one of the inherently conservative things about radfem/terfism that i haven’t seen in so many words is this fixation on the individual serving the needs of the society above all else, instead of the society changing to serve the needs of the individual. for example, conservatives are fixated on the idea of gay people giving up their very human desires and happiness in order to preserve “society” or stop the idea of “degeneracy,” or how people should focus on how they can “contribute” to society instead of crafting a society to make people happy.

radfems do this but for feminism, the individual woman is demanded to give up the things that make her happy (relationships with men! kinky sex!) in order to further some amorphous idea of “female liberation” instead of understanding that feminism is a movement that should be making women’s lives better and be giving them more freedom - like advocating for womens’ rights to do what they want and be treated with dignity.

Azide is a super super sensitive explosive ion. Having one of them means it'll explode if you breathe on it wrong. Fully knowing this, someone decided, "hey, what if we crammed four of them really, really close together." To which the next person said "hey, thats fun and all, but what if we cram SIX of them together around a barely larger atom", and presumably somehow still has most of their fingers.

Its one of those things thats not too impressive if youre not a chemist, and absolutely mind-blowing (heh) if you are.

I think this stuff will blow your hand off diluted ten thousand times. And its not just that it exists thats impressive; sure, in theory all kinds of crazy shit exists. Its that someone ACTUALLY sat down to make it.

What kind of incredibly brave (or incredibly stupid) person decided azides needed more azide than Blue Öyster Cult needed cowbell? How did they get the money? What research board said "you know, we're going to fund you making something so explosive that the guy coughing in the next room over would send glass flying everywhere"?
