A clawed hand holds the chain loosely, ready to drop it in the girl's open palms. The locket itself is fairly simple. Smooth and oval-shaped, it must have been recently polished, for it shines brightly in the sunlight. Puck doesn't think his usual tactic of making jewelry out of bones will do for a child's birthday, so he hopes the relatively bland trinket isn't too terrible of a gift. If nothing else, she can sell it ( which Puck is sure she'd do, anyway. ) ❝ I made sure to pick out the shiniest one. Out of respect for your crow-like tendencies. ❞ Puck pulls his other hand from behind his back, a dandelion nestled between his fingers. ❝ I thought you might also like to make a wish . . . ？❞

Wow... When was the last time she celebrated her birthday? With her mum no doubt, but even that felt so long ago. And what could they have even done? They were dirt poor. The best gift Vee could receive was whatever she could nab off the streets for herself. And that was okay. That was good enough. But now, her mum was gone...and her family had changed. Different people cared about her. And though it was an adjustment, Vee was happy.

A look of surprise crossed the child's face when a locket fell into her hands. It was simple as it was beautiful... Her experience in selling stolen jewelry told her that the locket itself was gold, or at least looked close enough to be sold as gold. It was shiny and pretty, exactly the sort of thing that Vee would snatch off of an unsuspecting victim...

And it seemed that was Puck's intent. Vee looked up at him when he spoke, her short and thin fingers wrapping tightly around the jewelry. He was right; the locket fit perfectly for her 'crow-like tendencies', as he put it. But Vee always stole the shiny things to make good gold off of them... And she already knew she wouldn't be able to bring herself to sell this.

The girl opened up the golden locket, finding the space empty inside. And then, Puck offered her a dandelion... She shook her head at the offer of a wish. Then, Vee carefully took the delicate weed, laid it on a nearby table...and slammed a book over it. The little rogue then smiled as she revealed the now flattened plant. She picked it up again, even more carefully than before...and tucked it inside the locket.

There... Now she could have a stupid dandelion with her always, just to remind her of the stupid Puck who gave it to her.
