5 Fun Facts and 5 Headcanons - Part 8/23: Few Words Needed Edition

Hi all! I really need to start posting here more often now that school is out for the next few months. I've been thinking about turning this blog into a general otome game blog since I've been getting interested in a few different games like Utapri (my biggest current hyperfixation is Obey Me lmao) while slowly losing interest in Utapri oops, would anyone be open to me turning this blog into a more otome-based blog rather than purely focusing on Utapri? I'd still write stuff for Utapri, it just wouldn't be my main focus of the blog.

Anyway, the next part of this series might be posted a little earlier than expected because I happen to share a birthday with the next character.

1. Kira's birthday is May 5, which makes his star sign a Taurus.

2. He often finds it difficult to express his feelings by speaking alone and uses music as a way to better convey what he is thinking.

3. His hobby is pottery.

4. Partly due to how difficult it is for him to express his emotions and partly because he is used to his group leader's bullshit antics, Kira is not easily flustered by Eiichi's praise.

5. Though not necessarily canon, it is widely suspected that he has a soft spot for rabbits because of his accessories that feature the adorable animal.

Next, 5 Headcanons I Have!

1. Kira doesn't usually try to get revenge on others, but when he does he is brutal. He once went an entire week without saying a word to anybody in HEAVENS just to get revenge on them for leaving him out on planning a photo shoot.

2. When HEAVENS was still a three-person group, Kira was the one who would latch onto Nagi like how Shion does now.

3. He has made too many various pieces of pottery to count for each of his fellow HEAVENS members that he gives to them for every birthday, Christmas, album and song release, and anniversary of the group being together.

4. He's not very caught up on internet memes, but he knows enough to mess with the younger members of HEAVENS (Nagi in particular) by purposely misusing dead memes.

5. One time for April Fool's day, Kira played random songs instead of the one that the boys were supposed to be rehearsing. These songs had a chaotic range, from "Der Flohwalzer" and "Moonlight Sonata" to the Mii Channel theme and of course Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up".

This one was a bit trickier to write than the other ones have been so far, but I'm happy that these are at least getting out on time!

1. Otoya's birthday is April 11, which makes his star sign an Aries.

2. His favorite food is curry and his least favorite foods are green peppers and black coffee.

3. He is Shining Saotome's son and Cecil's half-brother (they both have the same biological mother). It is mentioned in Debut that he is aware of the first half of this fact, but it is never specified if he ever becomes aware of the second part of it.

4. Otoya has a fear of heights in the games, but this fear was given to Syo in the anime.

5. As mentioned in one of the radio series, he enjoys playing soccer (or football depending on what part of the world you're in).

Up next, 5 Headcanons I Have!

1. He got everyone in STARISH into Animal Crossing and got a little jealous when he found out that Tokiya managed to get Raymond on his island.

2. Otoya sometimes joins Ren and Ai in their gaming bets and competitions. He's not very good at any of the video games they play, but he does enjoy them.

3. He likes helping Tomo-chan with her makeup skills by letting her practice on him.

4. It takes an awful lot to genuinely anger him. When someone manages to truly make him angry, some argue that his anger is worse than that of Camus and Ranmaru - combined.

5. He hardly ever swears, but when he does, he often throws in random words along with whatever curse words are on the tip of his tongue at that moment. One time when all three groups were rehearsing for the Maji Love Kingdom concert and Ren and Masato started arguing, he told them to "stop fighting over petty-ass pumpkin-spiced bullshit." While that worked to stop the argument, no one could take him seriously the rest of that rehearsal.

3. He is very awkward when someone near him is upset. This is because he wants to help comfort them, but he's not very good at comforting people.

4. As a way to apologize to Nagi for stealing the strawberry off his piece of cake as mentioned in one of the radio episodes, Yamato started giving Nagi the strawberry off any of his piece of cake.

5. He's in charge of most of HEAVENS's choreography.

Up first, 5 Fun Facts!

1. Because Utapri began as an otome game where she was meant to be a placeholder for the player, Haruka does not have an official birthday. However, the Japanese fan base gave her the unofficial birthday of March 3rd as it's the same day as Hinamatsuri - or Girl's Festival - in Japan. If March 3rd was her official birthday, her star sign would be a Pisces.

2. There are several differences to the way she's portrayed in the anime versus the games and manga. These include, but are not limited to: her ability to read sheet music (she could in the games and manga, but not initially in the anime), her background (never mentioned in the games or manga, but stated in the anime as living with her grandmother due to poor health as a child), and knowledge of certain people (she knew who Ren, Masato and Ringo were in the games and manga, but not in the anime).

