If it were Dante tossing such a dart at his back, the retort would have likely been the blunt side of Yamato catching him between the eyes.

Nero, on the other hand, was someone Vergil had very different feelings towards. This was his child, and one that he unintentionally abandoned. Between that, the mix of guilt, and the silent want to reconnect with the younger Sparda has always left him softer towards the other.

“And might you be quite finished snapping childish comments?” he retorted with a sigh, but also with a harsh but playful knock towards Nero's forehead. “Then again ... I used to be quite the sore loser in my younger days. I suppose I should expect that from my own son.”

Somewhere in the world a younger red look alike would sneeze.

Indeed they were on an outing, and of course they had just finished quite the battle. It's in their blood after all.

Except this time the 'battle' in question was a fighting game. The screen flashed with Vergil's victory, but it was easily drowned out and insignificant compared to the commotion of the other surrounding contraptions within the modern arcade.

It was an attempt to connect with Nero for sure, but the location was chosen entirely based on the assumption of the younger enjoying such entertainment. It was a gamble, sure, but it was one Vergil was willing to take. Besides, he quite enjoyed it and was surprisingly adept at it. Who knew?

The initial reply was a tongue click of annoyance.

“I don't believe we have the privilege to consider simplicity.” A voice that might have pulled strings from Vergil's ghastly past. One that was far too similar to his own, but also one he possibly recognized from a recent acquaintance.

This Vergil look-alike turned to gesture a nod towards the not-so-polite company of demons circling the two. It's one thing that one managed to take such a chunk out of Vergil, although not without paying a heavy price. Dead as roadkill caught in the wheel.

At first, Ouroboros was hesitant to lend aid. This wasn't the Red Vergil clone's first run in with the other, but he still held conflicting emotions. He still had the need to see the 'original' dead at his feet. However, his pride made critical the need to eventually kill him by his own hands and not by some garbage pawns.

There was also the gnawing curiosity and guilt that now festered, thanks to how cautiously but decently Vergil treated him during past encounters. Those feelings, however, were in full denial and repressed. Ouro wasn't about to admit to any of that to anyone let alone himself.

How in the world did the two get into such a predicament? Ouro didn't care at the time. The look on Vergil's wound made his nose wrinkle. He knew it needed treatment quickly.

“You had best steel yourself if you don't want to lose face while I exit you.”

His hand made a reach for the back of Vergil's collar. He had every intention of gripping it to literally fling him towards the top of a nearby building.

“It would be embarrassing to your dignity if you went cartwheeling through the air, would it not?”

If he did manage to grab him, Vergil would find himself airborne within the next second.

With all things considered... This one was quite rude. At least he seemed to mean well.

“I’m not going to leave you behind. If need be, I’ll carry you.”

Oh is he hurting? Quiet a bit actually and that's an achievement. Not only because of this annoying ragged wound currently cleaving half his thigh open like a macabre ham it's currently sizzling for some strange reason. Black at that.... Not concerning at all.

Glancing Though this... Whoever this person is supposed to be, hard to tell since there's too much crimson staining Vergil's vision. A casualty of a random disemboweled demon that got too close.

I introduce Ouroboros to friends and the first thing they do is nick name him Oreo.

I can't express how fitting that is to him. 😂 Poor guy is hard rough and crumbling on the out side but soft and sweet on the inside.
