Verity kissed her back, wishing desperately that she could do more. Passionate as it was, even the kiss itself felt more transactional than anything else as she tried to ensure that Jess got enough of her blood. Drinking from a vampire would never be as satisfying as devouring a human or a witch, but it had the effect of taking a caffeine shot; it would sustain her, and it would give her the strength she needed to escape. One of Verity's hands lowered, her lips still on Jess, and she very subtly cracked the lock. If there were cameras, the motion would have been blocked by their bodies pressing against each other; by the time they noticed what Verity had done, they would both be gone. Pulling back, Verity looked purposefully into Jessica's eyes. "Come back to me." Leaning in to kiss her once more, she added in a whisper meant just for her. "Give them a show."
Jessica was dying of thirst, and Verity was an oasis. She clung to her every word, deciphering their meaning, devouring them. They were in a dangerous place, but Jess knew now that there was no one more dangerous than a Vandeviere. "If you think you can help me, then maybe there really is hope," she said carefully. Jess watched with anticipation as Verity bared her fangs, biting down on her own lip. Jess' eyes went to the blood that now coated her tongue. The taste of Verity's blood was unforgettable, and she could only ever want more. She saw it now, her salvation. Her way out of here. The strength that Verity was offering her now. Jess answered her by meeting her lips through the bars, her blood, her touch, was like an electric shock through her system. She wanted more, but this was enough. Verity Vandeviere had given her everything she needed.

Verity smiled almost sweetly at that sentiment, still caressing the back of her hands with all the care and adoration that shouldn't be possible from somethings as monstrous as a Vandeviere. "You certainly deserve better." She agreed, "You have no idea of the places I could take you, but that'll be but a dream if you don't pull yourself back." Verity was overly aware of her wording, knowing that the vampires upstairs would be able to hear her, and hoping that Jessica would understand. "I have always believed in your power, Jessica Harvelle." Her smile turned to fangs and Verity bit down on her bottom lip, drawing blood. Licking the blood so that it coated her tongue, Verity leaned as close as she could to Jessica, offering her lips to her through the bars.
"No, it's not. All things considered, at least we perfect 10s can still get together." She watched Verity carefully. Longingly. Before she'd flipped her switch, she'd been afraid of Verity Vandeviere. Interested, yes but scared. And she was bad, wasn't she? Now, she had gained much needed perspective. There was no need to pretend or deny the things that she wanted. Jess closed her eyes when Verity's hands touched hers, suddenly transfixed by her close proximity. "I've had better vacations," she said, lips twitching into a smile. She couldn't take her eyes off Verity then. The offer, the insinuation, was enough to give her renewed hope. "Anything's possible. If you think I can... then I can."

"Well... We can't hold that against them, can we? It's hardly a fair competition." Verity smiled, but watched her closely as she moved slowly towards the bars. Starving her like this was barbaric... What gave them the right to force her humanity one way or the other? Vampires weren't meant to be caged... Jessica Harvelle wasn't meant to be caged. Verity approached her, not hesitating as she placed her hands on the bars too, over Jessica's hands, and leaned in close to her. "Someone ought to. I don't imagine you're enjoying this current life." She smirked, gently running her thumbs across the back of her fingers. "Do you want me to save you, Jessica Harvelle? Or do we think that maybe... you can save yourself?"
It couldn't be... Jessica used what was left of her strength to get back up on her feet, standing before her and all her glory. Verity Vandeviere. She let out an unexpected laugh. This was just too good, right? Jess pressed her lips together, the taste of her own blood lingering on her tongue. "No, they've got it much better than me. But they're not as pretty," she added, ruffling the side of Ruby's dress.
With that, she focused on moving towards the bars- slowly. She wrapped her fingers around them, holding herself up. "Things must be really bad if they're calling in the big guns," she smiled. Then, in a raspy whisper, she asked- "Are you here to save my soul, Verity Vandeviere?"