3. In the manga, she can do fortune telling using tarot cards.

4. It's been hinted in Season 3 that it's possible for Haruka to have synesthesia, a condition where all of someone's senses are interconnected. Particularly, how each color has a certain sound to them. This could explain her skills in writing music.

1. Though not the main reason why her songs are well-written, it helps that Haruka has perfect pitch.

2. The only time someone wouldn't be able to read what she is thinking is whenever she's really angry. That's because it doesn't happen often and because she is one of those people who acts very calm and collected on the surface when they're actually seething with rage.

3. She's actually very aware of the crushes the boys have developed on her, she just pretends to be oblivious because she doesn't know how to handle it any other way.

4. Music isn't the only art she's skilled in! Haruka is a fairly decent photographer as well.

5. She's somewhat insecure about her eyes, mainly how they look different compared to everyone else's in the series. Her insecurity of them has gotten smaller since she first met the STARISH boys, but she still finds herself wondering what she'd look like if her eyes were like those of everyone around her.

1. He is easily the most hypocritical out of the Quartet Night boys when it comes to self care. He'll stress to his kouhais the importance of rest but then get caught pulling a third all-nighter for that week.

2. Ai thinks he's dying whenever he experiences a new emotion. Kinda like someone getting high or drunk the first time and accidentally overdoing it to the point where they forget they got high or drunk. Though they certainly don't do it without a hint of teasing, the other Quartet Night members eventually calm him down.

3. Despite his hobby for gaming and being great at video games, he is absolutely terrible at arcade and carnival games.

4. He runs a meme page that often gets confused for Shining Agency's actual social media page on each platform they have an account on. Everyone knows he's the one running it, but no one says anything to Saotome because his content is hilarious af.

5. Though his fellow Quartet Night members and kouhais from STARISH have been trying to teach him, Ai doesn't understand sarcasm very well. This has led him to overheat out of fear or embarrassment on more than one occasion.

2. Despite his birthday being on Valentine's Day and that holiday being a popular day to give someone chocolates, Ren dislikes chocolates due to an unspecified incident in his past involving the sweet.

3. He is interested in foreign languages and is fluent in Italian.

4. His VA, Junichi Suwabe, was once ranked the sexiest voice of the male voice acting industry by the staff of the Japanese morning TV show "Mezamashi TV." (tbh I don't blame them) You can hear more of his VA's work in many anime, including Jujutsu Kaisen (Sukuna), My Hero Academia (Aizawa), and Yuri on Ice (Victor Nikiforov).

5. One of Ren's hobbies is playing video games, which he shares with the next boy in this series, Ai.

1. We all know Ren is a bit of a flirt, but he absolutely CANNOT handle a taste of his own medicine. The quickest way to get him flustered is to flirt with him back.

2. Haruka once gave him a keychain of a tiny plush sheep that has wool matching her hair color. It was meant to be a gag gift, but he absolutely loves it.

3. Ren often likes to make bets with Ai while gaming together over things like who can win a round of Mario Kart or something like that. He has only ever won 3 of those bets.

4. He once got so drunk that he thought that he and Syo switched bodies. He cried because he didn't want to be short. Syo thought this was hilarious and started calling him "shorty" just to mess with him.

5. He was that one kid who often confused a can of Axe body spray with a shower. Of course, he doesn't do that anymore, but his brothers refuse to let him live it down to this day.

1. Camus's birthday is January 23rd, which makes his star sign an Aquarius.

2. Despite acting kind and gentleman-like in public and in front of fans, his true personality is actually cold and callous, not caring about anyone except for the Queen of his native Silk Palace.

3. He has a dog, a borzoi named Alexander. Camus can turn Alexander into a horse when his magic is at its fullest.

4. People in his home country (the fictitious land of Permafrost) do not have last names, which is why we don't often - if ever - see one in official or fan art of Camus. However, in the game All Star, he allows Haruka to choose one for him. Her choice (which is arguably more questionable than Justice Impulse /hj) is Cryszard - a combination of the words "crystal" and "blizzard."

5. For my Utapri fans who are also Genshin players, Camus and Zhongli have the same voice actor, Tomoaki Maeno.

1. Thanks to his role within the Silk Palace, Camus is fluent in multiple languages. These include - but are not limited to - Japanese, English, German, Russian, and French.

