the next day, seonghwa watches from afar as you walk into the cafeteria as confidently as you always do. your chin high, hair bouncing in your ponytail with every step you take, your characteristic smile on your face. he is surprised yet again, needless to say, at how you could mask your emotions this well. amazed at how if someone didn't know something had happened with you, they would just never know that you were feeling low.

but he can see right through you, as always. he sees your wary eyes, looking alert and perked up, looking at people from afar and trying to understand whether they're just putting up an act towards you as well. he feels guilty for not pushing away yoojeong when he was supposed to, but he doesn't dare to go apologise to you. you were known for being extremely scary when mad and even blatantly ignore peoples' existence when they got on your wrong side.

so seonghwa watches as you walk over and sit opposite of chaeyoung, smiling brightly at her. for a few moments, he wishes he was her. with a sigh, he turns back to wooyoung, who is loudly talking about how he and his friend's brother stole ice cream from an ice cream truck over the weekend. wooyoung was walking over to your table before seonghwa had quickly intercepted him, nearly forcing him to sit on their table instead, and wooyoung being "wooyoung the outgoing loud mf", immediately sat and engulfed everyone around him in the conversation. he seemes so excited as he narrates the incident that he is nearly jumping on his chair and over the table even, hongjoong desperately trying to hold him down while san and mingi laugh at him. yeosang and jongho, disinterested, talk about their upcoming law project and yunho, as usual, was absent.

he looks back at chaeyoung hoping she was handling things well (which he knew she was because chaeyoung had a way with words but he still hoped), immediately met with your laughing face while chaeyoung says what looks like a joke to you.

"dude i think you like her." san says suddenly, seonghwa whipping his head back to look at his friend. "i thought we've talked enough times about the bro code."

"wait, who?" wooyoung asks looking more interested than he was supposed to be.

"chaeyoung, of course. mingi's girlfriend or not, seonghwa has been chiming behind her for a long time now."

"yah, park seonghwa i told you to not flirt with her dude!" mingi says feigning anger. seonghwa sighs not replying. he knows mingi knows he would never take away his girlfriend.

"oh, i see." wooyoung grows quiet after that. the boys talk about different topics throughout lunch, seonghwa stealing quick glances at you, followed immediately after with a comment from san that he ignores.

"wooyoung do you know wha—" but seonghwa is stopped when the bell rings marking the end of lunch, and you walk over to their table to walk with wooyoung both of yours' next class. seonghwa stares at you, hoping you'd look back. but when you leave without sparing him even a hint of a glance, he can't help but feel sad and guilty.

chaeyoung catches up with him as he walks to his class and he looks as him hopefully. chaeyoung, however, the girl she is, masters her thoughts and emotions and lets nothing show on her face as she says, "i'll text you later. i have calc with y/n now."

but the mention of your name instead of the phrase "your girlfriend" unveils everything to seonghwa.

a/n ;; a few things to say today!! totally unrelated and unimportant lmal BUTT. okay so i finished my lab assignments today and i just have three more assignments left to finish! i'm proud of myself for being this productive so i'll rub it in my readers' faces. also, i very intuitively deleted most of my social media because i wanted to take a mental break from the anxiety it gave me to which i owe my improved productivity, so if anyone wants to finish school assignments then DELETE INSTAGRAM DISYJSIDH. also, this social media break also gave me time to focus on myself and my needs and i swear i have never gotten over a period of anxiety this quickly, so if you're feeling down, i also recommend DELETING INSTAGRAM JDJSHFHDJ. thirdly and finally, i have ancraophobia (hopefully got the name correct) which is the phobia of gusts and speedy winds, and we recently had a cyclone pass pretty close by but not really. and i bullied the storm because she looked uglee on satellite imagery lmao ok bye.