What a strange situation to have found herself in... Friends. Friends that wanted her to help another friend who was currently trapped in the cellar of a famous bloodline hunter home. They were so desperate to force Jessica's humanity back on that those bloodline hunters willingly invited her into their home. If Vivian had known about this, she would have been laughing with delight, but it seemed that she was too preoccupied by some boy to see how well she had played her part in this town. It was still a part, right? Verity wasn't sure, but now was not the time for self-discovery.
A buzz of excitement ran through her when Jessica spoke and she had to fight to keep a smile from her lips until after the door had been closed behind her. "I've never been to a zoo..." Verity mused as she approached the cage, her head tilted ever so slightly as she took in Jessica's appearance. She could see how hungry she was and it damn near broke her heart. "Is this how humans treat the animals there?"
Flashback: June 2014, McReid Cellar
Jessica couldn't believe that David fuckin' Perry had managed to get one over on her. It was embarrassing. And for what? Because she stole her precious Ruby's prom dress? Okay. Fine. She had been about to bite into her bestie's neck with any luck when he got her but still! Talk about excessive, loser, behaviour. And now here she was, wasting away in this damn cellar. Caged. Starving. Forced to entertain sad sack, after sad sack, trying to turn her humanity back on.
What a waste of time.
When she heard the door open, she rolled her eyes. She was weak but that didn't stop the sarcasm- "The zoo's closed today, thank you. Try again tomorrow." @l-ogandurante @v-erityvandeviere

𝒱𝑒𝓇𝒾𝓉𝓎 𝒱𝒶𝓃𝒹𝑒𝓋𝒾𝑒𝓇𝑒
Pronouns: She/Her Birthday: 1st January 1691 (326) Species: Vampire Turned: 1715 (physically 24) by Caius Jostein Alliance: Neutral - Unaffiliated Location: Outside the dome
So What Happened?
It’s important to know that Verity Vandeviere’s loyalty has always been to her twin sister, Vivian Vandeviere. No matter what happens, she always comes back to Vivian. They’re stuck together like glue and Verity has spent over 300 years with her. Her sister would never let her be alive for eternity alone and for that, Verity would always love her.
In Havensdale, Verity played around with living a different way. She got a job, she became friendly with ‘bunny diet’ vampires like Corey Andrews. She played the part of ‘helping hand’, she played it so well it might even have been real... But when it came to turning Jessica Harvelle’s humanity back on, she only pretended to help. In fact, she ended up being the one to help unleash Jess from the McReid cellar where they were holding her.
In the chaos of Founder’s Festival, it almost took a moment for the truth to sink in: Vivian wasn’t there anymore. Vivian was gone! Vivian had been kidnapped and she was long outside the dome that Verity was now trapped inside. For the first time in over 300 years, Verity was truly alone in this world without her sister.
She doesn’t fit in with the ‘bad guys’, she doesn’t find a place with the ‘good guys’ and she’s left lost in this world. Without Vivian, Verity didn’t know what to do. What was she supposed to do? Fast forward and it’s November 2016 and Ruby McReid is turned into a vampire. They hadn’t really spoken much since Ruby saved Verity from a rogue Bounty Hunter who tried to kill or kidnap her on ‘human day’. It didn’t matter, Verity saw her opportunity to get out of the dome and she took it.
Under normal circumstances, Ruby never would have let Verity leave with her, but nothing was normal anymore. Verity promised to teach Ruby how to control her new, vampiric impulses and cravings if Ruby helped her track down her sister. Cue the montage... Ruby and Verity spend every moment together for 6 months, training and hunting down Vivian. They had a bond, didn’t they?
They finally track down Vivian, trapped in a cage in the last standing Institute located underneath the Mojave Desert. They got her out and just like that it was over. All that time spent together and it meant nothing to Ruby in the end. She swore to kill them both if they ever crossed her path again, if they ever returned to Havensdale.
With Vivian back, they both should have been free. Free of Havensdale, free of cages, but Vivian wouldn’t have it. Verity tried so hard to talk her out of it, begged Vivian to let go of her need for revenge, pleaded with her, but she can’t. Verity doesn’t want to be alone again, so it doesn’t matter what Verity wants; she goes along with Vivian because she has to.
And sure, Verity wants Vivian to have her revenge, but she also doesn’t want to see any of the McReids hurt. If anything happened to them- if anything happened to Carrie- Ruby would never forgive her. Ruby, who, like Vivian, couldn’t let her sister be alone in this world for all eternity.