2. He has a light blue owl Squishmallow. There's no way in hell he'd tell anyone about it, though, especially since a few someones (Reiji and Ranmaru) would give him hell if they found out about it.

3. Despite his usually cold demeanor, Camus has a soft spot for most animals. However, he finds that a lot of animals are scared of him because of how cold he comes across as.

4. He might enjoy sweets, but he can't bake to save his life. Some argue that his baking skills are worse than Natsuki's cooking.

5. Camus is one of those types of people who doesn't say any bad words in public or in a work setting, but has the mouth of a sailor when alone. He accidentally swore one time during an interview leading up to the release of Maji Love Kingdom and was mortified when he realized it. The other boys (most notably the other Quartet Night members) refuse to let him live it down.

What Would Happen If You Asked Them to Watch Your Drink For You at a Party (Everyone I write for)

Finally, some hecking content. Also, first headcanons of 2022 on this blog! This one was one that popped into my head the other day and hasn't left since.

This will be written in the same way that the reactions to you not eating yet today scenario was, since I think that quite a few of them would have similar reactions.

Anyway, on with the scenario!

The ones who usually get asked to watch others' drinks because they can scare off any would-be creep with one cold stare. They're pretty much used to this by now: Syo, Ranmaru, Camus, Yamato, Kira

The ones who don't usually get asked to watch drinks for people, but make it their life's mission to protect it when they do: Tomo-chan, Tokiya, Ren, Masato, Ai

Same as the second category, but would somehow end up accidentally spilling or drinking your drink. They later apologize profusely and buy you another of whatever it was you were drinking: Cecil, Otoya, Natsuki, Reiji, Van

The ones who don't trust themselves enough to protect your drink so they find someone to be with them while they hold on to your drink: Haruka, Eiji, Shion

Headcanon #5 (I think, I lost count lol) - Camus

Camus cannot stand the song "Bezos, I" by Bo Burnham, but not for the reason one would think.

Yeah, it's been an earworm since it was first released, but that's not why he hates that song so much. The real reason is because someone (almost certainly Ranmaru) came up with a parody of it involving the Count of Permafrost, much to his dismay.

Since that little parody, the rest of Quartet Night and STARISH won't stop singing it purely just to annoy him.

5 Fun Facts and 5 Headcanons - Part 1/23: Cosmic Cuteness Edition

As soon as I announced the new project a couple nights ago, of course I'm posting the first part.

A very happy birthday to our favorite universally-cute idol!

Light spoilers for Season 2 in the fun facts, but nothing too major.

First up, 5 fun facts!

1. Nagi's birthday is January 7th, which makes his star sign a Capricorn.

2. He is the only HEAVENS member (back when they were a group of three) - and possibly the only person who watched STARISH's live performance of "2000% Love" - to not be affected by the resulting Happy Pulse.

3. Despite his cutesy and childish persona he has onstage, and the fact that he's the youngest member of HEAVENS and of the Utapri idols in general, Nagi is actually mentioned to be very intelligent and cunning.

4. An example of this intellect can be seen in his hobby of doing puzzles.

5. Nagi often gets embarrassed to admit that he likes childish things, as seen in Maji Love Kingdom where he gets flustered when Shion and Syo suggest that he's a fan of mascot character "Soda-Kun".

And now for 5 headcanons I have about him!

1. Nagi sleeps with a stuffed rainbow guinea pig named Rubik (yes, named after the Rubiks cube) every night. No one knows about this with the exception of Shion, who finds it adorable.

2. Speaking of Rubiks cubes, Nagi can solve one within a couple of minutes and has never been unable to solve one. His current record for the shortest amount of time it took for him to solve one is 15 seconds.

3. Whenever Eiji is having a bad day, Nagi will secretly sneak into his flower garden and softly sing to the flowers growing in it in the hopes of helping them grow stronger.

4. Though Nagi has pulled some elaborate pranks on his fellow HEAVENS members in the past (such as the time he painted Van's entire room orange mentioned in an episode of the first radio series), his favorite pranks are the ones that are only mildly inconvenient. Examples include moving everything in someone's room two inches to the left and baby-proofing the entire HEAVENS house... on two separate occasions.

5. Nagi taught himself sign language and offered to help teach the other HEAVENS members learn it as well. Little do they know that he sometimes misleads them into saying some pretty wild shit under the guise of it meaning something wholesome or innocent.

