It's like how conservatives regularly insist that businesses have every right to discriminate when deciding who works for them but shit themselves when a business won't hire unvaccinated people.

Yes I occasionally listen to TSwift. And I gotta say, as a performer, this one really resonated with me. I heard this song for the first time and I thought “oh so this was me in 2022 cool”

"I hate how American media will just make up a European nation rather than do any research, so I'm going to get back at them by writing a story set in a fake American state" like, do you have the slightest idea how much American media is set in a geographically impossible fictional small town located in no particular state and characterised entirely by some guy from Los Angeles' collection of half-remembered stereotypes about the American Midwest? They've already got the "lazily inventing fictional parts of America" bit locked down.
No, if you want to play the Uno reverse card on American media, what you need to do isn't to make up a fake state: you specifically need to wilfully misrepresent southern California.

I’m going to make a few of my distressed prints available on my shop. These are 100% unique, but I like how they look.

I understand that, but I don’t understand the strong words towards people who choose other ways to make an individual impact instead. What about living car-free, reducing energy consumption, or even choosing not to have children? Why is meat consumption the baseline?
If you claim to care about climate change but don't do what you can to minimize your meat consumption, you're not even doing the bare minimum to address it.

Friendly reminder to direct all climate-related anger toward the corporations and systems fueling climate change, not individual people :)

So, there's a lot of USians around who are very clearly fucking fed up with their political choices this election cycle, and planning to sit it out.
And I get it! What's the point of voting if there's no one to vote for?
The thing is, I'm Australian. In Australia, voting is compulsory. We don't get to sit out our elections, and I'll be real honest with you - we don't exactly get better choices than you lot. So how do you vote if there's no one to vote for? You find someone to vote against. And there's always someone to vote against.
Now, we have the pleasure of preferential voting in Australia - We get to rank every candidate from 1 to X, and I'll tell you, there's something so cathartic about putting the biggest bastard of the lot at the very bottom of your preferences. I understand that USians don't get that option - you get to mark one person, and that's it.
That means that you get one shot, so aim it at the biggest bastard of the lot. The candidate you most utterly detest. Put your vote in the worst possible place for them. Don't even think about who that vote's going towards, that's not the point. Remember, every vote is a vote against someone. Make sure you fuck up that someone's election day!

Necessary addition
sherlock holmes deduces you are trans before you've figured it out yourself and refers to you with those pronouns and then when you look confused is like "ah...had you not arrived at that conclusion yet?" and wafts away in his dressing gown to smoke seventeen pipes, leaving you in a gender crisis

The whole genetics project of the Bene Gesserit may have been dubbed a failure because Paul wasn't a girl but there was nothing stopping Paul and Feyd-Ruatha acting on that sexual tension they had in both book and film.
Paul could have taken Feyd as a third Consort. Just imagine Paul with his Empress Irulan and his wife Chani sitting at his side and Feyd just sprawled on the dais steps just wearing something scandalous like

Calling someone with a Dune hyperfixation, please
Disclaimer: I am a casual fan of the first two Dune movies. I have not read the books. I have a question.
I know that Lady Jessica was supposed to have a daughter with Leto Atreides I so that the daughter could have a son with Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. I know that she chose to give Leto a son, who ended up being Paul, and nobody (specifically Reverend Mother Mohaim) was happy about this.
My question is why did it have to be Jessica’s firstborn child?
I think I’m missing some context, because the way I see it, if Mohaim had just taken a chill pill and let Jessica have her fun and make her boyfriend happy, waited a few years, and then reminded her to have a daughter as well, some of this chaos could have been avoided. Sure, the plan would be delayed a few years, but Mohaim herself said that the Bene Gesserit plan in centuries. What difference would a few years make?
Is there some kind of dilution of ability that happens between the firstborn and the second-born child? Was the timing of Paul or the would-be-mother of the Kwisatz Haderach that sensitive and delicate? Was Mohaim just a control freak? I’m confused.
