Please hand it over sir

"Every book on magic? I have whole shelves full of books about magic."
The man sighed, he turned to guide Shell through the library but quickly grabbed a small paper before leaving his desk.
"If you are going to take some of them out, fill out this sheet. And check with me beforehand, some of the books are cursed and they will actívate once they leave the barrier. Come with me."
He guided her to the very back of the shop, turning behind a well placed bookshelf into a reading room. The place almost seemed too big to belong to the small front the library had. While he has books on the history of magic in the main área, these books were all about potions and the actual use of magic abilities.

"What exactly are you looking for?"

"Everything is labeled, you might want to start with the ones under Human Anatomy and work your way through the variants."
Laurel pointed at one of the bookshelves, the small label of Human Anatomy seemed to contain the smallest amount of books.
"Dusty has been helping these last couple of years, other than that I take care of everything myself. I'm not as fragile as I look."
Sir?
"Yes? Candy, was it?"

"I have a few anatomy and medical books of different races, if you are interested. The History of Magic is always a good place to start too. It all boils down to what you are interested in."

Laurel took the book very carefully, first examining the cover front and back and then opening to take a look at its insides.
"It's very interesting indeed. If you don't mind, I would love to examine it more closely in the next few days. Of course, you are welcome to collect it whenever you wish to."

"As you wish. There has been some damage to the structure of the basement, other than that I just need to replenish the materials I used for the ritual."
Laurel nodded in gratitude with a smile, accepting the potion but leaving it on top of the desk for now.
"I am sure we do, deity. I don't believe we walked even similar paths."
Moon appeared in the middle of the library, eyes scanning for the owner.
"Hello. What can I help you with, deity?"

"Old enough to see democracy start in Rome, though by that time I had already been traveling for a few years. Some of the book I wrote, following close instructions of the experts at the time. Other I bought, some I rescued or were gifted to me."

"Do not bother. I already have all the materials I need and Shell and Dusty will spend several hours fixing and cleaning everything. They are upstair, as you might have guessed. As for my involvement..."
Laurel sat down on his chair, extending his leg under the desk to rest his knee.
"I have been around enough children to know that nothing will stop them from doing dangerous and deadly things in the name of love. My intention was to make sure they will live to try again."
Moon appeared in the middle of the library, eyes scanning for the owner.

"Generally, people who search for an universal meaning of life, tend to be unhappy with their current life. I found that a better question, for most cases, is "what does a happy life look like for me?""
"Religion, culture, enviroment, it can all influence the answer."
"If you are looking for advice, however, the only one I can give is that to find meaning in your life, you have to live your life."
Sir?

"Humanity has been searching for meaning since we have started thinking. As if we have a debt to pay for breathing in this world."
"All these books, everything around you, exist because people have been searching for meaning, for a reason to justify their existence and to appeal to someone that their life was worth something. A God, their peers, their parents."
"Meaning is a purely human concept, when your time for eternal rest comes there will be no one waiting for you with a list of things you did or didn't do. As long as you live a life that fullfills you, there's no way for you to miss something important, because you will seek what matters to you."

"A chance to see that much power... No matter, I haven't bothered them for hundreds of years and I don't wish to start now."

Laurel stays quiet for a long moment, simply observing her.
"I have several answers for you, child, but first answer me this. Why do you wish to know the meaning of life?"
