STANDARDIZED LIFE- Goals with an innate drive
Today’s world has seemingly developed a pathway through which success is measured based on what the world around them has said it is. When I was in my 11th grade, having read a number of quotes on success, something as regards to how I perceived success changed.  My whole view of what I perceived success to really be shifted when I decided to compete not with any other person but myself. To see myself as my greatest competitor was the most challenging thing because I would think to myself; but how? what this means is that each and every day, aim to be your own person- (this is no cliché)! Of course the world will always give ‘recipes’ to a successful life, but it always has to start with oneself. Setting your own standards will make the road to success easy to go with because inasmuch as there will be bumps along the way, you will be working towards something you have individually set for yourself. When standards are set, everything you do will be based on those very things. Self- actualization is the fulfillment of the things man embarks on to get to a point at which they feel they have attained everything they worked at. Therefore, when standards are rightly set, time cannot be wasted on things that do not push you towards self- actualization. There   are so many people who start off so well, they seemingly possess all it takes to succeed, but, along the way things fall apart. For many years, I wondered why, but I realized that sometimes, most times, regardless of how much one may have, standards and dreams are driving forces to true success.  When all else fails and nothing seems to encourage you to keep going, your dreams and standards you have set for yourself will be the only things left to push you forward.
When standards are set and life is driven in that direction, all decisions you make will be those that aid your being an achiever. The moment you choose to set your standards in life, you quit succumbing to the routines of loafers who just live by the day. This is why when standards are set, even the people with whom you spend the majority of your time suit those standards.
Serge Efap in the book ‘Hold yourself to a higher standard’ stated; “its alright to take a break every once in a while, but you truly don’t want success bad enough until you are willing to sacrifice sleep for it. Hold yourself to a higher standard and make productivity a habit”. Writing your goals down year in and out is far from being enough. Get up, show up, and alter those goals into achievements.

BE INTRINSICALLY MOTIVATED
The notion of intrinsic motivation entails a kind that comes right from the inside, that very deep quest to get what you have set out to achieve. People who are intrinsically motivated will always find their way to the top. This is so easy because, when the drive is from deep within oneself, you will know what to do and when to do it.
When dreams are realized, it does not matter the size of those dreams. What matters is what you do to turn those dreams into realities. As a dream chaser, it is imperative to develop self -motivation because above all else, we only pay attention to things that matter most to us. Therefore, an intrinsically motivated person can be identified from afar. The decisions and choices you make say much about your priorities in life. Being self -motivated means you do not require any one to push you around into doing something you know you have to do. Depending on the standards you have set for yourself, you will have to do things that bring you closer to getting your goals. Always have a ‘why’ as regards to every decision you make. It is extremely dangerous to not have a reason for doing the things you do because it implies less desire to actually achieve anything at all. It is self-motivation that offers you the fortitude to remain in it for the longest time managing to overcome hitches and not giving up.
When you are intrinsically motivated, you will entertain positivity in your life. Taking courageous steps and having the drive to take risks says a lot about one’s motivational levels. Additionally, you must be so motivated that you keep your eyes on the ultimate prize. Remember, if you must climb to the top, you have got to step out on a limb
Always stay motivated by the size of your dreams. Always aim for the greater and better things; it is these very things that will keep you motivated. Your motivation and interests must be directed in the same line with your life goals. This is why it is fundamental to hold fast to your dreams. Never lose the will to fight, never for a second lose the will to stay in the race. Once a dream dies, there is no longer motivation to live, worse off to fight. So hold fast to that big dream and stay motivated, it will pay-off!

THE TWO SIDES TO ‘THE FEAR OF FAILURE’
The phrase ‘fear of failure’ has been used by many to mitigate their “I just don’t want to do it” attitude towards doing anything that challenges their zone of comfort. For a long time, I personally only concentrated on the negative side of ‘fearing failure’. On occasions innumerable, I have heard people say ‘no, I will not try that, what if I fail?’ One disheartening truth about this statement is that one that fears failure will NOT TRY AT ALL. Those so afraid to fail will evoke everything within their being to be comfortable with the decisions they make, the journeys they embark on and better still the risks they take. Fear of failure becomes a DREAM KILLER the moment it is negatively embraced. It will undoubtedly drain you of the courage to get something done. You will be too comfortable with the way things are, well even if you weren’t, you just wouldn’t want to risk that sense of being ‘comfortable’. Fear in itself leaves many people less confident, less enthusiastic and  just in a huge way alters the way one handles their life…..suddenly, you become ‘outrageously too careful’. Well, these might not be the most appropriate words to use, but you just become unreasonably too careful to even take chances. Remember ‘fortune favors the brave’, so the more you build your confidence and take unusual actions, the more opportunities you will expose yourself to.
I got to realize that ‘the fear of failure’ in a huge way worked positively for me. All through my academic journey, I was always afraid to fail. However, instead of having this fear of failure dwindle my morale and disrupting my line of thought and action, it actually built in me a fighter, someone that always wanted to take the chance and utilize every opportunity to excel. Now don’t get me wrong, I was, and I still am very much afraid of failure, so much so that I am forced to put my all just so I can make it. This way, my fear of failure is positively making me more determined, a hard worker and very enthusiastic to get my GOALS AND DREAMS ACTUALIZED. Because you are afraid to fail, you will study more than you have ever done.. you will sacrifice sleep for books, yes! The fear of failure will keep you awake while others sleep, you will abandon things that have little or no impact on your future, your entire being will be so focused on having things done, you will just not rest until you are personally satisfied with your success. Fearing to fail will change the way you conduct your life, the way you think will be completely altered. No matter how hard things appear to be, no matter how many believe in you, hang in there…
One of my favorite quotes by William Shakespeare goes “our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good that we often may win by fearing to attempt.” So the next time you are faced with a situation that compels you to defy your comfort zone, don’t fold your arms, duck or dodge because some opportunities will ricochet and they don’t return with a smiling face when they do. So go ahead and attempt, fear to fail notwithstanding. Try being so AFRAID TO FAIL that you work at BEATING FAILURE, watch how your life turns out!