New Post Series Coming Soon: 5 Fun Facts and 5 Headcanons

I hope 2022 has treated you all well so far. I've had this idea for a post series for a couple months now, and wanted to wait until the new year started before I started the series.

This was inspired by a TikTok series by user alli_bugg that she does on her page where she mentions 5 fun facts about various anime characters on their canon birthdays. I figured, why not do that on my blog?

I'm also adding my own little twist to this series by also adding 5 small general headcanons I have for each character. I know most people here just write an imagine as a sort of "special" for character birthdays, but because my life offline is too hectic and energy-draining for that, I figured this would be easier to keep on top of while still celebrating with the rest of the fan base.

What can some of these fun facts include?

I'm going to try my best to include things that can be found in material other than the anime (the games, manga, etc), but my main source I'll be using is the Fandom wiki page. Some things I might include are:

- star signs

- likes and dislikes

- Canon information (Warning: might contain spoilers, especially for later seasons)

- info about their VAs and their roles outside of Utapri (important note: because Utapri does not have an official English dub at the time of writing and is likely one of those anime that will probably never get an English dub, assume any and all information regarding VAs is for the Japanese versions of any other anime mentioned)

- original concept ideas/stuff deleted from final product we all know and love (this one will probably be lacking, ngl)

What can headcanons include?

I have already posted a few headcanons on here, but I'm going to try not to repeat any of the ones I've already posted. They'll be more focused on the characters themselves rather than in given scenarios. These can include, but are not limited to:

- fluff (what I write best lmao)

- angst (I'll try not to post too much of this, we're celebrating birthdays here, after all)

- possibly canon-inspired

- smut/semi-smut (some characters, definitely not all in this little series)

When can we expect these posts?

My time zone is about 12 hours behind Japan's time zone, so I plan on posting each of these between the hours of noon and midnight EST the day before the birthday of the character in question, so that would make it available sometime between the hours of midnight and noon in Japanese time.

HEAVENS Pill Case Day 0 - Before Pics/Where I Want to Go With This

For anyone who missed my most recent post, I'm painting my pill case while I wait for my family's new health insurance plan to kick in sometime in mid-January. It's gonna be HEAVENS themed, so that's why I'm posting the process here.

I'm not quite done with finals weeks yet as I have one more exam later tonight, but I'll be done with the semester after that and will be done with school until January 10th.

I was a little impatient on starting this little project, though, so here are some pics of the case I'll be working with and what my plan is in order to get this done in time before I have health insurance again.

This is what it looks like right now. Not exactly the first color I'd choose for something I use every day.

I tried to get some of the blue writing that's on the front of it because it was smudging really bad and leaving stains in my skin whenever I tried to take my meds. Clorox wipes seemed to get the worst of it, but later tonight I'm going to see if nail polish remover can finish the job.

I also looked up what type of paint I should use since my case is plastic and I've never painted on plastic before. Acrylic paint apparently will be fine as well as Posca paint pens, so that's mainly what I'm going to be using.

Ultimately, I want to make a sort of splatter effect over most of the case with a white base and dark blue and silver splatters. Each lid is going to be a different color representing each member of HEAVENS, and the inside will be painted as well. More on that to come.

So yeah, that's what I'm starting with for now. Tonight I'm going to try to get this writing off the case and prepare to paint the entire thing in two coats of white tomorrow.

The mentally ill urge to paint my pill case and make it HEAVENS themed because why the hell not

One of the reason why I haven't been posting as much as I'd like to is because my mom recently lost her job that she had for almost 4 years. In doing so, my family lost our health insurance (pretty sure you all can guess which country I live in). All three members of my family take medication, which easily costs 2k without insurance, something we cannot afford with only two of the three of us having jobs.

Fortunately, my mom got another job which she started yesterday and in turn we'll have health insurance again. Unfortunately, the health insurance we'll be getting won't kick in until January 13th at the earliest. This, and the fact that medication isn't exactly cheap without insurance, means that I won't be able to access most of my meds until then.

Of the medications I normally take, I'm already out of all of them except one that I take every morning.

I figured that I'd pass the time waiting for the new health insurance to kick in by cleaning and painting my pill case so it's not just the boring orange it is right now.

And like the filthy HEAVENS stan I am I chose to paint it in that theme.

My question to you all is, would anybody be interested if I was to make posts about the process of painting it or seeing what it looks like when finished? I wouldn't start posting anything until this Saturday at the earliest due to this week being finals week and not having access to painting materials until Friday night.

