I'm not used to these games taking more than ~8 hours to beat
Really enjoying the enemy designs in RE4 so far
#Finished chapter 12 and am at around 11-12 hours. Not playing optimally and exploring a lot since this is my first playthrough#It's very fun so far. The Verdugos I also knew but experiencing them for myself in the game was also nice. Their design is really cute#Even 8 hours is somewhat generous I suppose. Depends on which of the games you play#Definitely used to them being shorter than 16 chapters though

Really enjoying the enemy designs in RE4 so far
#I know bits of the game so I'm familiar with parts of the story etc. but it's been a while since I've watched a whole playthrough#If I ever have seen one in its entirety. They've changed some things up for the remake too I'd guess#But regardless. Seeing everything in action and experiencing it for myself gives it a whole new feeling anyway#Especially the plaga guadaña and mandíbula (I think those are their names) were effectively unsettling during their first encounters#Their appearances remind me of one of the worst (= for me most effective) scares I've ever been subjected to in a movie. I like them#Just started chapter 8 but I'm taking a break for now. Hope to continue it tomorrow though#I'm sure that thing Leon encountered in the dungeons won't be a problem again any time soon#Yve's Thoughts.

Finished RE3R and Village as well
For 3 I definitely would like to get my hands on the original in some way because I do want a comparison. I enjoyed it a lot but it felt a bit lacking, and from what I've read online that seemed like a common opinion, from people who had played the 1999 one as well. I did like Nemesis as a tyrant a lot, it was a nice change of pace after playing this and RE2R back-to-back. Over the course of the game, it really grew on me more and more.
Generally, I really liked it.
Village (8) was fine. As a game overall, I probably preferred 7 (biohazard), but 8 did have some concepts that I found more interesting than anything they did in 7. It had very cool moments and characters for one. I also felt like this game was a lot more forgiving than the others gameplay wise (Mind that all these first playthroughs are on Standard). Very stubbornly I went against my initial thought of playing it in 3rd person, since I wanted to go through 8 the way I had played 7 back then, but this may also have impacted my experience negatively.
One (negative) opinion I have is definitely about the Beneviento house, which was the weakest part of the game for me personally. The fact that it turned into a psychological horror game for that portion really took me out of it and seriously soured the experience for me. It is probably more effective for people scared by dolls in general, but it really was only tedious to get through.
The story DLC for this game was pretty interesting; it felt like I was playing Silent Hill in a way. Here I even liked the doll house, if only for one part, which was the one that was definitely most effective for me, being the Weeping-Angel-esque mannequin section.
Not to sound like I am shit-talking this game, I did enjoy myself enough to beat it in less than 24 hours. I had a genuinely good time. Just wanted to share some thoughts I had on these games.
I might go more into detail with these some other time; I definitely plan on replaying the games I've played so far, and especially with Village I would like to try changing it up with the 3rd person gameplay.
RE puzzles are great
#Some opinions on and potential SPOILERS for Village under the cut.#I don't go into detail with any story stuff though. Just gameplay really#Waiting for RE4R to arrive now#Yve's Thoughts.#Starting to realize after posting how not normal the way I've been chewing through these games is

RE2R might be my new favourite survival horror
RE puzzles are great
#For the time being; I reckon I might enjoy 4 even more but we'll see#I finished my first Leon playthrough yesterday and it was incredible amounts of fun. I'll start Claire's route later#Really I haven't played too many survival horror games because I either didn't have access to or just couldn't get into them#The last one I finished myself was RE7 ~7 years ago. The one before that must have been TEW around its release almost 10 years ago#Never got myself to finish TEW2. Maybe this year around October. But I also think this sequel might just not be for me#Otherwise since then I dabbled in some survival horror but I just didn't get into it too much. Aside from the RE HD remaster which was nice#But I seriously am just genuinely looking forward to playing more RE. Haven't really had this with any games in a while#Also thank you as always to my GOAT Toshiyuki Morikawa for the performance as Leon. Legend#<- Quite honestly the reason I started playing RE2#Maybe I'll play RE3R after all actually so it doesn't seem like I am just playing these to hear him#Stay tuned for more potential video game critiques in the future. If anything interesting happens I might post about the playthroughs again#Yve's Thoughts.

RE puzzles are great
#Started the RE2 remake yesterday and was reminded of how out of place they sometimes feel but I suppose they ''make sense''#Considering the environments the games each take place in and such I mean. They're just funny#A secret passage hidden away behind a mechanism that needs 3 medaillons to open which are all embedded into 3 different statues? Yeah#My favourite one so far is probably the one for opening Leon's desk. What kind of Mickey Mouse operation are they running in the RPD#Never played or really looked at the original so idk how faithful the remake is but I like it so far. Nice atmosphere and fun gameplay#After I'm done I might check out a playthrough of the original to see what was up back then. Compare the puzzles etc#These games are so fun. Not sure yet if I'll get to RE3 some time but I would definitely like to play RE4R#It looked fine from what I've seen; never got to play the original for myself unfortunately. But it is apparently a good remake#If it's compelling enough I might finally play the original of that to compare them another time too#Yve's Thoughts.
