Is the Bridgerton series suppose to be a satire?

as somebody who has read the bridgerton books last year and admits they REALLY have flaws i am really disappointed in how we were robbed of book kathony

from the bottom of my heart, the bee sting scene between kate and anthony in bridgerton is hands down the most incongruously stupid scene i have ever laid eyes on. never have i seen a scene trying to accomplish so many deeply unmixable, unecessary things at once in the clumsiest way possible. i had second hand embarressment on behalf of the entire production and every person who approved it. i could not stop laughing at the acting, the editing, the cgi, the shakey cinematorgaphy - netflick really pays 100s of 1000s of real dollars for that. are they not EMBARRESSED???

i don’t watch bridgerton but i looked up the bee sting scene bc i was curious and uhm?? definitely some choices there? what were they thinking??

i've decided its basically cishet camp that isn't camp enough and that's why its simply unsettling. my friend told me that in the book anthony actually goes into full goblin mode and straight-up tries to SUCK THE VENOM OUT 😂 personally, i feel if the scene went full hog and didn't try to make it sexy and angsty and just leaned into how absolutely batshit it is i would have far less issue with it. but instead, they were like "let's somehow have a scene where anthony's trauma with bees is replaced with horniness for kate that doesn't end with him suckin her titty like in the book." boooooooooo! they shoulda just made the scene funny and left in the weird bee venom titty suck! but alas bridgerton is camp-phobic despite being the circus clown of period dramas

Notes From a Disgruntled Reader - Bridgerton 2x02

Full disclosure The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn is one of my all time favourite books and Kate Sheffield my favourite heroine. I do not have high hopes for this season of Bridgerton.

Things I liked:

- Benedict and Edwina

- Eloise possibly taking an interest in women’s rights

Things that were okay:

- Anthony, again.

Things I did not care for:

- Kate, if I possible I like her even less. It’s so terrible they did not need to write her this way. She was never mean in the books. 

- Colin’s treatment of Penelope

- Penelope 

I honestly don’t know if I’ll continue…my heart hurts for what this could have been.

god the way people talk to their pets

like i’m calling myself out here but i just uttered the words “you did the stretch and now the rare and powerful double pets” (two hands at once!!) to my cat without a trace of irony

like i do not believe my cat understands a word of what i am saying but he absolutely knows my voice and i think also my tone? but also all day i’m just randomly looking over at him like “good boy!” or “are you fluffy?” or singing little songs about his current fluff levels. to an animal. a wonderful animal but a creature who absolutely does not speak english and probably only vaguely is like “this creature is communicating with me” when the strange noises come from the person’s mouth

like i just think about this sometimes

i never wanted to baby talk this cat, i dislike the whole “i am a cat mom and this is my baby” thing, he is a cat, i am a person, and yet i just spend all day talking at him. while typing this he rolled over to show off his tummy and i had to restrain myself from saying “you got a tummy?” aloud. and then i did it anyway

(he is indeed in possession of a tummy)