I'd still make other posts on here, just there'd be some that would be me showing where I am in the process of painting the pill case.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this, and hopefully I'll be a little more active on here soon once finals are out of the way.

The Ballad of the Little Unicorn - Chapter 2: Guiding Starlight

Trying something a little different with presentation for this chapter compared to last chapter. I find that using related gifs seems to help my reach a bit compared to not using gifs for longer works, so let’s see how that goes. The first chapter for this work didn’t do very well at all, so I’m hoping that finally introducing the STARISH boys into the fic and putting in a gif will help my reach a bit.

Compared to the atmosphere of urban Tokyo earlier in the day, it was a seemingly calm mid-afternoon when Eri and Haruka walked out of a shoe store just a stone’s throw away from the park where they had met just a couple hours before, the former of the two jumping in excitement when she discovered that her new shoes lit up with each step she took. The older of the two watched in amusement at the younger girl’s delight, content for a brief moment when she found a place for them to rest for a short while. 

A strange urge came over Haruka to check her phone as she remembered that she didn’t quite know what time it was and never bothered to check after taking the little girl under her wing. She almost instantly regretted not stopping to check it earlier as her phone was nearly blown up with notifications of missed calls, voicemails and texts from the boys she worked with, her face turning white as a sheet as she counted a total of nearly fifty missed notifications. It was only then when she’d noticed that it was already quarter to four. 

“Oh no!” she muttered to herself, hoping young Eri didn’t hear her. “I can’t believe I’m almost 20 minutes late!” 

Unfortunately for her, the girl’s head tilted in confusion as she innocently asked, “Late for what, Miss Haruka?” 

“I’m late for a very important meeting for work,” Haruka explained in mild frustration, quick to add in seconds later, “Don’t worry, Eri, it’s not your fault! I should’ve finished my other errands earlier is all.” 

“... If you say so, Miss Haruka,” Eri replied hesitantly, not fully believing that she wasn’t the reason why the young woman was late for work. 

“So much for resting here, huh?” Haruka asked with a light albeit forced laugh in a feeble attempt to change topics. “Anyway, it looks like you’re coming with me to work, Eri. I’m sure the others would love to get a chance to meet you!” 

“Others?” inquired Eri as she grabbed onto Haruka’s hand and tried to keep up with the older girl’s quickened pace. “What kind of work do you do?”

“I’m a composer,” answered Haruka with a soft smile. “I write songs for this group of very talented guys to sing. They perform in lots of competitions, which is actually what this meeting’s about if I’m remembering it right.... Anyway, these guys are all so nice, so don’t be shy with them, okay?” 

Eri nodded and hummed in reply, recalling the concert at UA’s culture festival just a few months prior. The very moment she had truly smiled for the first time. She thought back to the culture fest, then felt all of her worries of how she was going to return home disappear when she made the connection that Haruka and the guys she was referring to also had that power to make someone smile as big as she did that day. She felt safe with the orange-haired woman holding her hand as they nearly ran to the agency where Haruka worked, already viewing them as the sort of heroes that save someone’s heart and soul rather than their physical being, the kind of hero Eri knew in her heart she wanted to be when she grew up. 

Just like Miss Kyouka, Eri thought to herself with a small smile as she lightly squeezed Haruka’s hand when their running pace finally slowed to a stop. 

“Well, here we are!” Haruka exclaimed with a slightly exasperated sigh, a relieved smile on her face as she knew she wouldn’t be too much later for the meeting than she already was. “Welcome to Shining Agency, Eri!” 

The little girl’s red eyes lit up at the large fancy building in front of her. It was about the same size as the UA dorms, except it was slightly taller and less U-shaped than the latter building. Eri couldn’t even begin to fathom the things that could take place inside that building, but her thoughts and amazement were interrupted as Haruka laughed slightly at Eri’s reaction before gently tugging at her hand. 

“Come on, Eri!” coaxed Haruka once the little girl’s attention finally turned back to her. “Let’s go inside!”

With that, the two hurried into the building, not wanting to keep Haruka from being any later than she already was. A few moments and checks from the older girl’s phone later, they finally arrived to the room where the meeting was to happen. Haruka slowly turned the door handle, opened the door and walked into the room with little Eri following close behind her. Profuse apologies spilled out of the yellow-eyed woman’s mouth as the white-haired girl took in her new surroundings once again from the safety of behind Haruka’s legs. 

