one of the things that really hurts, like existentially, about being a transgender woman, is the fact that every transgender woman i know, even briefly or tangentially, is traumatized, or suicidal, or in a precarious housing situation, or mentally ill, or seeking medical transition services and unable to access them, or suffering from any number of the various tribulations endemic to being a transgender woman.
I absolutely sincerely wish that I could help everyone, to be there for everyone… but the sad reality is that i can’t. i don’t have enough money or time or resources to help everybody. i try as much as i can but there’s always times when i can’t help, or even in helping i cannot do enough or do the right thing to help enough.
i hope it doesn’t sound like i have a savior complex or something. it just hurts to see suffering over and over and not being able to alleviate it. there’s no way to remove that feeling.

With Kate Mckinnon voicing Ms Frizzle, imagine how upset conservatives will get when they find out a lesbian is using magic to teach kids science. It’s like their worst nightmare.

Please don't tell me she's voicing Ms. Frizzle
She's a transmisogynist

Things Autistic People Need:
Accessibility
Fidget tools (cubes, spinners, tangles, chewelry, etc.) allowed in the work place
Designated quiet areas at events
Affordable diagnoses esp. for adults
Better diagnoses for adults, trans and non-binary persons, female persons, and persons of color
Living wage/affordable housing (since a good portion of us aren’t able to work 40hrs+/wk and government assistance isn’t always reliable)
Affordable, good-textured clothing
Alternate means of communication (ex: basics of sign language) widely taught
End of functioning labels and “mental age”
Therapy that is helpful and healthy and that isn’t legally considered torture
Things Autistic People Don’t Need
A cure - from what we know, it’s most likely genetic
Awareness - pretty much everybody knows autism exists
Fellow auties, feel free to add your own. Allistics (non-autistic persons) can reblog but please don’t add.

pre-e trans lesbians and never-e trans lesbians are beautiful, brave and valued members of the lesbian community. trans lesbians with deep voices? amazing trans lesbians who shave every day? Iconic trans lesbians who have facial hair and love it? worth so much trans lesbians who are muscular? deserve the world the validity of a woman’s lesbian identity is not dependent on her transition status, nor is it dependent on presenting in a certain way – your love of women is powerful. when i was in like third grade i went to this science camp and one night at campfire they told us a story about a ufo crashing into a lake nearby and then later in the middle of the night they woke us all up and told us the aliens were back and this time they’d laid eggs in the woods !! it was our duty to arm ourselves and go destroy the eggs, so we armored up in tinfoil and shaving cream ( ????? ) and marched into the woods ready to save the planet. the ‘eggs’ were whole watermelons hidden around the camp and we had to smash them open on trees and rocks and eat the alien fetus/watermelon goo as fast as possible. i cannot emphasis enough the raw joy of digging into a watermelon with your bare hands and stuffing it into your face in the middle of the night in the woods, barely taking time to chew so that you can save the planet from hostile aliens, and i think i became the person i am because of that night.

if I offered you $20, would you take it?
How about if I crumpled it up?
Stepped on it?
you would probably take it even though it was crumpled and stepped on it. Do you know why?
Because it is still $20, and its worth has not changed.
The same goes for you; if you have a bad day, or if something bad happens to you, you are not worthless.
if someone crumples you up or steps on you, your worth does not change. You are still just as valuable as you were before.

it’s interesting that many black parents/families deny the existence of mental illness in their children, especially because it’s clear that they themselves are suffering with some deep rooted problems and issues within. they deny the existence of it because they would be forced to not only admit their hand in their children’s mental health, but would also be forced to confront these issues within themselves. and they ain’t ready to handle all that.
