A Friends GoFundME

I’d like to humbly ask for some aid from any of my followers than are in a position to help out a friend of mine. I know finances are tight across the world right now, so please don’t feel obliged to donate if it would put you in a troubling situation. Having said that… A good friend of mine, Ezrah, (aka @melon-san​​) has reached out for help by starting a GoFundMe. Reaching out for help, especially from strangers, is never easy to do and is understandably anxiety inducing, so I’m taking it upon myself to help out by sharing their page. They are trying to fund a deposit and first months rent to move out of their current living situation as it’s currently detrimental in more ways than one (More details can be found on their GoFundMe page, linked below). i’m not a huge rian / deet shipper (though I think it’s cute) but I love the visual prompt you gave, so I hope this is okay

The embers were glowing – fading – in the darkness, the wood had all but burned to crumbling ash, the fire had long but burned itself through. The sounds of Thra, insects and crawlies, chirping and trilling, an endless chorus of life, the noise and natural stillness of the world at nighttime enveloped the gelflings, a brief moment in touch with the song and the serene. Rian felt the damp grass at his neck, nestled into the soil, and tickling at his hands also, fingers that twitched next to another’s.

He stared up at the sky, all mottled blue and black and gold, a tidal wave of cosmic dust beyond all what was fathomable. And Deet was beside him, breathing softly at his shoulder – both of them lost beneath a canopy of stars, in their millions, and more. The three brothers shone brightly in the clear blackness, bold and brilliant, the light cloaked their skin in ambient light.Deet was glowing, most of all.

‘Will this work?’ Rian wondered aloud. He sure would miss moments like this one. He hoped to cling to this memory forever.

‘I don’t know,’ Deet said, her voice quiet, gentle, soft – ‘but we have to try.’

Her fingers interlaced with his own and Rian felt the roughness of dirt in her palm, of grit and mud, a lifetime of crawling through caves, caring for the creatures, the plants, the moss, Deet had nurtured all life she laid her dark eyes on – and so, Rian would fight for it, for life, too. Deet clung to his wrist and squeezed it tight, as though she knew what he was thinking, as they stared up at the night.

‘We will try, together.’

Deet shifted then, propped up on her elbow, she turned to face him, as Rian rubbed his eyes furiously with his free sleeve. He blinked and swallowed hard, as Deet’s attention was drawn from the sky, her green skin, luminous in the light of the moons – her eyes, so big and black, they could engulf him whole. The glittering stars themselves danced within them, shimmering through a film of tears, the sky, its moons, and its many stars, ebbed and swayed inside of Deet. Her lips twitched as she offered a small smile – as a tear freed itself and ran from her lashes and down to her chin, he felt the singular drop of wet on his cheek, Rian didn’t know much, but he knew it was starlight.

Even if we fail, I hope whatever waits for us, that it is just like this.

I think the reason the mystics seem on surface level, to not do much is because unlike the skeksis, they're really not trying to meddle with Thra at all, or affect anyone's fate. they know that they don't belong and like careful gods are trying to tread incredibly gently in a world that isn't theirs, so for the most part, they hide themselves away to try and lessen the damage that has been caused by them ever coming into creation.

I think it's why the archer will only interfere with the Hunter because it has gotten to a point where he absolutely must - - and Aughra gives him the go ahead to do so - - but the concern is there still for them, that every action and choice made by either mystic or skeksis, can harm the fate of Thra and all that lived there before them, and should live there after them too

I joke that Ursu told Jen nothing but like, they actually really educated Jen, taught him music, whatever they could teach him, from mystic to gelfling. but their minds are so much broader than his, their power and wisdom unfathomable to the gelfling, they found it difficult to teach him their ways, they just tried their best to bring him up, teach him what they could and keep him safe

the UrRu are super vulnerable, so slow and peaceful, they hope to lie in wait for their moment where they can finally become whole again, they don't have the stolen power or violence of the skeksis nature to outwardly oppose their counterparts head on,

it's why the wanderer and the heretic had to invent other ways to find their gelfling hopefuls. they themselves cannot make their wholeness reality, they too have waited out in the desert for gelflings to fix the world the skeksis have exploited - -