The meeting room looked somewhat similar to a classroom in one of those high-class stereotypical rich private schools, nothing like what Eri had seen back in UA. Even with the lights on in the room and sunlight pouring in from the giant window on the right side of the room, it still seemed to be a tad dark inside. Seven young men were also inside the room, waiting for Haruka’s arrival. All of this overwhelmed Eri to the point where she decided it was best to keep her mouth shut and stay as hidden as possible until Haruka told her it was okay to come out. 

“You had us all really worried, Nanami!” exclaimed one of the guys, a handsome young man with red hair and matching eyes. “But we’re happy you’re okay!” 

“Sorry about that, everyone,” Haruka answered as she reached into her messenger bag to pull out a somewhat thick stack of papers. “It took a little longer than I hoped to get these printed.” 

“No way!” a short blond donning a dark blue fedora gasped as he snatched a copy of the papers Haruka was holding. “You already printed out the sheet music for our next piece?!”

“Would you really expect anything less from our Lady, Shorty?” inquired a tall strawberry-blond with a hint of teasing in his voice, chuckling a little at his friend’s sharp response of “I’m not short, Jinguji! You’re just tall!” 

Haruka let out a small sigh of annoyance at this and lightly squeezed Eri’s hand in her own when she felt the little girl’s nervousness growing in an attempt to reassure her that she was safe. Another of the young men - one with short blue hair and a seemingly permanent scowl on his face - seemed to catch on to Haruka’s annoyance, still unaware of the other presence behind her, and scolded the two for their antics. 

“Before I go too far into discussing the sheet music, there’s someone I’d like for you all to meet,” Haruka began to explain. “She’s actually the main reason why I was running a little late today.”

The boys all turned to each other in a mix of confusion and excitement before they all watched as their composer tried to coax the girl behind her out. 

“It’s alright, Eri,” Haruka reassured. “Don’t be shy, they’re not going to hurt you.”

Eri nodded slowly, knowing that it was her cue to make an appearance. She took the deepest breath her little lungs could allow before nervously stepping out from behind the safety of the short orange-haired woman to where all seven young men could see her. 

“Hello,” she stammered slightly, not being able to help the anxiety flowing through her veins at that moment as she tried to introduce herself. “My name’s Eri.”

A few moments of awkward silence fell into the room before the face of a tall glasses-wearing blond lit up like a Christmas tree. Haruka nearly began to panic at the sight, knowing what he was planning to do as she remembered the first time they’d met back in high school many years prior. Luckily, another young man with short dark hair stopped him before she needed to worry about hiding the frightened little girl. 

“Don’t even think about it, Shinomiya,” he deadpanned, earning a pout from the taller of the two men. “You’ll scare her half to death!” 

“No, I won’t!” ‘Shinomiya’ replied with a huff before a smile slowly made its way to his face. “Besides, look at her! She’s almost as cute as Elizabeth and Piyo-chan combined!”

“I never thought I’d hear Natsuki say that, but here we are,” the final guy - a tan man with dark brown hair and green eyes - mumbled to himself before he turned his attention to the composer. “Haruka! Why didn’t you tell us you have a little sister?! And a cute one at that!” 

“Um... Cecil, you got the wrong idea....” Haruka tried to explain before being cut off by the guy with the hat.

“So you kidnapped her?!” shrieked the short blond. 

“Miss Haruka wouldn’t do that!” Eri responded, still a bit shaken from her current situation. “She’s just trying to help me find Dadzawa, not hurt me!” 

A small laugh bubbled out of the redhead before he chimed in, “Oh, I get it now! You got lost and Nanami was just trying to help you. Is that right, Nanami?” 

A nod from Haruka later and the guys seemed to calm down a little compared to the way they initially presented themselves before finding out about Eri’s presence. Then, the redhead had a realization.

“Wait, did we ever introduce ourselves to Eri yet?” he asked, leading to the rest of the group thinking for a moment before shaking their heads.

Somehow, that managed to slip the boys’ minds as they were more caught up in figuring out how Haruka and Eri managed to cross paths in the first place rather than attempting to make themselves more approachable. 

“Ittoki’s right,” the peacemaker between ‘Shorty’ and ‘Jinguji’ piped up. “I just can’t believe I’ve been so rude as to not introduce myself. Anyway, Eri, my name’s Masato Hijirikawa. I hope you can find it in your heart one day to forgive us for how we’ve acted so far.” 

