pleiadescoffeeshop:
“Gotcha! Gonna run you 500 pyen total. Let me get everything together.”
Foresight had Namid set the electric kettle to boil shortly after opening this morning, so it was a short matter of removing it, pulling out the proper leaves from the container, and straining it through the infuser. While that worked its magic, the woman opened the display case, carefully removing a snickerdoodle with a pair of tongs. The treat was dropped into a bag, which was placed on the counter in front of Crane.
“Yes, the little lady is mine,” Namid responded, tone fond. “Mi bella Wapasha is the unofficial waitress here. She insists on helping around the shop, and I’ve yet to find a better assistant when it gets busy! It also helps that she’s cute as a button, too; sometimes it comes with good tips.” She winked at Crane, then laughed outright.
“Pasha, come say hi!” she called. The Pokemon in question bounced over to the stranger, waving a paw.
“Sme Smeargle!”
“Adorable and helpful! What a rare combination. Usually, I find that the cuter the Pokemon, the more predisposed they are to mischief.”
After they had fumbled with their wallet, producing a few old, somewhat crumpled bills, Crane crouched down to be closer to Wapasha’s eye level. “Hello. I’ve never seen a Smeargle with your coloration in person before. Would you mind if I gave you a quick pet?”
Then they asked Namid, “How did the two of you meet?”

//BWAHAHAHA I CAN CLIP A POST WITH IMAGES WITHOUT FUCKING ABOUT WITH THE EDITABLE REBLOGS EXTENSION
I’m sure it’s a fine and good extension but it’s fighting tumblr itself so glitches are inevitable. And as someone who does technical QA for a living I already deal with enough glitchy bullshit I don’t need more in my downtime.

//The biggest difference between me and Crane is that I’m kinda eeehhh about most animals (except for reptiles, jellyfish, sharks, and cats) while Crane just loves ALL THE POKEMON and the natural world in general. I’d even call them a naturalist if it wasn’t for the whole tech nerd/hacker thing they have going on.
Also Crane’s definitely that person who just has to pet all the new (domestic) Pokemon they meet. “Sorry to bother you, ma’am, but may I pet your dog Lillipup?”
They’ve even approached people with Pokemon most people would deem unsuitable for petting and petted them anyway (with permission!). Like Muk. You need heavy duty gloves for that, but it’s doable. There is a physical body under all the ooze after all.
At least Crane has enough good sense to be polite and safe about it.

//I consulted my World of Darkness corebook, because they have a Virtue/Vice system that uses the 7 deadly sins (back in 1.0 anyway) and I can't handle real theology.
And low and behold I find the following “Gluttony is about indulging appetites to the exclusion of everything else [...] A glutton makes any sacrifice to feed his insatiable appetite for pleasure, regardless of the cost to himself or those around him.” And then goes on to make references to addiction (nWoD 1.0 corebook, pg104)
So...yeah. That’s a thing.
Meanwhile Greed is about personal gain (generally economic) at the expense of others.
v0xr0t replied to your post: 7 Deadly Sins Quiz! Tagged by: technically…
//how the fuck did you get high gluttony????
that’s what i’m wondering……………….i feel like a bunch of my greed points might have gone there, considering the line between greed and gluttony is kind of blurry. i mean gluttony doesn’t refer to just literal eating, right?? she could be called gluttonous just in terms of her overabundance of wealth. that or i broke the quiz by not selecting any of the options on the one food question lmao…
what a mysterious quiz

balsamina:
“Ah,” Lusamine said with a chuckle. Spoken like a true Aether Foundation employee.
She was about to say something about how such trips didn’t have to be done alone (distantly, she could remember spending many of her own breaks joining Mohn and Wicke on impromptu research trips; how charmed and simple those times seemed now), but Crane spoke first. She stopped, listened, and then smiled faintly. The source of the call was too far away for her to identify it with certainty, but–
“One of your Clefairy?” Her hushed voice contained the slightest hint of excitement.
Crane’s face lit up, like a gleeful child anticipating a delightful gift. With a low, almost-reverent whisper, they replied, “Yes.”
They quickened their pace, but was careful to make sure Lusamine could keep up. As they grew closer, the sounds grew more frequent and distinct -- must be a full court. A twist, a turn and then the path opened up into a large, vaulted chamber with a gap in the ceiling. From the gap streamed moonlight. It pooled on the cave floor, and around it clustered a good dozen or so Clefairy.
A stalagmite provided just enough cover for Crane to get closer and record the proceedings with their cellphone.

