As we near the beginning of November many of you know I usually spend the month paying tribute to my dad in daily posts. This will be our 11th year without you, daddy and honestly my heart still hurts like it did when you left us! 💔 This year I have decided to go off the grid in November and focus on celebrating him in my own way. This year I turn 50 (day after his anniversary) and I’ve decided to focus on making memories in his honor. I’m going to spend every day in November doing something that would make him proud! Please join me in celebrating my husband for his retirement! 🎉🎈🎉Its finally official after being laid off since March - the Myers Lake/Central Stark YMCA abolished his job. Dave started working at what was the CYC (Catholic Youth Council) in October 1983! He began working as the Youth Sports Assistant. After 25 years the Y took over and he worked there as the Director of Youth Sports for an additional 12 years. 37 years (i was 13 when he started working 😳)!!!! I’m so happy he is able to focus on coaching and enjoying life - he’s earned it. Over the years he made life long friends whom we still consider family. Although he didn’t get any recognition from the Y (another example of what a horrible organization they are) I want to make sure everyone knows that he is retired after they let him and many others go for months without any information, health insurance or money! 😡 He misses the fun of sports and the thousands of kids has watched grow up at the CYC/Y, but he certainly does not miss the adults who often make coaching/running leagues a pain. 😝 Due to COVID we can’t have a formal celebration, but we will do something to celebrate him quietly and then bigger next year!! Every year I say this, but words cannot express my respect and admiration for the many wonderful bosses I have had in my professional career journey! Currently I’m supervised by the most intelligent and visionary woman. Julie is incredible to work for and with. She has taught me so much and I continue to watch her and learn from her every day. 12 years and counting! 💜 I also cannot ignore the wonderful learning and support I gained from those before her. Rita, Sue, Tanya (@agiftamongwomen ), Tim, Russ (@judylgrant ), and Margaret. And, I would be absolutely remise if I didn’t thank and celebrate my “mom, he’s not my boss” boss - Don!!! 😂 I am truly blessed by the gift of each of you.