“Oh! Can I go next?!” chirped the glasses-wearing blond before he crouched down to Eri’s level. “I’m Natsuki Shinomiya, but you can call me Na-chan if that’s easier for you. I just noticed the horn on your head! How cute! Just like a little unicorn! Oh, and that short guy over there-”

“I can introduce myself, thank you very much,” sneered the blond with the hat before he calmed himself down and directed his attention to Eri. “So sorry about Natsuki, he’s... he’s just like that. Anyway, I’m Syo Kurusu, the strongest member of STARISH!” 

“Okay, Shorty, she gets it, you’re compensating,” ‘Jinguji’ snickered a little - much to Syo’s dismay - before he turned his attention to Eri. “Nice to meet you, Little Fawn. My name is Ren Jinguji.” 

Eri’s eyes lit up a little at the sound of Ren’s voice. It sounded somewhat familiar to her, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on how she recognized his voice. Her wondering about Ren’s voice was interrupted not long after it began by the energetic redhead.

“Ren, you’re comparing Eri to a baby deer?” he asked. After Ren confirmed with a nod, the redhead laughed a little before adding, “That’s really cute, it suits her. Oh, right! I never told Eri my name! I’m Otoya Ittoki, it’s really nice to meet you!” 

“I think Natsuki was a bit closer with ‘Little Unicorn,’ but ‘Little Fawn’ is cute too,” the brunet remarked. “Eri, was it? I’m Cecil Aijima. Heh, Natsuki was right, you do look like a unicorn!” 

“My name’s Tokiya Ichinose,” the final guy spoke up. “Nice to meet you.”

Unsure of how to process all the information she had just received, Eri hid behind Haruka once again before slowly poking her head out. She wasn’t sure what to say or how to react as this was the first time in a long time she’d met so many people all at once. Doubt slowly crept into her mind as she tried to remember all the boys’ names. 

“It’s a lot to take in, isn’t it, Eri?” Otoya asked, earning a nod from the young girl. “It’s alright if you don’t remember all our names, we’ll help you with that. Especially since you’re staying with us until we find your family.”

“Otoya, we can’t let her stay here,” warned Tokiya. 

Confusion spread across the rest of the group’s faces at Tokiya’s comment, but then slowly turned to anger within the rest of the guys. 

“What do you mean by that, Ichi?” Ren hissed lowly. “We can’t just leave the Little Fawn to fend for herself, you know.”

“Yeah!” shouted Syo. “Give us one good reason why Eri can’t stay with us until we can get her back to her family!”

“Seriously?” Tokiya sighed as he pinched the bridged of his nose in annoyance before giving in to his fellow members’ demands. “Fine, if it’s one good reason you want, then it’s one good reason I’ll give you.”

The Ballad of the Little Unicorn - Chapter 1: Small Fish, Big Pond

The moment we’ve been waiting for... the first chapter of that project I announced earlier this month!

Wonderland has always been said to be a place that is all-good - where no one gets hurt or causes any harm, everyone can live in happiness and peace, and can only be accessible in dreams. This place, as told in many stories past and present, is known as a sort of utopia for those longing for calm in the middle of the scariest of storms. 

Like most children her age, Eri had heard of this place from a story told to her shortly before she settled down to take a nap. She couldn’t deny that she was certainly much happier in the care of the UA faculty now than she was just four months ago in the clutches of that slimy, power-hungry Yakuza leader, yet she still longed to find a real Wonderland like she heard about in that story. Of course, no one who cared for Eri dared to tell her that it was only a story - no one in their right mind would ruin such a beautiful thing for a seven-year-old girl who has led a not-so-pleasant past for most of her life. However, no one would really have to spoil the truth for her as she would figure out on her own. 

As Eri slowly opened her eyes, it didn’t take long for her to piece together that she wasn’t in her room anymore. She was surprised to find her hands in grass below her and her back against a hard surface, which was rough and somewhat flaky at her touch when she ran one of her hands up and down it to try to figure out what she was leaning against. Once she stood herself up on her feet - only covered by a pair of thick, dark grey socks - she turned to see a massive oak tree. 

Startled by the realization that she was now outdoors, Eri’s first instinct was to slowly reach her right hand towards the horn on her head to feel for if it had changed in size since the moment before Mr. Aizawa had set her down for her nap just a few hours earlier. She breathed a sigh of relief when she felt no difference in its size before dusting the dirt off of the light pink sweater dress she was wearing, gifted to her for her birthday by the girls being taught by her guardian. It was only at that moment when Eri grew confused at her new surroundings. 

