Like Batman’s world’s okayest dad, not super shitty and blatantly abusive dad who doesn’t care at all. It really sucks how his character seems to oscillate from “dad who’s earnestly trying and learning and sometimes messes up in the journey” to “here’s him being a huge jackass and hitting his kids lmao”. Stick to more consistency so (as one person pointed out before), he doesn’t come off as an abuser with a honeymoon phase.

I wish Bruce didn’t have to learn the same 10 lessons over and over again. I wish they’d stop inserting or doing the whole “and here’s him being a MASSIVE outright abusive douchebag to his family!” scenes that’s often contentious (for a good reason!). I wish they’d stop returning to the same tiring status quo for him.
Brought to you by: me happily watching a lot of the Batman cartoon series only to go into comics and find that sometimes, his main self is characterized as A LOT, LOT worse than usual. Like damn, I like flawed heroes and characters a lot. But you know what I like better? Flawed heroes that don’t make it extremely difficult to root for (why would I want to root for someone who’s blatantly abusive to his family? And that’s not getting into the other issues his worst or more worse portrayals have) and are able to go through character development and RETAIN that.
Anyways this is also just a rec to read Batman: Wayne Family Adventures for being one of the very few canons where the Batfamily actually feels like a family and where Bruce Wayne gets to actually keep all of his character development and relationships.

I was neutral on Batman/Catwoman until King’s run. Then it became an absolute NOTP. If King gets them married in his Batman/Catwoman series, it’d better come with massive retcons because else that particular version is going to probably be among the worst romances in DC.
