so uh, remeber when I said I'd be doing stuff tonight? That was a lie. As it turns out one of my summer courses is only three weeks long, meaning I have a Not Insignificant amount of homework that I'll have to be doing every evening considering I have another (albeit longer) class and work full time right now. Between that and still trying to use my free time to, you know, finish Octopath, I'll probably be scarce for the next three weeks at least. I'm super sorry!

    The Headmaster’s office has certainly changed since their days in the academy, if not in substance, then in atmosphere. Books still lined every inch of shelf space, but the old copies had been replaced with well-loved, worn tomes. No more stiff wooden chairs for visitors but comfortable old armchairs--not the most luxurious, not anymore, but the signs of age spoke to how well they had served him. In actuality, Cyrus had done little more than implant his old office into the Headmaster’s (right down to the heaping pile of books sitting atop the desk.)

    “You flatter me, my old friend. Tea?”

    Indeed, the academic life had far more politics than he had anticipated as a boy--even more so now that he’d taken up the role of headmaster. Naturally, his office had to serve a double purpose to reflect that--it wasn’t simply a place of study, but of entertaining guests. Fortunately, Cyrus has always been the sort of man to observe niceties--and it certainly made navigating the political minefield of the academy far easier.

    Perhaps that was why he’d found himself in such a prestigious position, despite how... polarizing he tended to be among his peers. Or perhaps it was simply because they were all well aware that few things went on within the academy walls without Cyrus catching on. (It was as if they didn’t realize that anyone could catch wind of their ‘secrets’ if they simply followed the clues.)

    “I suppose we each have our own strengths. I recall idolizing you as your junior for your research, back in the day,” he chuckles. “Likewise, I've heard that investigative instinct of yours has only grown sharper; I assume you’ve surmised that I had reason for asking you here? As much as I would enjoy hearing firsthand what you’ve been up to in recent years, I am afraid I have an agenda; a favor to ask of you, as a fellow alumni of these hallowed halls.”

I just started octopath lol I am on therion’s part as my first character XD

honestly therion is so fucking funny to recruit as like the last character, which is what i wound up doing. everyone else has these Noble Intentions and Deep Personal Goals and then there’s therion, who’s just like... “y’all wanna help me do a Crime?” and your party just. rolls with it.