Isn’t there supposed to be snow on the ground? she wondered to herself. It’s January, and Mr. Deku told me there’d be snow on the ground now, so why isn’t there any? 

Eri slowly began to observe more of her surroundings: a small playground with a slide, some swings, and a few other basic playground equipment things not too far in front of her; picnic benches in most otherwise empty spots she could find; a lovely water fountain to the left of the tree she was leaning against; and all sorts of people seemingly enjoying themselves while not even acknowledging her existence.

Oh, a park! 

Somewhat more at ease with her current situation, Eri started to wander throughout the park. She didn’t have a care in the world that she was nowhere near home nor that her appearance would make her stick out like a sore thumb, she was just happy that she knew the type of environment she was in. That was, until she reached the gate blocking the park off from the rest of the city that made it its heart. 

A whole other world lay on the other side of that tall black gate - a bustling city where everyone seemed to be in a rush to get somewhere. Cars lined up in the streets for miles around, miserable-looking folks trying to hide how stressed they truly were in fancy business suits and dresses, not to mention the cacophonous tune of the shouts of some mildly inconvenienced people blended in with constant honking of car horns. 

Panic set in for Eri as she watched more of the scene on the other side of the gate unfold, eventually leading her to briskly turn around and run towards the fountain in the park’s center. The very thought of trying to find where her caretaker was in that setting shook her to her core. She kept running towards the fountain to keep herself from thinking about her current predicament of being lost and to get the scene of the hectic city streets out of her head. Fortunately for her, she got her wish moments later. 

Unfortunately, it came in the form of accidentally ramming into a total stranger’s legs. Eri fell backwards from the impact, ultimately landing on her back. As she tried to get herself to at least sit up, she heard the stranger say something, but couldn’t clearly make out what they were saying. Once she got herself to sit up and dusted herself off, Eri could finally understand what the stranger she ran into was trying to say. 

“Are you alright, little one?” the stranger’s voice asked, concern laced in the feminine-sounding voice.

Eri opened her eyes once she heard the question, still somewhat startled by the collision just a few moments earlier. Crouching down in front of her was a gorgeous young lady with sunny yellow eyes and almost-shoulder-length orange hair. Her left arm was extended out, as if to try to let Eri know to grab onto it so she could help her stand back up. The little girl obliged to this and slowly stood back up on her feet. It was only then that the woman took notice of two things Eri didn’t even acknowledge up until that point: 

“Sweetheart, where are your shoes?” inquired the woman. “Do your parents have them?”

Eri froze upon hearing those questions. She didn’t even notice that she had no shoes on, since she was in her bedroom at UA before waking up to find herself in the park. It also didn’t cross her mind that she really had no idea where she was or how she got there. Her uncertainty of how to answer didn’t go unnoticed by the young woman. 

“Oh..., you must be lost, aren’t you?” 

Somewhat hesitantly, Eri nodded in reply, sadness starting to etch across her face as she began to wonder how upset Mr. Aizawa must have been to discover her disappearance. Then, she finally spoke up. 

“I don’t know where I am,” Eri answered, stuttering every now and then to try to find the right words to say. “I was in my room before going to sleep, then I woke up and was under this big tree.... I think Dadzawa might be sad because I’m not home.” 

It was clear that the young woman was a bit taken aback by the girl’s response, but she was able to piece together that the girl’s family was nowhere nearby and that she very likely had no idea how she managed to become so far away from them. 

“I’m sure he is,” the orange-haired woman said before an idea popped into her head. “Would you like me to help you find him?”

Eri’s red eyes lit up at the question before she asked in response, “You’d really help me find Dadzawa?!” 

A kind smile replaced the worried expression on the young woman’s face before she laughed slightly at the little girl’s excitement, “Of course!”

“Thank you so much, miss...!” Eri exclaimed before she paused for a moment. “Um... what’s your name?”

“I’m Haruka Nanami,” replied the young woman. “It might just be easier for you to call me ‘Haruka,’ though.” 

“Thank you, Miss Haruka!” Eri cheered. “My name’s Eri, and since you’re helping me, I wanna be friends!” 

Haruka giggled a little at Eri’s response before she took the little girl’s hand into her own. It reminded her of the other little girl she had helped while on her way to the Saotome Academy entrance exams many years back. 

“Alright, Eri,” Haruka declared before the two headed out of the park together. “Let’s go find your family! Oh, and get you a pair of shoes while we’re at it.”
