covers himself in a few blankets the minute one of these bouncing balls with sunglasses even approaches him, but that doesn’t seen to deter this one at all. He tenses underneath the blankets as his mouth opens to reply.
“I had nothing left to exist for. Everyone hated me anyway.
“When Kirby began making more of a name for himself and expanding his ground, the job I’d assigned to myself went to him. He protected Dreamland, then, Pop Star, then. I didn’t have to anymore.
“It was a relief, at first. I went out to do my own thing, explore the universe like I’d wanted to, with experience and identity under my belt already. I went out to become even stronger, challenging anyone willing, until people went to me for fights.
“I don’t know when things changed, but soon enough, I managed to stain my reputation so bad that I was getting ambushed, and attacked not for the challenge, but for the kill. There’s a reason Ribdee isn’t a fan, not necessarily because he is hateful - though, he is - but because I had such a horrid reputation by the end of it.
“What was left for me to do but return home and cast myself away?”
He shifts underneath the blankets.
“But to use ‘I’ here is a little misleading. I was never Meta Knight. I have always been like this, cowardly and unable. Meta Knight was an identity I forced myself into, the kind of person I wished I was. But I never did line up with him exactly. The only reason I was able to be him at all was that I pushed my true self to the side and essentially pretended to be someone else. It was fake. It was all fake.”
He grips the blankets from his space inside them. He didn’t want to say that. Why’d he say that? Like anyone cares. He hadn’t really realized he’d been doing that until he said it just now, but it was right. That’s exactly it.
But nobody else needed to know that!
