So, what if when Lotor says that he wants to talk to the paladins, he reveals what's happened to the real Shiro and holds up a pretty big ransom for him? And if there is a ransom, then it might be about resources for the crystals and stuff he needed for his teladuv. Also, he could possibly force the paladins into stealing back his ship from the Galra empire through threats. Also, Lotor could possibly hint more towards Clone Shiro (Kuro) and how he's important/why he was made.

Okay so in that episode where we look into the past, after Zarkon tells his citizens that their home has been destroyed, you can see in that little pan of people that there are Alteans there. Now, we all know that Alteans are magical, considering how they mainly used alchemy and we’ve seen both Allura and Haggar use some form of magic. (Also, in the episode where it’s first time the paladins go to the Balmera, Coran speaks of the rituals Alteans would do to give back the energy they took from the Balmera.)
So, maybe those Alteans that we see in that pan view, were later on made into the Druids through quintessence.
