This was all so very... surreal. Enough to throw a wrench in Shadow’s ‘stay guarded’ plan. His posture fully relaxed as he gave the leader a confused look.

“... Why are you interested in that?” Ulg, he had a possible Mephiles return to worry about, he didn’t have time for an alternate of his blood donor to try and be the father he’d never had.

“Comet?” What did this alternate mean by comet? “I destroyed that thing in my world. Not a scrap of it was left.”

So this was an alternate. How... lovely. Ruby red hues narrowed, the hybrid snorting as he begrudgingly let his guard lower slightly. His hands uncrossed to move to his hips.

“You’ll have to specify which father. As far as I’m concerned I have one. Neither my biological donor nor my blood donor are father material.”

Oh lovely, more striped hedgehog’s to claim that he should be very much dead. “Sorry to dissapoint hedgehog but, I am very much alive.”

“And you appear to be very stiff, are you alright boy?”

“Considering the fact the last time I saw you you were manipulating me and trying to destroy all life on the planet, I think my stiffness is an understandable reaction to your presence.”

Ah, wait, Rouge. Rouge was from an alternate dimension. Did this apply to the alien before him? Even if that was the case, it would not serve well to drop his guard.

The words were icy, the hedgehog’s posture stiff and ready to attack if the alien leader made any false moves. Shadow refused to show any fear, going instead with calm fury and disgust.

{{So I’ve had this sort of headcanon for a while now that, despite being male, Shadow gives off female Black Arms pheromones that label him as queen of the hive.

Because the Black Arms are a hive and Black Doom, being their leader, probably gave off ‘queen’ pheromones (he calls the Black Arms his children and he never really says ‘king’, he just says ruler/leader which is pretty gender neutral). And when Shadow defeated Black Doom he pretty much took over as ‘queen’.

Dunno if I actually wanna use it, it’s kinda out there and a bit weird. But I kinda like it and it could make for amusing plot if not all the Black Arms were eliminated like Shadow thinks.}}

I think we won’t even have to ask the Prince for help if he comes back around…” The fact that Sonic was getting involved with everything was just typical of the cocky prince. Though she was very curious as to why, out of all the siblings He was the one who always showed up. “I mean, you know his tricks, and we have Omega to help too. Next time he won’t be so lucky to face off with Team Dark.”

It always amused him to hear Rouge calling Sonic a prince. He knew fully well Rouge’s story. The bat had opened up to him a few months after Shadow had moved in with her. Her origins however didn’t matter to him. The past was in the past for a reason.

That and Rouge had done so much for him that she was a close friend he couldn’t bare the thought of losing.

“Oh, that blue hedgehog will get involved. Nothing stops him from throwing himself into the lion’s den, so to speak. The best we can do is try to be the first on the scene.” The statement was followed by the smallest of competitive chuckles. Shadow was capable of being ‘playful’, he just refused to admit it.

Cue a certain hedgehog remembering that it's going to be Valentine's Day tomorrow.

He glanced at Rouge as his arm was touched. Had it been anyone else, he would have shrugged the hand off. "I know. I apologize for getting so irritated. I cannot forgive him for the events in Soleana." Poor Silver. Was the kid doing well? He certainly hoped so...

And there was the return of the amused smile. "Well if GUN gives us orders, then we have little choice in the matter. He at least knows that our team is stronger than his attempts to break us apart. But you're right. We should prepare for anything. He may have fled to the shadows, but that doesn't mean he won't come back."

At hearing his voice she automatically reached out a hand to place on his arm. “Hey, I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t mean it like that.” She retracted the hand and huffed, crossing her arms under her chestplate. “Well, if you say it feels like him, it might have something to do with him. Or at least someone who thinks like him, and both aren’t really anything I’d like to get involved with.” She frowned. “Well…in any case, we should probably prepare for anything.”

Dad? That almost made him snort in disgust. Whatever had happened on the ARK, it did not matter to him. No, his memories of this supposed dad were of being attacked and almost killed.

"Dad is the last thing I'd call him. He and Black Doom." Oh, it had been sinfully satisfying to killed the latter and hunt down all those black creatures. He'd feel no guilt in doing the same to Mephiles. "Again, I'm not entirely sure. I'm simply stating that it felt like him. I made sure to include it in my report though. It's better to be safe than sorry."

He rolled his eyes. Unfortunately Rouge wasn't too far off in her assumptions. Really, while it was his personal goal to protect them and the planet, he had little hope for their intelligence.

She waved him off, laughing as she took another sip of coffee. “Don’t worry! I’ll be careful. If all else fails I’ll just ask for something with less risk, like desk work.” Oh Shadow..he was cute how concerned he was. Still, she’d been doing this for a while, she could handle it.

She then frowned as he went on, her own face showing worry. “You sure that thing’s connected to your dad? Frankly, I’d be glad to see the last of creatures like that…an unlike you, I don’t trust that they’d learn to keep away. From my experience, even if most people are smart, there’ll always be one who’s greedy enough to be stupid.”
