ill never understand why people rebut "its fucked up that cavetown was forced out of the closet" with "if you didn't know he was a trans man you weren't paying attention to his music" like, him making art about his identity doesnt give you, the listener, any right to make it public for him?? his coming out to his community should have been on his own terms, he was clearly uncomfortable with being viewed as a "trans artist" and most of his early community respected that. and dont even get me started on "he shouldnt have used the t-slur if he wasnt ready to come out" that tumblr post was years old, as in way before he had a massive following, possibly before he had any following at all! how would you feel if someone dug through your old blog and make out come out with sensitive information to hundreds of thousands of people, some of whom already hate you, to prove youre not transphobic?? how would you feel??

the cavetown discourse frustrates me because its so shallow, like, its obvious from his apology that he grew from the place where he made those tweets and is more than willing to make a change, and its totally okay not to forgive him, I dont fully forgive him, i havent been able to listen to his music or watch his old youtube videos without feeling uneasy for weeks but people are far more concerned with branding him as an bigot and as "problematic" than they are concerned with being hurt by his words and actions

people are willing to watch the same movie about a heterosexual couple over and over and over again year by year ever since the first romantic “movie” came out in 1890, but god forbid they make another wlw period drama in the same year “i-think-it’s-gonna-suck-cuz-it’s-so-similar-to-poalof” WHAT THE FUCK

i’ll gladly watch ammonite a million times as well as i will wait for better representation, like films with wlwoc and no-age-gap-wlw and every single wlw story that deserves to be told

i know that representation of our stories is shit but it IS getting better. of course we deserve more, but the hate on ammonite isn’t rational?? you can’t compare the representation of wlw in hollywood movies 20, hell even 10 and less years ago and now. it is getting better and we will get better representation and we will get our gay revenge!!!

quite frankly i’m really happy that in the future i’ll be able to choose from a pile of wlw period dramas, not watch the same (and the only) one over and over again, aren’t you??

Aaron Burr was, is and continues to be my favourite character from Hamilton because he has THE BEST songs, Leslie’s acting is phenomenal, and yes, I do have a thing for sympathising with ‘villains’ especially when said villain is self aware about being a villain like wow look at that character what’s not to love????
