fibonacci reminds him of the future- the world that the machine gods had called 'olympus', the one where his other self had served as an enemy of the world. the one who never knew love. the one who lacked the drive to go home. the one who knew war and nothing else. it's only thanks to those memories that he has any sense of how to navigate the place- and he's been jumpy.

relax, says the ghost of polites, and odysseus remembers the other man's smile. lead from the heart, loosen your grip on that sword just a bit. let go of the guilt. and he's tried- oh gods has he tried to relax, to adjust to this new place ⎛ far from home, which he knows is not the home he once knew. so much time has passed since then. he is not the same odysseus who went to war. he is not the same man who returned after twenty years. he's become a legend, and that's why he exists as he is- ⎠

some days are better than others.

this day, he's greeted by a rather large insect when he opens the door of the house he was brought to upon his arrival. he's unarmed, of course, because he was stripped of everything when he'd arrived. no aegis. no longbow. no access to noble phantasms. just his chiton, chlamys, and sandals. it had been a long time since he'd felt vulnerable.

relax. he almost thinks he can feel polites' hand on his shoulder, and there's something comforting about that ⎛ something so very haunting and sorrowful, and he wished things had been different. he wishes that there could've been another way. ⎠ relax.

thankfully, perhaps, there's a woman with bright hair quickly approaching. ❝ is this ... ❞ an awkward gesture toward the insect, ❝ yours? ❞

this place is, of course, far from home. wherever it was that odysseus allowed his heart to begin to settle was often torn away from him- as if the gods simply wished to continue to make his life as difficult as possible. a never-ending series of trials and battles, and hadn't he lived through that already? hadn't he found his way back? he had memories that were his, and some that were .... well, even in the lostbelt, that person had worn his face and bore his name. that person had faced him before. fought and killed him. it wasn't until after the fall of olympus that he'd found any semblance of self-

⎛ it was like being lost again. far from home. how long had he wandered this time? and what did he have to fight for, this time? that was how he'd undermined the person he'd been in olympus? lacking memories of the very things that had made odysseus a legend, how could he ever have thought to defeat chaldea? ⎠

thanks to ritsuka fujimaru, he wasn't lost in the abyss forever. she was a kind master ⎛ she reminded him of ... no. he had never really met kirschtaria, he'd only learned of the lostbelt through memories that were not really his own. like his other self had once done ⎠ and he was happy to serve beside her. treat me as you wish. as your subordinate, as your equal. whatever pleases you, he'd said. needless to say, she treated him with respect, and in the end, that's all he'd wanted.

idk exactly what they were thinking not making ody an archer class servant but here we are with rider ody ⎛ i love him deeply! ⎠

proper human history makes sense, the entire thing is just u know. as a heroic spirit, he still lived the life spoken of in mythology.

the issue is the lostbelt where he DIDN'T and also they made atlantis and olympus like a futuristic apocalypse because fate doesn't care. in the context of being called there as lostbelt king, he had some pretty intense high tech things ... imagine if u just made the odyssey but also fused it with like. giant robots and star wars or whatever.

somehow this crossed over to chaldea and once again we have to deal with it. he's just as baffled as the rest of us, but heroic spirits also have a fun thing where they KNOW about history otherwise it would be counterproductive. a nice treat from the throne of heroes so they aren't floundering in context of the society they're summoned to ...

still loves penelope. that's not going to change, ever. good luck trying to charm him, he's not only fully devoted, he's DENSE about that sort of thing. sometimes when he's nice back to people, they think he's flirting. he is not.

loyal to his summoner- because ultimately he's that sort of guy!

fate grand order says a lot of things, but i get to play in the sandbox of "there's context behind this, so regardless of what they gave me, we will be talking about the odyssey ... and probably epic the musical, too"

for those of you who are not familiar with the typemoon franchise and wonder why the heck every other post here will be about epic the musical, the concept of a heroic spirit in fate is literally "the history / mythology that we know" + "the perceptions of the people who summon them",

do not ask me about the atlantis and olympus lostbelts and why they are like the high tech apocalypse. but understand that under all of that, odysseus is still the dude who killed like 13 trojans in their sleep and stole their horses and all the other very ... unhinged things he did in times of war. the same guy who wanted to throw hands with gods. our favorite(?) wifeguy.

expect me to talk about the odyssey (non-fate type) when given the opportunity, because i have had greek and roman mythology as my special interest under all my other special interests since i was like 10.

i also write seofon and malchior. and balduran but i mentioned him already. i am 31+ and use he/him pronouns :)
