also, yes, i suppose my choice of wording was bad, but my point was that red is a stranger. you don't know her. you don't know jocat or claire either, for that matter. it seems like you're getting incredibly parasocial about this situation, and that can be dangerous. internet microcelebrities aren't your friends, or even acquaintances. they're people you've never met. also, from a purely strategic perspective, red doesn't do callout posts or videos, so requesting one was a bad move. to be honest, i'm not exactly sure what your goal is here. even if everyone hates jocat forever, claire's life won't get any better, so what's the point?

So yeah this'll probably be my final word on the subject, but I think it suffices to say that this whole situation just sucked. What initially happened to JoCat sucked, and that resulted in him being a bit too defensive because at the time, he was literally being attacked from all sides. And what happened to your friend as a result really sucked too. What's happening here, really freaking sucks, but I can't imagine what you thought this was going to accomplish

Literally the whole problem started because a fanbase took "justice" into their own hands, even when the creator said not to. And that's just repeating itself here too. If this is because Claire is still actively suffering to this day, then I can at least understand wanting to help

But if this is just you wanting to have something to distract yourself from your thoughts on a lonely and suck-ish night, and thinking you could knock this problem out, I think it's pretty clear that was never going to happen

I think it's time to turn all this off and leave it be. Like I said before, this isn't going to help you, and it's not going to help Claire. ok so you're obviously not at all comparible to the shrimp anon, at all. you sent a mostly respectful ask to red, asking her to clear up what you saw as information, whereas shrimp anon slammed through every barrier of human decency. but, like, you don't know claire, just like shrimp anon doesn't know the randos they're defending, and you're both sending unsolicited messages to random strangers over people you don't know. like, yeah, it is absolutely important to do the right thing, and seek justice where justice is due, but sending asks to strangers is not the best way to do it, and is ineffective at best, and at worst... this happens. if you want to help claire, i'd recommend donating money to her(if she has somewhere to accept money), or if she is okay with it, setting up a fundraiser for her(do try to ask her permission first if possible though). i honestly have no idea who claire is, but generally trying to help the victim is better than trying to attack the perpetrator.

I can't contact her though. Can't risk Elongated suddenly deciding new accounts need to be billed.

"year of silence" means that he uploaded the video and then for a year nothing in particular happened, and then people (entirely unrelated to claire) started harassing him over it. the entire reason he reacted negatively to claire initially was that he had been sent suspicious-looking packages and doxxed at that point, and he assumed it was more of the same. the whole point of his statement was that this had been going on for a while, and claire did not start it. he did apologize, twice, in fact, and went out of his way to clarify that it had nothing to do with claire. this was not difficult to find, i found apologies on both sides by just googling "jocat controversy" and clicking the first entry.

also, it is immensely rich that after experiencing for yourself that when large accounts have any kind of negative interaction, it tends to cause random weirdos to tell people to kill themselves, even when those accounts go out of their way to tell those random weirdos to not do that, you are still standing firm to the notion that red is morally obligated to make a video to her thousands of subscribers proclaiming that actually, jocat kind of deserved what happened to him.
