"what's it like to use nightshade/glaze?"

so based on my own experience I thought I'd make this more transparent since I know a lot of people hesitate to take action on some things if they do not know Exactly what happens. it's me i'm people. So;

Nightshade takes about 30 minutes on its fastest setting. The end result tends to look like mild jpeg artifacting, very slightly creased paper, or just brush texturing. Looking at it normally, it is undetectable. Glaze is very visually similar, given the strategy, except that Glaze's longest time setting is 5 minutes.

You put in a file, select how much you want it affected and for how long you want it to render. For Nightshade, you also attach a tag to it, that way AI finds what it's looking for with an associated word. You select a folder for the final result to save to, then hit run.

It takes a lot of GPU/CPU. The fans on my laptop sound a bit like I'm running Minecraft, and it refuses to run if you have too many programs open. I could run Youtube and Nightshade at the same time, but Youtube did Not like it. Best to just take a break while you let it do its thing. Run Nightshade before you go out or something.

It does NOT like transparent png backgrounds. Makes me wonder how AI does with 'em. Anyways, running a backgroundless drawing through Glaze and Nightshade respectively makes it turn out like this:

creasing effect is more noticeable, and it adds strange blocky black and white backgrounds to it. If you want good results for your time, be that less than 1 minute or 180 minutes, consider getting rid of the transparency.

I would post a before and after picture of a Nightshaded piece but of course, I would like to post exclusively poison on this site.

As one last note, it took me a lot of effort to find where you're actually supposed to download these tools, so Glaze is here and Nightshade is here. Overall I highly recommend using them if you can. Don't let AI run you off of your sites: run the AI out yourself.

I made a Pillowfort account!

This blog is new here, but I'm not. I've been on Tumblr through many a fiasco. I'm one of those geezers who's still camping out in an abandoned village slowly sinking into the ground.

However, I'm not certain of the future of a site whose CEO goes out of his way to bully trans women and then sells out his disenfranchised, LGBTQ+, artist userbase to techbro ghouls. Current Tumblr management needs to drastically alter course, or this place may not survive for much longer.

I've seen the banning of female-presenting nipples - this will be worse.

For now, I will try cross-posting everything here to Pillowfort as well. Change is hard, but I like that site's interface so far!

In the meantime, what I do not advise doing is using Uni of Chicago's ML-poisoning tools... mmhm, do not make sideblogs full of poisoned images and definitely do not forget to opt-out of machine learning on those blogs! We do not want our robot overlords to get the plague, do we.

Gaster is a cat confirmed (kinda)

Ok, so I'll go ahead and come out as a massive Gaster stannie. (My beloved. He barely exists in-universe, but he is so real to me. Pets him on his bald head)

Anyway, there's a small passage in the Valentine's newsletter that caught my eye:

Putting aside interchangeable faces - this is a reference to Alice in Wonderland. Specifically to how Alice plays with verbiage. The notion that words, indeed, mean anything is constantly toyed with (and discarded) in the book.

We're now given this image of Gaster as someone for whom reality is so warped, that words (and perhaps the objects they signify as well) lose concrete shape. It ties in neatly with his use of a font where every letter is a symbol upon itself. The guy sure has a strained relationship with language. (Relatable.)

Of course, this isn't the only Alice reference we have:

So the "friend" is an obvious nod to the Cheshire Cat. This character is known for vanishing, leaving behind only its grin, and being cryptic. Vanishing and cryptic? Sounds familiar.

We have known for a while that the "cat" element exists in DR:

The other elemental pairs - Thunder/Light, Dark/Star - have a throughline of meaning that ties them together. They are things that co-occur with one another. Where there's thunder, there must have been light(ning). Stars can only be seen in the dark. So what's the deal with Puppet/Cat?...

Let's assume "cat" stands for Cheshire Cat-like qualities. Ephemeral, inscrutable, with a tinge of eerie omniscience. Why is it paired with "puppet"? A puppet is something that is, well, puppeteered. It is something immutably material, with no agency of its own. Quite the opposite of "ephemeral and omniscient"!.. Except when you realize that in DR, transcending what you know of reality will inevitably lead to the conclusion that you are...

One is intrinsically tied to another!

The characters in DR who seem to have the most forbidden knowledge have a relation to puppets and/or cats:

(Assuming that Jevil has some jack-in-the-box in him.)

These folks also have ties to Gaster and his juicy knowledge. It is not too far-fetched to assume Gaster himself has Puppet/Cat vibes. In fact, I think that he is the Cheshire Cat of Deltarune. Perhaps he doesn't mind his condition as much as we think!

TL;DR when Gaster is revealed as a catboy, the fandom will implode. Consider this your warning.

I recently started working on a Big Noelle Thing that I've been wanting to make ever since Chapter 2 came out! + some words on the future of this blog!

I'm the type to sweat over every little detail, so the Big Noelle Thing is going to take... a while... haha. I'm hoping that posting my process here might help me stay motivated.

Unfortunately, due to uni workload and some sad family circumstances, I won't be able to draw my silly fanart for a while. That said, I am blown away by the response on the couple drawings I have posted so far! I hope you stick around until I have more to show you.

I am an art student, & work freelance in an unrelated field. On top of that, I have my regular IRL affairs to take care of. I don't want this blog to be something I stress over, I have more than enough deadlines in my life - so updates here will never ever be consistent. I want this blog to bring joy, both to me and to you.

I felt the need to say something, because there's been a lot of people following me off the little I've posted so far - having all these eyes on me is a bit intimidating, ngl! So I suppose this is my giving you the lay of the land and how things will be over on this lil patch of hellsite from now on.

Fat Bear Week is upon us, and I'm thinking about bears a lot.

No other animal puts up such a mirror to our own species, I think. Here is a creature that has mastered its environment. He is an omnivore, he eats what you eat, but also things that would kill you. He walks like you walk, but only when he wants to. He makes it look easy - here, human, I could do this all day, but at the end of it, on my fours I am unstoppable - and you, silly biped, are dinner.

Bears were our ancestors before apes ever were. But they are not us. And that's what makes them captivating.