pleiadescoffeeshop:
“Not at all,” Namid replied with a chuckle of her own. “A coffeeshop Pleiades calls itself, but tea is the other side of the caffeination coin. Both are needed to keep the proper balance in the world. …well, that’s what college students going through finals tell me, anyway.”
Indeed, she has seen both consumed in alarming quantities once winter and summer rolled in. Usually lacking sugar and cream, and placed in almost jug-sized vacuum flasks.
She tapped the menu taped to the counter. “Mint, we do not have, but peppermint is available. Unless that would be a problem?”
Crane blinked. “...there’s a difference? Which, ah, I guess that means there isn’t a problem. So one small peppermint tea and --”
Were those snickerdoodles in the display case? Yes. yes they were. When was the last time they had indulged in a real, not mass-produced pastry? Too long. Far too long.
“-- and one of those snickerdoodles.”
They glanced over at the Smeargle then back at Namid. “Say, that Smeargle, are they yours?”

//Having a meeting go juuuuust long enough for you to miss your train is literally the worst.
Thankfully, it was an every-15-minutes train so I didn’t have to wait that long BUT STILL
Anyway, probably going to work on drafts a little later after I get caught up on Victoria \0/

When Crane had made a post asking for recommendations on what was worth doing in Sinnoh’s urban areas, they had received plenty of responses listing off the attractions of the major cities -- the gardens of Floaroma Town, Canalave City Library, Hearthome’s Amity Square -- but one post had shyly mentioned a coffeshop: “Pleiades”. At the time, they’d filed the suggestion away and promptly forgot about it.
But, somehow, after spending the better part of the week tromping about Mt. Coronet, they found themselves in front of the small coffeshop. Curiosity got the best of them. And they did want a good cup of tea.
They smiled at the Smeargle after stepping inside. Ah, a shiny! How rare! They’d have to ask about it. Tea first though.
“Oh my. After such a bold claim, would it be bad form to ask for mint tea, if you have it?” Crane said with a small chuckle.
“Cariño, make sure to wipe down that table in the corner,” called a voice from the back.
“Smeargle!” replied the shiny Pokemon in an affirmative. The creature picked up the rag she was using and pattered to the table in question, laying it delicately over the spots of tea on the surface. As she made to swipe it over the mess, humming a small tune to herself, the jingling of the bell above the door caught her attention, and a tiny head swiveled in its direction. The Smeargle let out a warbling cry, informing her Trainer of the visitor.
From a back room, Namid stepped out, wiping her hands on a dishtowel. With a slow smile, she moved to stand behind the counter, crossing her arms and leaning against the wood.
“Welcome to Pleiades,” she greeted, voice low and accented. “Best bit of coffee this side of the galaxy. What can I do you for?”

//Drafts are empty. Hit me up for plotting and/or memes.
There’s never an expiration date on rp memes, as long as you can provide enough context and/or a post ID.
Also I’m still doing the ♬in the askbox for a song (or two) I associated with your character.

balsamina:
Despite herself, Lusamine followed Crane’s laugh with one of her own. “You’re sweet to say so.”
Crane gave her an apology and a brief explanation, and she smiled with vague amusement. A small thought that her kind (too kind) escort had no reason to apologize to her drifted through her head, butting up against the part of her that was still furious.
They should have gotten moving, if she was feeling better. Yes, it was her who was slowing them down– her with her ever-present fatigue. Her reply was spoken on a heavy sigh.
“… Right.” An apology of her own hovered on the tip of her tongue before she thought to reword it into something a little less meek. “Do forgive me, Crane.”
She straightened her back and got to her feet, then took a moment to smooth out her dress before beginning to walk. She wasn’t feeling all that much better, but at least the appropriate grace was back in her movements– and she was now willing to put her skills as an excellent conversationalist to proper use.
“You said you’ve never travelled with someone else before,” she started. “More of the lone Lycanroc type, are you?”
A response (’It’s hard to coordinate travel plans when you’re spooked out of your mind’) was on the tip of Crane’s tongue before they bit it down. No way they were going to lead the conversation in that direction. But they could still be honest...just not that honest. “Hm...I suppose, though not intentionally. Back in college, I’d be invited to spend breaks in various cities, but I didn’t see the appeal, not when I could be out in the wilds observing rare Pokemon.”
Just when they were about to ask about Lusamine’s own travel experiences, they heard a faint, indistinct Pokemon cry. “Hold on.”
Concentrating, they heard it again. “That’s a good sign.”
