I love how Dragon Age basically forces you to have deep personal conversations in public where everyone you know can see & hear you, and therefore all affinity conversations have the general feel of baring your soul in a mall food court.

Varric/Hawke as a ship is so fucking tender. Like. Man who has stood by his best friend for years - through thick and thin, death and destruction, demons, darkspawn, qunari - writes a whole novel about the object of their affection. Love poured into every word, every page, making half of Thedas fall in love with Hawke just like he did. And then AND THEN to keep Hawke secret and safe, to protect hawke against some of the greatest powers in Thedas, to lie in a terrifying interrogation room; all of it for Hawke. Dudhdudvivkfasudjd

DAI Companions: Fighting Styles

Don’t know what you’d call these. Headcannons? My interpretation of what actually happens in the game? I don’t know but here, this was on my mind so you can have it now too.

Cassandra - Protective and disruptive, her shield planted in front of the mage, bursts of dispelling energy washing across the battlefield, a prayer whispered on her lips, another foe falling for the Maker to pick up, wasted life, wasted potential, another who’s wasted their breath.

The Iron Bull - Brute and blunt force, bashing through barriers and barreling through formations with the force of a dragon, wide arching sweeps, great roars of rage, blood and scarring, pain fueling strength, the enemies blood runs cold, easy pickings.

Blackwall - Body guarding and battering, backing enemies into corners, one slash, another falls, his allies feeling themselves grow stronger, a body blocking a bolt from a mages staff, a wide smile, he takes another blow for the rogue, it is worth it, healing the wound in their place, acceptance, aggravated, another must fall.

Cole - Silent and deadly, a ghost flickering and fleeting, fading and weaving in, around and through, graceful and fluid like flowing water, fierce and precise, blades a blur, it’ll never see him coming, a quick and clean kill, they will never hurt anyone again.

Sera - Chaotic and instinctual, flasks of fire and frost and lightning coating her body and her bow, arrows pulled loose and lazy, hitting whatever she sees first, bees and poisons and grenades, whatever she can find to get the job done faster, a bubbly cackle, a spin of her heel, you’re next. 

Varric - Tactical and planned, hurricanes of arrows raining down on choke points, traps cracking, razor sharp, watch the Kid weave around a leg-hold spring, call to Chuckles, mental notes, over-exaggerated details, heroics and villainous laughs, Bianca singing her song of death, one two three.

Solas - Cold and calculated, whispers of the Fade, manipulative, controlled, push and pull, slow and stop, freeing forces of the Beyond, rippling in bursts, rifts ripping to shreds, once more, but careful, delicate, never too much, always controlled, always cold, always calculated.

Dorian - Flashy and beautiful, dancing flames, colourful shocks of lightning, glistening shards of ice, dazzling, exuberant, distracting the enemy, an easy target, a dance, a performance, instilling fear, striking and stalking, dark energies wrapped up in an enigma, a skilled twirl of his staff, he begins another dance.

Vivienne - Callous and distant, a closed heart, empty eyes, a game of life and death, punishing, playing for survival, fought with skill, merciless, flash frozen fear, a storm of ice and snow, severe, unforgiving, no room for weakness, never a mistake, perfection, eyes falling lifeless, it’s nothing personal.
